Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay

The location is breathtaking! So peaceful and beautiful. The room was amazing! New and clean with modern appliances. The bed was so comfortable and the sofa bed is the best I’ve ever seen in any hotel! The staff were amazing and so friendly. I was so pleased to be able to bring our big fluffy Malamute there! I felt the love everyone showed him…from the treats to the pet package in the room, and all the attention and head scritches from everyone, he was spoiled! Unfortunately we were only able to stay one night but are definitely staying there again in the future!!

We travelled with our pet and always look for locations that accommodate. They provided a pet package which was really nice. It consisted of bowls, a treat and bed to use but as we are on the main level a couple more items to keep the room clean would be helpful such as a matt for the inside of the door and a couple of dark towels for feet and drying off a wet dog. The room was clean and well kept. New renos done well.

The screen doors kept getting stuck and the hedges are in the way of the view from the first floor. I suggest the grounds around the first level be updated to remove or lower the hedges for the view and the walk out areas from the doors be expanded to include gravel instead of grass with a few small grass patches. Just creates less mess when coming back into the room. Mixing bowls were missing from the kitchen and a measuring cup would be helpful. Maybe a cheese grater too.

The room was right on the water so we had a superb view of the bay and scenery on the other side, and the moor in our bay for private and pleasure craft was entertaining. We could hear the water lapping on the beach.

The lack of utensils for meal preparation was unfortunate, and the kitchen garbage was not picked up on a daily basis. We had to ask for coffee pods as only two were supplied; no tea, or condiments were provided--not even salt and pepper. The on-site restaurant was the noisiest restaurant in which we have ever had the displeasure of attempting to eat. There is NOTHING in the restaurant to absorb the noise, such as carpeting or curtains or wall hangings. It was SOOOOOO noisy that we took our food to eat in our rooms.

The village of Cowichan Bay was unique and it was curious to watch the dragon boat racers paddling at dusk. The view from our room was excellent and the restaurant was spectacular with the freshest of ingredients. We enjoyed the pool and sitting on the deck appreciating the view.

It was a very hot day and the fans placed in our room were not functioning well, sounding like a jet engine ready to take off.

Our suite was very spacious and comfortable with a fabulous view out over the water. Great location for touring around the Island. only had one night in the end wish we could have stayed longer. Great breakfast delivered to your room.

The hotel was good but if I had booked the car ferry say a week prior we could likely have stayed longer as the ferries get booked up surprisingly very quickly.

The exercise equipment was old and in disrepair. Rower was loud and needed servicing, treadmill was out of order. Elliptical was old and could not get it to work, was not working. The one exercise mat was old and cracked.

The room was nice. I was disappointed that there were no actual balconies. The view was terrific. The master bed was comfortable; the mattress on the pull out not good; also, the hotel should really provide a duvet for the pull-out as well.

The staff was iffy. Some were terrific and friendly others not very helpful. I had to ask for fresh linen for the pull-out three times and still did not get any pillowcases. Asking me to pay extra for a terrible, noisy, ineffective air conditioner was wrong.

beautiful view of the marina and bay. You can walk to all the restaurants and shops in Cowichan Bay. Easy access to local area sites, mountain biking, hiking, wineries etc. Pretty quiet and comfortable, spacious suite. Kitchen pretty well equipped, 2 pots, frypan, toaster + utensils. no kettle. King size bed was very comfortable in a large bedroom. We liked it enough to stay an extra night.

not really anything . The hotel is due to start some renovations of some suites but for the most part they’re in good shape.

The staff were bordering on rude and not much help at all. Don't even try to ask for information about the hotel facilities or the surrounding area.

Location was excellent. The view was superb. The kitchen area was very handy and a full sized fridge was vey welcomed. The staff were friendly and helpful. If we'd stayed longer I would have used the pool more and used the fitness room.

The sofa bed sagged, it was not very comfortable. It would be nice to have a higher toilet for us older people and a grab bar in the shower. The teenagers singing below my window at 11pm woke me up.
