Motel Stawell

Motel Stawell is beautifully equipped at a reasonable price. If you want to visit The Grampians for scenery and walking, stay at Motel Stawell. Its only 15 miles to Halls Gap in the middle of the Grampians. If the stay in Halls Gap, you'll pay nearly double for no better facilities. Motel Stawell is friendly and helpful and I recommend them.

There is no restaurant at the motel. There is a fish and chip shop just round the next corner towards the town centre but it was closed for weeks when I was there. Best to go into town and eat at the Greek restaurant at good price on 1 Main St Pete and Rita Souvlaki Bar - nice food.

It’s a very well maintained property. Just 19 mins away from Halls gap and is a perfect place for the Grampians lovers. All the facilities such as groceries and petrol stations are at a minute drive from the place. The staff is really nice and they have a small barbecue area where we cooked our own food. It’s the value for money property. They have an amazing wifi which was such a relief. Foxtel is provided and even the TV got Netflix subscription. I’ll book this place again during my next Grampians visit.

-Mosquito problem in the area. Indeed they’ve provided repellent spray but still it’s annoying sometimes so get well prepared. -The charging sockets are not near the bed so a bit inconvenient if you wanna charge your devices after a tiring day and relax on bed at the same time. The sockets stopped working after a day of use and i had to use their tv socket to charge my devices. - AC became noisy after a few hours of use, it was a bit disturbing at night. Some improvements and this place is one of the best to choose.

Plenty of space for our whole family with comfortable beds and spacious bathroom. The facilities were all clean and easy to use. Staff were very friendly and helpful, accommodating our needs and giving great advice about the area.

The shower pressure could have been better. There were no instructions for how to use the split system, which we found confusing to operate at first. Some welcome information and/or instructions on the facilities would have been useful.

Stawell is part way from Melbourne to Adelaide so a good place to do a part of the trip to. This was my first time to Stawell. Usually I go to Horsham. The motel was clean and fresh, and had good facilities including ducted aircon, an extra blanket, good wifi, good clean well presented updated bathroom, and it was quiet at night. There was milk and tea and coffee, and a big screen smart tv. Everything I needed for a cosy restful stay before driving the rest of the way home!

Nothing to improve

Very welcoming on arrival. (met Ruby the friendly dog!!) The room was clean , as were the appliances (kettle, microwave, etc)

Hot water tap leaked - minor problem, but you asked.

A last minute romantic getaway!! Check in was easy and very professional. The reception area was scented with beautiful aromas which I can only think came from the plants they’ve used for a resort type feel which they’ve definitely achieved and made me feel like I’d arrived in paradise. Apon opening the door you are greeted by the on site security dog which made us feel immediately safe to stay here. The button to call staff who could be heard out the back watching tv was just brilliant to get their attention and customer service. I was assigned my room and when we asked for a nice room - boy did they not disappoint! The stunning artwork was complimented by the texturised feature wall completed by previous guests. Almost like a sign in book but with a personalised touch. Our room featured all the right facilities we needed. The ironing board really came in handy, we wouldn’t have thought to check the cupboard for an iron if it wasn’t for the nicely placed iron burn on the luxurious carpet. I was a little bit disappointed that the back windows didn’t have curtains but with everything else they had to offer, I didn’t think it was a big issue. We had a small problem with flat batteries in the remote which were promptly changed via staff immediately. The surprise increase of 50c upon check in for us to secure this deluxe room would explain the low occupancy hence flat batteries. This is also again evident with the spider webs coming from the elegant back drop lights. Again, not an issue as they provided us with fly and insect killer - which I assumed killed spiders too as it doesn’t state on the label. But we tried it and just to our luck it worked! These guys have truely thought of everything and every solution to unnecessary problems that could have be avoided by basic maintenance and general every day cleaning.

Staff were very friendly and accomodating, providing support and guidance when asked. e.g recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner - great advice given - the meals at the Pub across the road from the athletics track was great. Being able to check out a little later than 10.00 was no problem, especially as it accomodated our reason for being in Stawall overnight.

It was a little bit noisy being on the highway - I guess we weren't expecting to hear the trucks so much One of the only things that let the room down was that although it was clean, the silicone in the shower was very discoloured and was very noticeable on first impression. If that had not been as noticeable, I would score higher above!

The staff were very accommodating when I said I would be arriving quite late at night (midnight arrival). They were able to quickly respond to my request and confirmed payment the day of arrival with instructions on how to access the room key. The light was also left on for us which was greatly appreciated, great pressure in the shower which helped with the wake up the next morning. Wasn't aware of austar being available but that was also an added bonus! Would stay again if back this way 😊

Excellent location for a stop between adelaide- melbourne. Close to The Grampians national park. Friendly staff & the rooms were so clean! There is a kettle, toaster, microwave, plates etc. and some tea and coffee you can make (at least in the room for 4). Would highly recommend.

If you are a light sleeper you might hear some trucks down the road, but after driving all day & walking around the national park we just fell asleep without any issues.

We arrived late so the staff were happy to leave the key for us in the key safe, meaning we didn't have to rush. The room was nice and clean and the shower was hot. I thought being so close to the highway that the noise might be an issue but apart from hearing a bit of traffic just before we went to bed, it was pretty quiet overnight. This was a basic room but I think you could easily make this motel a base for visiting the Grampians and surrounding areas.
