Grand Hotel Shumen

Everything you would expect from a hotel at a great price. Executive room with a King size bed. Tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water and free fruit all provided. Bath robes and slippers also provided. No cleanliness issues. Nice restaurant adjacent. Adequate breakfast. Lots of car parking spaces.

The hotel has a very imposing and slightly depressing appearance on first arrival. Looks like a typical 1970s Soviet era building - don't let it distract you it has been fully refurbished. The guy running the breakfast service was a little abrupt.

Very clean for this price range! Everyone at the reception and in the restaurant in the lobby were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very rich and prepared on the spot (choose one of 4 options for breakfast). Panorama restaurant on 7th floor was very good with excellent menu. Only minus is that it's open from 6pm. Overall very nice experience!

We could check in very late with no problem. The room looked good. We had slippers and robes. The free water bottle was nice. The breakfast was very tasty and fresh.

The shower water was just a bit warm, didn’t get to the point where it was hot. It could have been cleaner. There was some hair in the bed and on the floor.

As a regular user of the place, I have always found it not only convenient with its location and parking, but also a very cosy and afforable place for accomodation. The breakfast is great, there is a restaruant at the gound floor with great food and fine atmosphere. I strongly recommend it!

The comfort of the room, its cleanness, the view. The restaurant was excellent, also the breakfast was tasty. Big car parking is available and accessible.

Elevators are a bit slow and with separate buttons. The automatic front hotel gates don't function - you have to use the side doors - this is a bit awkward for such a nice and big hotel.

The "Grand Hotel Shumen" the main Hotel in town, an ex-communist built edifice (every town and city has one), built during the 70's. the architecture is unmistakeable. This was a last minute booking and offered at a very attractive/good value price so why not try. My first impression of the reception area is of Grandeur and a statement that you have arrived in Shumen, very large open space and functional, the receptionist was extremely polite and very helpful and gave me a room with a fantastic view of the City. The room itself seems to have been recently refurbished and has good quality furniture and a comfortable bed, a TV and hot drink facilities complete the offerings. Everything was to my satisfaction. I didn't visit the Mexhana/dining room so can't comment on the quality of the food or service.

Room was clean and luxuriously refurbished. Local Air conditioning in the room. Nice, fresh breakfast to have on the secluded terrace was relaxing. Staff was helpful and polite.

Room cleaning can improve. There wasn't a bin in my room so rubbish gathered for 4 days during my stay. You only get 2 coffee sachets (no tea) on the first day, been told is complementary, although this is a 4* hotel. Complementary water bottle would've been nice, instead you get paid drinks in the fridge for an extra charge. Bed topper was slowly slipping off from the side I was using to get on/off bed. Check-in could be more informative.

Room looks like on pictures, renovated inside hotel Bed was comfortable, location is silent Breakfast was also good,selection is not big but tasty, fruits were also available - melon and watermelon are very good 👍

The building outside is from soviet architecture designers, if you know what this mean 😁 but it doesn’t spoil general impression

Wasn’t nice that they charged for the water we drink

The room was great - perfect sized and clean. The bed is comfortable. The view from the window was good as well.

The Lobby Bar does not work. Actually, it looks like most of the hotel facilities do not work.
