Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites North Bay, an IHG Hotel

Great breakfast, lots of choices, staff very helpful from the kitchen. Nice to know I can get stuff that I may have forgotten from home (ex. toothbrush, razor), and at no cost. Maybe a few more parking spots for physically challenged ?

Still don't know if after my FIRST stay I've earned points on my membership no. (?????). Should have a RUBBER MAT in the bathtub as without one is very challenging, especially for a physically challenged person.

The staff was always very helpful. They gave us a larger room when we realized our room was a little small for 2 adults and 2 children. Our new room we noticed that the door wasn't locking when we left the room. I brought this to their attention and the maintenance guy immediately came to the room to assist. The breakfast was amazing with many choices for us all. The pool hours were great. Absolutely loved this place, would stay again for sure.

Access to the property was easy as it was right off the highway. The pool hours were long which was great. For once, the room was large enough to accommodate our family of 6, this is always a problem for us when travelling and it was nice to be able to be together in one room and still not feel cramped!

The kids were disappointed that the breakfast didn’t include a waffle maker. The pancake were good, but there wasn’t enough batter for everyone to get pancakes and it wasn’t refilled.

Property was clean, room was fairly large with a nice pull-out couch so that our family of 5 (3 adult children) could sleep comfortably. The breakfast had a good variety of food choices. It was nice that coffee and tea were available all day.

The hotel was quite busy at breakfast time so the warm food (bacon, omelet, eggs, sausages) kept running out. The staff was working as hard as they could but couldn’t keep up with the demand 

The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and varied, and the pool hours were realistic. Also, Natacha at the front desk was incredibly helpful in helping return an item I had left behind.

Upon arrival we waited an unnecessary amount of time for someone to attend at the front desk and help us, and there was a couple there before us that hadn't been attended to yet. There was literally no one at the front desk.

We very much liked the design of the hotel - the rooms were exceptionally decorated kudos to whomever came up with the colour scheme/design. Pool was fun (you have to book a time slot because of covid) Breakfast was included but we decided to sleep in.

Not much we didn't like, aside from coming out to our car to load up and saw that someone had side swiped us in the lot and scratched/cracked one of our back tail lights (totally not the hotels fault) but was a huge sour point to an otherwise great stay. People need to learn how to park, or not be drunk when parking i guess - my suggestion is park further away from the hotel we parked in the spot right adjacent and the huge crack in our tail light was not a great way to end our road trip.

The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our puppy, starting with giving us a room close to a back exit and providing extra sheets to cover his crate. There's a gas station, convenience store, cafes and a brewery right next door, you can find anything you need. The room is spacious and the pillows are just the most comfortable ones we ever slept on. Free parking on site is a plus.

The COVID breakfast was pretty slim, we didn't even pick it up and had food next door at a cafe. The room in general is well sound insulated, except the door. You can hear all the noises coming in from the corridor.

Rooms are nice and very clean. Pleasant staff.

TV’s are setup so you can’t screen mirror from a phone and there is no app for streaming movies etc. Would be nice to be able to sign into Netflix without bringing a streaming device. Many hotels are doing this now. Seems that this hotel does this on purpose and charges $24.99 to rent movies. Pretty ridiculous.

Convenient location and very clean. We were traveling with a dog and were treated like the other guests, same standard of room on the second floor, unlike other hotels that stick you in a sub par, poorly maintained room because of your pet. This scores big points with us.

Price was not adjusted to reflect COVID restrictions/closures. The pool and gym were closed and the “continental breakfast” was cheap, pre packaged foods. These are things that are normally factored into a hotel price. You will pay more for a hotel with a pool and hot breakfast then one without.

Beds are comfortable with 4 pillows. Decent sized room for a single person. Rooms are dark when shades are down which is great if you sleep in or nap
