Sanctuary House Resort Motel

friendly staff checkin a breeze and plenty carpark space. shower shampoo soaps which was great as i forgot to pack my own. quiet location that evening and i left early so didnt have breakfast to comment on. As i arrived 8pm it was nice for staff to put the heater on so it was cosy on arrival. it was a cold frosty night

noticed a ageing smell of somekind, noticed other accommodation also had windows open like this one to "air out" as best but still noticeable. heater aircon right over bed so if your a light sleeper unlike myself then it may need to be off bed has electric blanket. Bathroom was ok but the tiny vanity sink was a challenge trying to brush teeth and wash face,etc because the tap was in this bathroom a tall stainless steel about 20cm high right in the middle, but at least kettle fill with water was easy.

Loved just how comfortable and homely the place felt. Very clean too and the owners, Helen and Sam, were exceptional, having owned the place for the last 20+ years, they have made it a safe haven for travellers. Felt like a home away from home! Loved the wood fire in the lounge area and the beautiful bush surrounding the property. A hidden playground for kids too and lots of space to run about. The on-site restaurant was so cosy and had an old world charm about it. Food was served in enormous portions—very generous for the price we paid. Hosts were again so lovely and accomodating. Thank you for the lovely stay. We will definitely revisit when we are in the area!

Hmmm if I really had to say, maybe the food could have been a bit fresher?

All clean, nice towels, comfy bed, great shower. As a single female traveller this is a great spot, town near, Zoo and the Lotus Gardens . Its an older style Motel, in great setting. I would also think because of its setting , play area and pool for families. Not all Motels have a microwave and again for me is a benefit.. I had a continental breakfast , eating area a bit old fashioned to look at, as is curtains in room but again nothing wrong with them.

If I was paying more I would expect more,

Having the pool was a huge factor in the booking, and it was a highlight in the coincidental, sweltering heat of our stay! Parking was perfect outside the rooms. Pillows were nice, and the bed was comfy. The close proximity to the local town area of Healesville was very handy to access the supermarket, pubs, local shops etc. This accommodation is so close to Healesville Wildlife Sanctuary you could practically walk there (but don't, lol) 😊 Visiting the Sanctuary is an absolute Must.

A little more attention to room checking and cleaning would be great. Found a child's toy under the bed in one of our rooms from someone else's stay. One of our multiple rooms had not been cleaned nor made up from the previous guests, and we had to be moved to a different building, thereby splitting up our family. I would have preferred at least a chain lock and definitely a peep-hole on the inner entry doors to the main hallways. Only cutlery was 2 teaspoons and 2 knives in all our rooms; not helpful. Fridge/Freezers need to be checked - one not working. None of these things would prevent me from staying here again 🙂

Great size room with aircon. Lovely location with pool, play equipment and restaurant / bar. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Lovely breakfast set up in the morning and very accommodating with dietary needs. Would of loved to stay longer to explore more will definitely return.

The only negative i have is: Not having bug spray in the room for bugs of a night. Also they need to add a bit more detail on there web site as it didn't state about having a pool or breakfast options/ prices or any restaurant details. So we actually booked else were for dinner as we didn't know they had one there but atleast tried there breakfast options in the morning. And just ended up wearing clothes we had in the pool as we didn't have bathers.

The motel was perfectly nestled amongst the bush, little traffic going past meant you could enjoy the sounds and sights of nature nearby Additionally the on site restaurant was of great quality, and great value. The owner was very kind and helpful, and lovely to have a chat to if that's you're thing. Plenty of parking and within a few minutes of drive of the main centre of Healesville, a great place to base yourself whether for a day or a week.

This place is a hidden gem. Hidden amongst beautiful bushland . Was greeted by one of the owners. A gentlemen. Very friendly and lovely. Nice warm welcome on arrival. We spent best part of the day in the nice clean pool. I think everyone was at weddings .. Very relaxing watching the Rosella's fly over you. The room Was cosy and clean . Bed was so comfortable. And for a snall room there was a huge TV. Nice suprise. Air-conditioning worked amazing and the big drapes kept all the light and sum from peeping through in the morning.

Trying to find fault ....there was a door from the room to the hallway which has no purpose as you go out the door where your car is parked right outside.

Short stay, only spent a little time in the room but comfortable when we were there. Room was a good size with plenty of wardrobe space. Bathroom was modern, bright and clean. Good size TV and all the expected amenities. Person at check-in was bright, engaging and friendly. The QR code in the room for automatic connection to the free (and fast) WIFI was great - definitely the easiest way to connect to WIFI I've ever had travelling.

The motel grounds and reception were very beautiful and staff very friendly and accommodating. The location was good but you need a car to get to town. The rooms were very clean with limited facilities.

The rooms were small and in need of an update. It looked a bit like school camp. The walls were very thin so if crowded could be very noisey. I could even hear people going to the toilet.

Clean, good TV options, friendly staff, microwave/fridge/kettle, close to the animal sanctuary, only a few minutes drive from the shops/ restaurants, nicer heater/air con unit than most places, glad there was a gap with the neighboring cabin (no noise).

Surprised there were curtains everywhere except the bathroom (and no frosted glass), wet dog scent after showering (maybe the shower curtain?).
