Hotel Vestmannaeyjar

We stayed in one of the suites which was beautifully decorated, very clean and extremely comfortable. The staff were warm, inviting and helpful. The included breakfast offered many choices and was served in the attached restaurant Einsi Kaldi, where we also had dinner. Our dinner at the restaurant was outstanding. The hotel's location was centrally situated in close walking distance to shops, restaurants and activities. There was free long term parking for our car right across the street. Overall, an amazing hotel to stay at on the island that I would highly recommend.

I loved that they had a great free buffet for breakfast with lots of quality fruit, and a wide selection of meat. cheese, bread, eggs, cereal etc. they also let me store my bag before and after my booking. They had a washing machine for guest use, and called me a cab hours after I checked out. Also plenty of towels and amenities, which are hard to come by in Iceland.

There was some banging on my roof, I think something may be loose up there, it was raining. it didn’t stop me from sleeping, I actually had my best night sleep while there.

I liked the waffle iron and made me a waffle. The selection was ok.

We were not told where breakfast was served when we checked and I didn't see any signs - the person in the lobby was on the phone when I came down so I tried to find it myself - I went into a dead end corridor and to the basement where I found nothing. I eventually found the breakfast room because I heard noise coming from there. There were no staff in the breakfast room until two persons came to clear tables. I was offered no service. I was there late, 10-15 minutes before 10 o'clock. That probably explains it.

The location is right in the heart of Heimaey and within walking distance of the harbor, shops, restaurants and just about everything you'd need. The rooms are modern, lovely and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I also took advantage of the washing machine in the hostel next door to do a quick load of laundry, as well as the kitchen to make a quick sandwich before my hike. Not sure if this would be possible during peak season, but it definitely was in October when I visited. Breakfast was great and included some hot items (waffles, eggs, bacon) which was unusual to find in Iceland.

Beware the weather and ferry schedule - this has nothing to do with the hotel itself (it was lovely), but I had to leave a night early because of the weather. If you are on a tight timeline you should pay attention.

One of the best hotels. It was my third stay here and I will choose it again every time. Excellent location on the wonderful island of Heimaey, my room had a view over Eldfell and Helgafell, the two volcanoes on the island. The staff is friendly and helpful, the room was spatious, clean, comfortable and it had everything I needed. There is a restaurant, a sauna, luggage storage options and the staff is always there to help you. Great value for money and a pleasant place to stay while exploring beautiful Vestmannaeyjar.

Absolutely nothing to mention here.

Location in town is great. Everything in town is walkable. Plenty of restaurants nearby. They have their own restaurant downstairs, but we didn't eat there. Room was spacious and well appointed with pretty views. Bathroom was the nicest we had in Iceland. Bed and bedding were great, good pillows. Good breakfast with variety. Really good eggs at breakfast. Quiet rooms.

Hot tubs and sauna are....in the basement. They would have been so much nicer outside. Hot tubs were crazy hot. We could last about 5-10 minutes in them. Nice sauna. The island was the least COVID conscious place that we encountered in Iceland, and this hotel was also lacking in COVID awareness or protocol. Staff was almost completely maskless, a few had it under their chin or nose. This seemed to be the norm on the island as locals in restaurants were notably in large groups and maskless, wait staff in restaurants often wore masks poorly, and there were few to no masks being worn anywhere. This was disappointing and colored our stay, especially with the hotel staff.

This was a great selection for our one night stay on the island. It is about 10 minute walk from the Harbor and is located near several shops, restaurants, the Sea Life Trust and other fun activities. The hotel was clean and the staff very welcoming. We did not have dinner in the on-site restaurant but the breakfast was very good. I loved the Puffin theme!

Upon arrival our room was extremely hot. In all fairness this particular room faced the sun and once we figured out the window locks, it cooled off by the evening. We were told that we were lucky to be there “on their one day of summer” so no real complaints.

Some reviews we read before booking led us to underestimate this hotel. It is VERY nice: a beautiful view from the window, lovely staff, amazing breakfast, such a comfy bed. We landed at KEF airport, picked up a car and headed for the ferry. This is the perfect first stop to relax and recover from that overnight flight, especially if you're like me and just can't sleep sitting up on a plane.

We absolutely loved Hotel Vestmannaeyjar! Easy parking across the street or in the neighborhood, centrally located to walk in the town or head to the beautiful sites of the island, VERY clean, and the suite had a great view of the town and dormant volcano. We also ate at the restaurant and it was exceptional. I actually forgot my wallet at dinner and they made sure to get it back to me ASAP. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Really nice hotel, located in the heart of the island. Breakfast was really nice, we could make our own heart-shaped waffles!

We arrived at 19:30 at the hotel, but the restaurant was closed, although Google said the restaurant was open. We were really lucky that there was 1 other restaurant open until 21:00. A bit sad that there was wrong information on Google.
