Danubius Hotel Raba

The 1970s fitted room provided high standards of comfort in all respects.The fittings were functionally perfect- large empty fridge, huge safe with very simple operation( no pushbuttons),plenty of coathooks on wall,storage in bedside cabinets as well as wardrobe. The aircon was powerful and fully controllable,and there was a large french window which kept out most of the traffic noise . For its size ,the bathroom was perfect,with a bath ans good size basin.The WC had a most powerful flush. Reception staff were alert,polite ,and useful.The whole place seemed well run,and all the fire precautions appeared correct.The lifts are exceptionally fast.

The breakfast had the usual problem of lots of strange fruit infusions remaining after the actual TEA supplies had run out.There were no croissants and on some days the fruit salad was tinned.Perhaps breakfast should be priced a little higher. I am VERY concerned about the renovations taking place on two floors.I suspect that the rooms will be “ modernised” in appearance but made functionally almost useless to me - i.e. no bath,scanty furniture,bad lighting etc.

The hotel is in the perfect location of the city centre. The breakfasts were really amazing, a plentiful selection of delicious foods in a nice dining room. The environment of the hotel is really pleasant and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

Some of the hotel's equipment is quite old and in need of renovation - which was happening during our stay. We were disturbed every morning by the sounds of drills and hammers from the workers above us, but that is quite expected and I'm sure that after the renovation is complete, the hotel will be perfect.

would be nice if the additional notes Would actually be read by the staff. We have asked for a room with one big bed (we have chosen this option when we booked) - because we were traveling with our baby and we needed only one bed; but we got instead the twin beds. Unfortunately the additional notes were not read because we mentioned there too… It’s not nice when you pay for an option and you actually do not get it…

We booked two nights at this hotel, for a city break. The hotel is literally 2 minutes from the train station, very close to the old town. Check in was really fast, Reception staff very polite and helpful. (On the 2nd day the magnetic card was suddenly deactivated, they checked the issue and solved it right away). The room was nice, clean and very comfy, with a small balcony facing the majestic Gyor City Hall, bathroom had all the necessary items. For those who need it, there's also a small fridge and a safe hidden in the cupboard. Overall we had a very nice staying and we'll come back again for sure. Thank you.

Excellent but noisy location, I guess if one wants tranquility one shouldn’t stay in the heart of any city. The entire building and its atmosphere is a throwback to the 1970s which I found charming. Good breakfast, polite and professional staff. Very reasonable prices, good air con. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Győr.

The Hotel has this weird system for cleaning the rooms. Unless one requests a full clean one gets an “Eco clean” by default which basically means emptying the trash cans and getting fresh towels but it excludes replenishing of tea bags and clean tea cups. I don’t mind washing up after myself but a dishwashing sponge, liquid and a tea towel in the room would come in handy. Not a complaint, just an observation.

I had a good-sized room with air-con, en-suite bathroom and fridge; everything one could need for a two-day stay. The location is good, right in the city centre and thus within walking distance of the main sights and also plenty of restaurants. The reception staff spoke excellent English

There is no on-site parking, although the receptionist helpfully showed me the location of a public car park 5 minutes walk away where one can park all day for 700 HUF (about £1.66)

Hotel Raba was obviously the place to stay in Györ when it was built, probably before the First World War. It is well located a short walk from the railway station which has good links to Hungarian and international routes. I assume it was renovated in the tourism initiative of the 1970s. It is typical of this type of hotel: a bit spartan by the most modern standards, but spacious, reliable and clean (apart from the carpet, see next box). Breakfast was very good, especially the coffee which is often a weak point in chain hotels - incomprehensible in a country where it is almost impossible to find a bad cup of coffee!

The carpet was heavily stained in places.

*Perfect location in the heart of the city where the walking street starts. *Friendly and professional staff at the reception and for a small additional charge there is dedicated parking spot at the entrance (ask for it in advance due to limited parking spots). *There is a restaurant/pub with a wide choice of food/drinks and friendly waiters. Kitchen open until 22:00 and can order drinks even after. *Rooms have high ceilings that makes it feel you are in a bigger room and also plenty of air in there. *Free and fast wifi

*Air con was set to 18C but still did not cool the room down enough over night. *Not an issue for me but bathroom comes with fairly high bath tub that may be difficult for older guests to hop in/out. *Mattress is on the very soft end I felt sinking in too much but that is a personal prefence though.

Everything was fine and no negative comments. This is the third time at the hotel and every time was OK. The breakfast was very good and had a selection of breakfast types including the English breakfast. Good coffee and juice. The proximity to the city center was perfect. Very good parking slots are free in the front of the hotel and this is a plus. This was a perfect stop from Romania on the way to Germany, not far from the auto way, shops close nearby, petrol station on the way.

The hotel is in perfect location. The building from the outside looks shabby but inside everything is nice. Rooms are spacious although some much better the others (we were travelling with a group of friends). Bed is comfortable but sofa bed is very stiff. Breakfast was good. We came late night so had trouble with patking - hotel doesn’t have enough parking spaces but there is a parking garage nearby for additional cost.
