Auberge du Chêne

The property is a perfect stop off point. Not far off the motorway and has a restaurant next door as well as on site restaurant. The food cooked on site was excellent - fresh fish on the bbq. Aureli is a baker so fresh croissants and bread each morning with homemade jam. Gregory and Aureli were the perfect hosts. We had a flat tyre the morning we left, which happened to be a Sunday. Thankfully they were able to accommodate us for one more night and nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend this family run Auberge.

The entire place was spotlessly clean and a lovely quaint building - very covid secure and a huge thumbs up from us. The breakfast was superb - all home cooked by the owner (who is a baker). The best croissant and pan chocolat I’ve ever had in France so far. The bread was Superbly baked and the homemade jams/condiments made the experience unique. I just wish we had taken up the offer of a home cooked meal on the previous evening.. I can only imagine it would have been delicious. The host was incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Genuinely nice people. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay on transit through France. I would definitely recommend as a transit stopover. 10/10 from us.

Absolutely wonderful welcome. Hosts who couldn't do enough for me. This included a lovely home-cooked meal. The food was first rate. Good advice given about starting out early in the morning to cycle up the Pyrenees.

The Auberge is right by a main road and a little out of town. But I was pleased to get an evening meal so I didn't have to go out (I arrived by bicycle)

The Hotel is beautifully kept inside and out. The rooms are well appointed, recently decorated and kept scrupulously clean. The owners are very friendly and amenable and go out of their way to be helpful in any way they can. We have rarely experienced such a personalised approach.

There is nothing not to like but a little more variety regarding the meal offerings would be of benefit.

Getting there! More precise instructions would help. It's at a road junction, with good parking space on both sides of the Maureillas road. But don't miss the left turn if arriving from Le Boulou on the A9 - I did, and had to go all the way up to Le Perthus and back!

Warm welcome by 2 very nice people. Clean room, good food, good breakfast. A good place for a fair price. Great for a stop over when travelling. Next time we would stay there again.

The auberge is at a cross section of roads. There is a small sunny terrace but no garden or so. Don't worry however, the rooms are on the other side, so no noize at all.

We had a great stop over at the Auberge du Chêne. The Auberge, despite being just off a main road, was tranquil and quiet for sleeping. We had a room that overlooked the main road and had our windows open all night, but yet the room was lovely and quiet. The owners were fantastic hosts. We ate dinner at the Augerge and everything was delicious and plentiful. The owner made some of the most delicious anchovies and he even gave us some to take with us. Thank you! Breakfast was yummy. Lots of coffee and amazing croissants home made. Everything is local. The refurbishment of this old building is beautifully done.

Our bed was very squeaky and I cannot get used to the big square French pillows which gave me neck ache.

Auberge du Chene is located in a beautiful village, next to a main road, so easy to find. The hosts, Aurelie and her husband are wonderful hosts. I arrived late, after the restaurant's opening times, but I still got a wonderful dinner and a friendly welcome from the couple. The room was comfortable and quiet, just as promised. Breakfast was freshly baked pastries and baguette, with homemade jam. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and it is a great place for exploring the area.

Lovely location and the hosts were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was delicious with homemade pastries and jams. We also had a tasty evening meal at the restaurant next door.

Just small points but a shower screen would be better than a curtain as it was very difficult to move in such a small space.

Excellent location just off the highway and Spanish border. Very friendly owner who makes you feel at home. Appreciated having a restaurant next door for evening meal. Very modest accommodation but clean and excellent value for money.
