We booked a room for 6 days. The room is on the front of the building... It is so wonderful when you open the window and watch the ocean. The room looked stylish and classical. The WIFI worked the whole time. They had a nice breakfast buffet. Breakfast and dinner service was excellent.
The service personal in the restaurant did not wear the COVID-mask correctly. The nose were not covered. The bathroom especially the shower area ist not cleaned thoroughly and needed renovation.

Due to roadworks in the city it was difficult to find the way to the entrance of the hotel by car. Our gps navigation kept us bringing to the Dünenstrasse which is not accessible for cars. Please enter Karlstrasse as destination in your gps when driving to the hotel by car. One of the staff members at the reception desk was not very helpful on this.

The hotel was ok, great location and beds, small rooms, balcony with sea view wonderful.
The breakfast was not out of this world and a bit boring, service was hit and miss. Judging by our experience of staying in the former Eastern part of Germany and the former Western part of Germany last year, there appears to remain a difference in approach to service in the former East - that there is an overall expectation that guests should be grateful for staying and adjust to the needs of the hotel rather than the hotel to the needs of its guests. For a five star hotel, I would expect the latter, and that was not the case when we stayed. Service was the biggest led down - a bit clumsy and even rude at times. Not everyone but enough to be noticeable. Reception staff in particular, with a ‘computer says no’ attitude rather than ‘how can we help’.
