MEININGER Hotel Salzburg City Center

We liked that we reached late and the gentleman and the reception suggested we use hotels community cooking space . The friendly staff at the reception should get an applause. The restaurant in the mall was shut and it was raining....and we were too tired to drive around looking for space in other restaurant in the city. The checkin was easy...but I suggest that you can request the passport copies in advance....like maybe one hour before arriving.... After a tiring travel.... No one wants to do so much paper work on arrival....it's just a suggestion!!! If you can work around this. We liked the rooms which were compact but sufficient....they were as shown in the website. The location is ideal and close to a bus stop which takes you to city centre of Salzburg. A supermarket in the same building is a huge benefit... but shuts at 8:00 pm. They have a restaurant at the mall near the supermarket Billa.....which offers veg pizza, ...coffee and some salad...!!!!.. But shops and restaurants shut by 8:00 or 8:30 pm.in the mall. We will return again....

While navigating for hotel ...Google maps took us directly to in gate of the basement....of the hotel.... we cannot do much about that...but what we can solve is.... this entrance has no signs and we were unsure if we entered the right building..... thankfully we were.... The access to parking and looking for the lift to hotel was a bit stressful.....and is a bit complicated... For travellers from another country, ..... navigation in a basement can be stressful. Plz put more directions... Parking fee for car park for 24 hours of 12 euro( which is reduced we were told)...... was steep we think. Especially parking can be made at a better price for residing hotel guests.....

I have to say that the staff was excellent! Very friendly and responsive with great English. Room was small and very spartan but that was inline with the good price and what I was expecting. NO A/C and parking/breakfast were an additional charge. Hotel was a bit of a zoo with lots of young people staying there. I liked that they showed the "Sound of Music" on a common TV down in the reception area but so many loud youngsters hanging out at the tables near us, we could not really hear the TV. My boys thought that it was a hip and cool vibe. I guess the bottom line is that this hotel is best for the younger crowd. Great that they had a common washer and dryer but count on 1.5 hours to wash and dry each load, plus you have to download an app to pay and schedule a time. Was kind of a cluster.

Seemed like sketchier part of Salzberg and best suited to the younger crowd.

Excellent staff, very patient and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, comfortable for the price.

The AC was very weak and especially underpowered considering it turned off when the key-card was away.

I liked it that they have 24hrs reception service. I also liked that the location is very close to bus station and grocery stores. I liked that they allowed us to store our luggage since our flight is still in the evening. They have shared kitchen utilities such as ref, stove, microwave and kettle. Our room is also big and we have a sofa. Staffs are also nice and accommodating.

I have requested a room cleaning in the reception before going out but when I came back, the only thing they did was throw out the trash. I am not sure if that's the definition of "cleaning" for them.

Quite spacious room, nice common area, a bar with coffee, drinks and snacks, 24h reception, kitchen for guests (fully equipped), good breakfast (bread, vegetables, fruits, cheese, meat, eggs, musli, flakes, joghurt, jam, coffee, tea, juice). I could keep my bike in my room. Strong wifi. Long breakfast hours (6:30-10:30). Big supermarket just next to the hotel.

The room was very ascetic and academic-style. The neighborhood of the hotel is a bit industrial, a busy and noisy street runs next to the hotel. Some furniture and equipment in the room were dusty.

Overall, it's a good hotel for a short stay. We had a family room for 6 and it had everything we needed. There is a kitchen on the ground floor so residents can cook for themselves if they wish or opt for breakfasts provided by the hotel (for an additional fee). There is a parking garage downstairs accessible by a hotel elevator, which is quite convenient if you're traveling by car. The hotel is located within a walking distance from the city center, it literally took us 15 min to get there. Salzburg is a quite compact city so you can get everywhere fast, which I liked a lot. The hotel staff is very friendly and the hotel itself feels more like a guest house. I would stay here again.

You need to pay a separate fee for the parking spot. When one elevator of the two is broken, it takes forever to get up or down with just one working elevator. You can take the stairs, of course, but not when you're loaded with suitcases.

The hotel is very affordable and offers comfortable, clean rooms and bathrooms. Towels, soap, shampoo, and hair dryer are provided. The rooms have lockers, but might be a bit difficult to fit a larger suitcase in it. Only narrow padlocks fit. Our room looked towards the back side of the hotel, so it was quite quiet at night with the windows open. There are thick curtains and air conditioner that makes it pleasant during hot summer days and nights. The hotel is about half an hour walk from the city center, but there are many bus stations nearby that take you to and from the train station and city center. If you don't plan to stay longer, it's recommendable to buy a 24 hours ticket for only 4,50€ at the vending machine at the train-station (cheaper) so you can hop on and off the busses/trams as often as you please. Don't forget to validate it! There are many shops near the hotel, even a shopping center and a gym right next to it. The hotel offers breakfast, but you can also use their kitchen in order to prepare your own food. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The bus connection is great and there is a ticket machine nearby which the staff gladly pointed out would save us a little cash rather than having to buy from the drivers. There's also a great restaurant 5 to 10 min walk down the street and a McDonalds around the corner if you're that way inclined. Supermarket in the same complex, pizza downstairs... it's great bang for buck.

The only negative I noticed was the bathroom cleaning just needs that little extra push to make it great. It wasn't terrible, but also, not great. I'd definitely stay again though.

The staff was friendly and helpful; the hotel is near many stations of public transportation; a shopping mall is right next to it; wonderful scenery nearby; it was a nice gesture to offer one free fruit at the reception; there was possibility to wash and dry clothes (via an app with a small fee); there was a shared kitchen

The doors in the room were a bit heavy and hard to open, but nothing unmanageable; the shared kitchen was a bit small

The room was really clean and well prepared. The bedsheets and towel were all laid out by the time i checked in. They have separate rooms for shower and toilet which was extremely convenient. They clean the room everyday and it made the whole room feels really fresh. The four beds dormitory was just so nice and quiet. The staffs spoke English very well. They helped me get to my bus station on time.

I wish they could install curtains for each beds. That would be the final touch to make this hotel a perfect stay. A little more privacy between each bunk beds would have been lovely.
