Boutique Splendid Hotel

The hotel is in a old building with a nice look. The rooms are old look decorated, greatly refurbished, not everyone's style but all looks neat and clean. Our room was huge.

Two easy fixable things and one not so much 1. We had a hole in the wall and we could see the pipeworks. Somebody should find that misplaced lid and fix this. The manager should take tours more often if the staff is incapable of offering good feedback. 2. We had only a bathtub so we used it in order to make a shower. The problem is that the curtain was mounted almost over the bathtub so you could not be able to make a proper shower without that thing sticking to your body. Please move the rail 15cm away from the bathtub for the sake of a good shower experience. 3. Parking is paid by a stupid SMS system that excludes roaming tourists. If you are not bulgarian you cannot pay. Hotel should press the city mayor on this. Varna is a tourists attraction!

Very friendly staff. Good position of the hotel.

Even though the staff was very friendly, they didn't speak very good English. We visited the hotel in February and we didn't had parking space. No-one was able to explain to us how the Public Parking worked. All the signs were in Bulgarian and after some tourists explained to us we can pay throughout an phone application, our car was clamped. We had to pay a fine to The Parking Administration to release the car. We later found out that the payment is only valid from 9:00 to 20:00, not for 24 hours.

Beautiful and spacious room. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby. The decor of the room was so pretty, with beautiful wallpaper, crown molding, complementary colors in the painted walls, lovely dark pink/red carpeting, sofa and settee in matching pink/rose/red color! It was just beautiful for this traveling retired English teacher and her good friend from Varna. The lift was good and worked all the time, no outages. The bathroom was nice with a *huge* bathtub and a nice shower.

The staff at Reception were not particularly friendly or interested in helping. When I asked for a detailed copy of my bill so I could know it was correct, she simply wrote a number on a paper. The number was about four times what I expected, but I didn’t have the exact info for what it should be, so I asked again and she opened the file for my room number and found the correct amount. I always like to give the benefit of the doubt, but this struck me as complete laziness, disinterest in her work, and very poor customer service. I lived in Bulgaria 30 years ago and came to expect sloppy, indifferent personnel, but in todays world, this kind of attitude should not happen.

The hotel is set in a historical building with awesome views to Varna cathedral. Decor is period-inspired, and the room was clean. Housekeeping was excellent every day. No problems checking in and out. Bed was very comfortable, shower was very powerful, and the room was well stocked with toiletries, refreshments, and mini bar. Very spacious too.

At the time of staying, the operation seemed threadbare - hotel only. Restaurant and gym weren't open, so no breakfast facilities. The hotel has probably seen better days, with some minor disrepairs (plug hanging from wall, humidity marks on ceiling by room entrance). It feels a bit dated.

The location of the hotel is hard to beat. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. One cannot get more for the price paid. The girls at the reception were super friendly and helpful. We couldn't pay the parking with our mobile phones, so the girl at the reception helped us and sent the SMS for us! So tons of thanks once again! (btw, I found out a bit too late, that there is an app for paying the parking)

Parking right in front of the hotel is blue zone and it's paid from 09:00 till 20:00 (on the bright side - the price is symbolic - 50 cents / hour). However, one need to move the car every 3 hours (with 30min gap in between). If you don't have a BG handy, get yourself the app - Varna Parking (or something like it). To get one of the 2 parking slots reserved for the hotel, one must explicitly call to request it (yet chance to get it it's low).

Perfect location - just next to the main City Cathedral and the center of the city. Cozy room. Comfortable beds and pillows. Good sound insulation. Everyday cleaning. There is an elevator even in this historical building.

I remember this hotel in better days when they offered breakfast, the magnetic cards worked and the atmosphere was friendlier. There are not enough parking spaces and this causes difficult situations

The hotel is located in a beautiful old building in the very center of the city with nice view to the Cathedral. The rooms are really spacious. The ladies at the reception are polite and ready to help. There are small touches as bath salts or condoms in the bathroom. Great location, good internet and nice receptionists.

There were no electricity contact next to the bed but asked for power strip at the reception and they gave it to me really fast. There were some moist at the wall. The place don't offer breakfast.

Amazingly sized room and convenient location of the hotel. The view was beautiful and it is staffed all night long if you need anything

The gym is in the basement and smells like a basement. I had a difficult time controlling the heat in my room because there was an open vent in the bathroom with heat coming all night long. There was also little light in the bathroom.

The place was clean, the location perfect and so was the view from the balcony. It was very useful to have a fridge in the bedroom.

The facilities need updating (mostly the bathroom and). It would be useful if the key to the room had a tag with the room number. Also it would have been helpful if reception offers the free maps of the city and some basic tourist information.

Very poor WI-FI connection in my room ( room no. 202). Basically I had to use my phone hot spot to be able to have some internet. As I was in a business trip and I had to work on my laptop , that was an issue for me. WI-FI connection was good at the restaurant, for example, but this didn't help me much.
