Some! staff very pleasant and helpful, and this included the cleaning staff, but one other ( reception ) very dismissive to the point of being arrogantly rude. But he was the exception. Nice location for Mount St. Michel.

Expensive! Hotel and food added up to make the most expensive stop, per night, in a month long tour through Portugal Spain and France. A slight isolated area with a toll barrier, so you can become a captive audience. Little choice of where to eat unless you get back on the bike ( in the car ) and head on out. Also, very limited menu choice with small portions in most places. Supermarket 5 minutes away selling everything including tourist souvenirs at a quarter of the price to what you pay in this area.

Clean and comfortable, though very dated motel. The bathroom however was refreshed, and it was quiet and provided a relaxing rest during our 2 night stay. The staff were helpful, and the breakfast was above average with enough options to satisfy most staying there. Was impressed they had both almond AND soy milk which was near impossible find in France, and the loose leaf tea on offer was a welcome surprise. For the price, and convenience I think it was good value. The local bus to/from Pontorson arrives right at the front door, and the souvenir shop across the road was a good stopover to buy a few things before we left. The free shuttle bus to MSM IS conveniently located right outside, but mind you, this is Stop 2 out of the 4 on the way to MSM, so on the saturday morning "peak" time (9am), we couldn't get on the first bus as they were full from the tourists getting on at the car park at Stop 1. We got on the second packed bus, but again some people missed out at our stop. Having said that, those at hotels further down the road would've been much worse at Stop 3, though from there it is technically walkable, whereas it would be a decent hike from Mercure. This was on Sep 1st, and although we missed the first bus, the next came under 10 minutes. Not sure if we were just unlucky at that time, but thought I'd mention that in case others have booked times to get to the Abbey tour, however it only takes under 15minutes to walk from the bus stop to the Abbey (if you go up main street on the right, and not turn left!). Of note on the Sunday at the same time, we had no problems, so I guess it depends on timing of tourists, but knowing that the majority of big tours from Paris also have to get off at the carpark and also catch this shuttle, I'd hate to clash times with them so suggest you aim to leave mercure before they arrive around 11.

No way to keep the floor dry from the shower which has excellent water pressure, but the swinging glass screen does nothing, and water hits the edge of the bath and runs onto the floor.

Right by the bus to Mont Saint-Michel, across the road from a restaurant with vegetarian food (and a huge souvenir shop), comfortable room (although all chalet style so you have to go outside to get to breakfast/dinner/reception), but meant I could part just outside my room and leave the car there whilst I visited Mont Saint-Michel and had lunch, internet worked in my room and the hotel restaurant (which could not be said of my hotel in Chablis the night before). Not somewhere to go if you are not visiting Mont Saint-Michel.

Someone left the window open prior to my arrival letting in mosquitoes! Do check this immediately you arrive if you don’t like them. No proper cups just takeaway cups in the room. No safe.

This hotel is in a great location for exploring Mont Saint Michel (MSM). It is located across the street from the shuttle bus to MSM and is also within walking distance to MSM. The staff is very friendly. We arrived prior to check-in time and was allowed to park our car at the hotel. We received the parking code from the hotel to enter La Caserne the day prior to our arrival. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. A quirky thing about our room is that the toilet was in a separate room from the tub/shower and sink. No big deal, just unusual. There are no elevators. There are restaurants and a small grocery store across the street. A restaurant is also attached to the hotel where the breakfast buffet is served. The breakfast was good and had a good selection. I would stay here again.

It was convenient to be booked into one of the local restaurants by our receptionist (who was great). This whole complex is designed to handle people visiting Le Mont St Michel, and although we chose not to visit it, there is a very good viewing point a short walk from the hotel.

Given that the room was quite spacious, the ensuite was tiny. You need a code to get through the road barrier to enter the complex, but this was not sent to me as expected, and I had to phone the hotel from the barrier to gain access. This costs an extra 9 Euros something per 24 hours.

Great location, free parking at the Mercure once you have got into the main gate area of La Caserne with your provided access code. Very clean rooms, renovated , refrigerator, bathrobes and slippers provided. The hotels restaurant is Le Sal and it’s next door to the hotel - MUST book beforehand otherwise will not get in. Ate there one night and very nice food.

Nothi g really - it was a very good hotel. Only thing was - No real milk in fridge, but can purchase this and few other things at small grocery/ bakery/store over the road.

Location is very good. The shuttle to the mont is in front of the hotel. Plenty of parking in front of the room and spacious room.

My room had no elevator access. So 8f you have a problem with steps mention it in your reservation. The dinner was limited in options. They offer a risotto that has no risotto, its more barley and bulgur. There are no plaves open in spring as its low season. Yet you have to make a reservation fir dinner abd book breakfast even as a guest of the hotel. You would think they count all guests first for the services. The bar offers obly drinks no finger food or snack to take with drinks. Still dont understand why pay for the parking if the parking belongs to the hotel.

Location is great, comfortable access, parking. Hotel barmen is super. Tickets to MSM we bought just at reception with no extra cost. Do not expect miracles at breakfast, though it is OK. Overall the hotel is clean and accurate, up to Mercure standards.

Room soundproof is "0", we heard all neighbours all the time, esp. in bath/toilet, though we were lucky to have only one wall connecting to another room. Fear to imagine if the room is in the middle of a corridor.

friendly staff, incredibly comfortable and clean, staff helped with our request for flowers and champagne. lovely 30 min to the castle but shuttles are also available.

the parking situation was a bit all over the place. we were sent by the GPS to a closed road as did other motorists and we eventually figured out that we needed to go to an alternative parking space. the email I got with a code did not work but we got a ticket quickly. in the email the hotel told me it would be about EUR 6 for the night, at reception we were told it will be EUR 10. in the parking place it was EUR 20. we would have appreciated better directions which parking lot to park in and the correct sum to pay. breakfast was EUR 16 per person and it was ok but we thought it was quite expensive for the choice available.

The room was spacious, clean and warm. We appreciated the fridge to store our bottled water. The breakfast and dinner we had at Le Pré Salé was delicious! At breakfast time we enjoyed a friendly welcome by the duty hostess who invited us to help ourselves to the fresh fruits, juices, breads, cereals, eggs, sausages, bacon etc. Dinner was also perfect! I had monkfish and my husband enjoyed a tasty steak. We treated ourselves to a dessert of crème brûlée- wow! Thank you to the chefs for a wonderful meal and to the waiters who were friendly, professional and attentive. Finally, thank you to the reception staff for thier equally friendly welcome and to the housekeeping staff who do such a good job with room presentation.

No dislikes - although a safe would have been useful to secure lap tops etc.
