Cairns Gateway Resort

Great value for money, they have cheaper weekly rate (~60$ a night). Pool area is nice. There is a small wardrobe, fridge, iron, microwave (plates, glasses, cutlery & dishwashing soap provided), TV, soap & shampoo, balcony, many towels. You can do a laundry for 4$, small laundry powder packet sold at 1$. They have plenty of free car parking.

A bit isolated so you must have a car. The balcony floor was dusty/dirty. It's really a pity the way they fixed the TV against the wall because all the inputs (e.g. HDMI) behind it were totally unreachable. So forget about plugging your laptop on the TV to watch your own movies.

I was very happy with my stay here. I arrived in the evening and was greeted to a lit room with the aircon on, and a big jug of cold water in the fridge. Simple things like that matter. The room had block out curtains, and was soundproof, with a balcony overlooking the garden. Vicki at reception is awesome, I ended up extending my stay and was given cheaper rates the longer I stayed. She could have billed me the rate I paid when I booked and I'd be none the wiser.

For me, there was nothing negative. Great budget accommodation giving you the most for the price. Won't find better, trust me, I lived in Cairns

The facilities were excellent and unbelievably clean and well taken after, the pool and barbecues are a delight, and everything is convenient and close. The room was just perfect, AC and ceiling fan made us forget all about the incredibly hot Queensland summer and sleep perfectly. There even was a smart tv in the room so we could connect to our Netflix and watch movies. 10/10 stay, would definitely come again.

The only thing I could complain about is the location, it is a little bit far from the centre. There are supermarkets and stores close nonetheless.

Liked the location: far enough out of the CBD to be cheaper, but not so far that it was inconvenient. We used public transport (bus) while there. The bus stop was close by, the fares good, and traveling time not too long. The resort is starting to show its age, but was clean and comfortable, with good facilities. There wasn't much road noise, which was a surprise being adjacent to a major highway.

Didn't really dislike anything. There was a slight chlorine smell occasionally as the pool was in the wind path to our room, but it wasn't a problem.

The facility and night managers were really great , showed alot of respect and was nice , we were up from Townsville on a footy trip after our game we went back to the resort for a few drinks in the pool , swim and played abit of chess he came in and let us know we have afew minutes left be for they close , so we done the right thing got out picked our stuff and rubbish and walked out while he was waiting for us , he pulled up and had a chat with me and was very nice , I will definitely be booking there again bit this time with my partner and kids , location was great 5 stars from me

What a lovely stay we had and all the staff at reception and the cleaner were really lovely and so helpful. The beds in the room were super comfy and also included in the room was a TV, fridge, cutlery and crockery. There was a great barbecue area within the grounds of swimming pool and the swimming pool was beautiful. Everything was immaculate. Would most definitely stay again if I visit Cairns. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Very highly recommended.

The cleanliness, it's cleaned at a 5star standard which I loved by karen, nothing was to much effort. I stayed for few weeks, made use of pool and great facilities. Very cheap stay for excellent quality. Highly recommended. It's next to major rd, but u don't hear noise. Close to shops & bus stop. Staff are amazing only to willing to help. Very much appreciated. If your on a budget this is definitely the place to stay. You won't be disappointed.

A good place to stay. Very much liked the spacious room on the first floor (not ground). Good facilities in room and big screen TV. Good spacious shower with good pressure. Everything clean and up to standard. The manager at the reception desk was friendly and helpful with regards to the local area.

Wifi didn't appear to be included, so just as well I have my own mobile Internet as back-up. However most places these days offer free Wifi. When I went to connect to the Wifi, a screen came up advising that you had to pay approx $20 to sign into it, which wasn't very appealing, so I just used my own mobile Internet. Then again, the charge per night for the room was quite reasonable. EDIT: There was a slight misunderstanding regarding the Wifi being included. Disregard my above comment!

The location was great. Access to the room was great. Aircon worked brilliantly. Had minor issue with our fire alarm going flat and making a noise, reported it to reception and was fixed asap.

To use the laundry was a little over priced. $6 to use the washing machine and another $6 to use the dryer. plus $2 for washing powder. However I would stay here again, great place.

Clean and affordable room rate for 7 nights with all the necessary amenities.

The toaster was old and rusty, and it needs to be replaced. Location is a fair distance from CBD, which taxi fare can be quite costly, especially if the buses are not running in times of natural disaster such as a storm, which we were unfortunate to encounter during our trip to Cairns.
