Zhangjiajie Destination Youth Hostel

Read it if you're not Chinese 👇 Perfection location. It's just right next to the park entrance. You can buy Zhangjiajie Park tickets (valid for 4 days) and go in and out every day. The hostel owner will help you buy the tickets. If you travel to Zhangjiajie or Zhangjiajie West train station there are buses that'll take you to Wulingyuan. They start running at around 7:30. Don't get scammed by expensive taxi drivers. Then it's a short walk to the hostel from the Wulingyuan bus station. You can contact the owner of the hostel beforehand and he'll let you know how to get to the hostel. Download WeChat so that you can communicate easily without using VPN. Also, download Amap (works with WeChat location and doesn't need VPN to run). The hostel owner speaks good English, but Chinese definitely makes things easier here. Hope this helps my fellow travellers from outside of China.

Lovely place, felt comfortable and homely. The host was exceptional in being helpful, kind and welcoming: he helped with all aspects of booking, recommending itineraries and places to eat as well as being extremely good at communicating by phone and WeChat. Pretty good with English as well. The rooms and beds were comfortable and the location was very convenient to the east entrance of Wulingyuan park, 5-minute walk.

The only downside was that one of the non-smoking rooms we had smelled of cigarette smoke, and the other non-smoking room (despite having a "no smoking" sign), had an ashtray in the room. Otherwise, just note that the bathrooms are wet rooms, and because they have no other ventilation other than the little extractor fan, they stay damp for a long time. The nearby road outside the hostel is closed, so taxis often have trouble finding the exact location of the hostel, but can easily drop you a few minutes' walk away. Also, the owner is more than happy to chat to them on the phone and give them phone directions if needed.

Perfect place! 4 minutes walk to the park entrance, there is a Starbucks and Kfc right at the entrance. There are many Chinese restaurants around, and in the evenings there is a market with Chinese food and drinks on the next street. We had a room with a balcony, great view, comfortable room. For the money it's simply the best it can be! I would also like to especially mention the staff in the person of Roupg! Friendly, helped us with all the tickets (we recommend buying tickets to the hostel, it’s cheaper here!), allowed us to wash our clothes for free, recommended restaurants and bars around. We recommend!

The cleanliness of the bathroom is not perfect, but considering the price of the hostel it is quite acceptable

The staff all speak English well, beware the security guard didn't, so if you have business early morning, better finish it on the night. The mountain view was good, room was clean, lots of shampoo anf soap, bed eas comfortable enough. The location is good if you have a mean of transport. Just rent scooter next door. It is cheap. The staff can help you book ticket ) attraction, and taxi to the railway station early morning.

The pool was closed when we visited. The security guard can not speak English (he guards from midnight till morning). Maybe one downside, the room's interior was quite basic, like a building with no finishing.

Ralph is super friendly, faves us great tips and and helped us organising our trip. He speaks very good English. The hostel is truly amazing. Great location, great atmosphere, great place to hang out. 2 minutes away from extremely nice street food street. Best dinner in town.

Ralph is very hospitable, friendly and genuine. He has great english and excellent recommendations on how to spend your day in Zhangjiajie National Park. Location is only 10mins walk from the National Park entrance so that was super helpful. Along with close proximity to Wulingyuan Bus Station and local restaurants. Room was clean and maintained. Had a great time here thanks!

Clean and spacious double room, great value for the room rate. Location is just a 5 minute walk from the park entrance. Ralph is a great host and can boom tickets for the national park. Further, he organized luggage transfer to the airport for me to make sure I didn’t have to come back to Wulingyuan after taking a day trip by train from Zhangjiajie.

Very good location to eateries and within walking distance to Wulingyuan entrance. Host was friendly and able to recommend routes and help purchase tickets. Map provided was very useful.

Room (bathroom) felt cold during winter, though the host did provide us with additional heater. No lift, so we had to carry the luggage up the stairs.

Everything! The room and the bathroom were clean and spacious (at least for one person) and it’a near the entrance of the national forest park. The place doesn’t have an elevator but Ralph helps the guests with their luggages. He also asks the guest what they need prior to getting into their room and he helped me book my visit to Tianmen Mountain!

What makes the place great is Ralph (the owner). He was a huge help for me and my wife. He helped us to book every ticket that we needed it and even the tickets for the tiamen moutain (were sold out) he could get to us. Also his tips about what to visit around and how to visit were great. The place is normal, clean, good to rest. Me and my wife really recommended this place.

The breakfast is very cheap 10¥, but for our personal tast is not good enough. Just some noodles, 1 boiled egg and some porridge soup and that’s it.
