Novotel Köln City

Room was very comfortable and clean.. I took a single twin bed room. I was given the non river view room.so i believe it was quieter. Breakfast was not included in my booking, but paid at the hotel. Breakfast has pretty decent spreadlike eggs various bread, cerals, muesli, cheeses, fresh juices, tea/ coffee, salad. The NOVo2 restaurant had good food as well.

I was offered one bottle of sparkling water complimentary for my entire 3 nights stay. But water can be purchased from the reception. Complementary toothbrush, paste etc. Needs to be requested from the reception.

- Loved the location of the hotel. There are several public transit lines that link you the hotel from Dusseldorf Hbf directly, leaving anywhere between 3-8 minute walk from the stop. The Chocolate Museum and the harbor christmas market are only a 12 minute walk from the hotel. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. This really makes for a good experience overall. We didn't need to have many interactions with the staff before check-in or check-out, though. - Breakfast buffet was really good, we were pleasantly surprised by the offerings: bacon (crisp), sausages, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, baked goods, fruit, juices, etc. We always got to the dining room approx 30 minutes before the end of the breakfast and there was always plenty of seating. It seemed pretty busy/full before 10:00, though. - The Executive room was big enough to accommodate our party.

- The room wasn't cleaned very well. We found things (maybe chips) on the floor and the bathroom wasn't really cleaned down too well (saw other people's hairs in the shower). - The beds/pillows weren't terribly comfortable. - I think we were in the family wing and you could hear people in other rooms running around. We could also hear and feel vibrations from doors slamming. Luckily the noise from those rooms ended at a decent hour b/c there were small children. :)

Staff were extremely friendly; The location is very good and on-site parking very convenient. The breakfast was extremely good, with a very large variety of items likely to please most that stay at NOVOTEL.

The parking spaces were narrow even for European cars, but I understand the need to be able to accommodate the many guests arriving. We saw that the garage was full later in the day, after our arrival. During breakfast, everything was delicious with the exception of the bacon, which was a bit undercooked and did not taste like good German bacon at all. Warning, the breakfast area, although pretty large, will fill up later in the morning and you will have to wait for some time to be seated. We arrived shortly after 9, but by the time we later, several groups were forced to wait and watch other enjoy the breakfast.

It was pleasant stay. Location of property was best. Close to the City. Supermarket was in walking distance of 7 mins. Starting from staff to cleanliness everything score 10/10. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend to other travellers if period of stay is short 3 nights max.

Parking ticket which was 19EURO per day. It would have been value add to customers if this could be subsidised by hotel for travellers staying at the Novotel [although it was pre-informed to us by staff member that it's also public parking].

Highly recommend it! A great comfort of the bed and all facilities. Breakfast exceeded our expectations with various fruits, French cheese, salmon, different kind of bread, musli and even milk (oat and almond) and great coffee. At a 15mîn walking distance from the old town and 20min from the main train station. There are plenty of nice restaurants and cafes just around the corner.

During our stay there was a false fire alarm so we had to go out in the middle of the night with our 5 years old son only with pijamas. This made our night not the nicest experience and the day after we could not really visit the town because we were all tired.

Just a general sense of friendly professionalism from the staff in helping with questions etc. And no issues with the fact that it was all done in English as my German is not up to scratch

A minor issue in the bar with the way "Gin & Tonic" is sold. We had GnTs on both evenings and I do remember one waiter saying "I will make you a nice one". Your menu says that a GnT is €10.50; expensive so should be "nice". You can also have a Gin of a brand I have never heard of at €10.50 too, to which €3.50 is added separately for a tonic water..... To cut a long story short, I secured a refund but it should not have been necessary.....

The rooms were spacious and adequate for a family of four. The staff was excellent and the dinner and breakfast were very satisfying. I was especially impressed with the service for children. There were gifts, a kids' space, and the kids were very happy.

Not a big problem, but if I had to say, the location was a bit far from the train station and the center of the city, which made it a bit difficult to get around, but I would recommend staying at this hotel even if you have to pay for a cab.

The staff was extremely friendly and was an absolute delight to communicate with them. Answered any questions my friends or I had. Provided storage for our baggage on the last day when we had to leave a bit later because of our flight. When we arrived an hour-two early they accommodated us right away. The room was just perfect! Everything was clean. Had a great stay and can't recommend the hotel enough.

The coffee could have been better but for 3 euros when you don't want to go out - just enough.

It was slightly out of the way of the centre of Cologne. It wasn’t too much of an issue, but bare this in mind if you’re not wanting to walk long distances. Also, even though the breakfast was really good with lots of variety, it was very pricey. Lastly, the beds were quite hard and a the third person had to sleep on a sofa bed (although this was comfier than the beds!)

hotel is just 15 min walk from the cathedral and main train station. the hotel was very clean with modern finishes. stuff were very helpful. the hotel is cross the road from a bus stop but it was not easy to understand bus times, so uber was always our way. breakfast is about Eur25 per person and kids are free. so value for money.
