The Travancore Heritage Beach Resort

The property is excellent and well maintained. It is located approximately 15 mins away from the main kovalam area. The property clearly needs to put better pictures on their listing. It is way prettier than it looks in the pictures uploaded by them. We were offered a very refreshing welcome drink made of cinnamon, lemon at our arrival. Checkin was smooth and the entrance was beautifully decorated. We stayed in a Heritage room and we could see the sea from our balcony. It was a cottage of sorts which had 2 rooms, which means the balcony is kind of common. However there are chairs and tables in both corners for each of the room. There are two swimming pools however only the one near the restaurant was open. Since they mention beach access in their listing we set out to take a dip in the water and got to know that it is a little far from the property. Guests are required to take a lift and reach the ground floor and then walk towards the back side of the property which was completely abandoned since the sewage water had come out. 100 points to the property to be able to create a walking path above the ground level so that people can cross that area. However, measures need to be taken to avoid such incidents. When we finally reached the back gate of the property, we walked towards the right side to reach the beach, which was crowded due to the locals visiting the nearby temple and the church. It clearly was a fisherman beach and there were dozens of boats parked. This is still okay but the garbage heaps on the beach sand were just not okay. The water was clean but the waves were rough and hence a bad idea to think of swimming. The surroundings of that area are so wonderful that if kept clean it could be among the prettiest becahes of Kerala, but looks like the locals dont want that to happen. You wont find many tourists since its not a popular beach and is only popular among those visiting the church and shiva temple.

The food was a little underwhelming considering how good the property is. The breakfast buffet had good options however the easiest of dishes like Sambar, and Maggie were not upto the mark. I am a north Indian and we get better sambar in Delhi and Gurgaon. We also ordered chicken sandwich and Schezwan noodles in the room. The sandwich was fine but the noodles tasted more like malabar noodles instead of Schezwan. It seemed as of they were tossed with south indian spices masala.

Location is really awesome with lot of greenery. Had a short conversation with owner of the property, excited to know it is a heritage village he bought and developed. all rooms are built 200 years back. Staff are extremely good and patient in answering any queries Ayrvedic massage was good with reasonable prices

Shower at the entry of the beach gate instead of tap. Pool near beach is not well maintained Need to put cloth hanger stands to dry cloths as it us beach property AC not automatically switched off with key. If we do not off AC while going out of room lot of power wastage

beautiful grounds groomed daily and we were mossie free. pleasant attentive staff. lovely view from our premium room. wonderful massages at the centre. restaurant staff again helpful and food clearly labelled on breakfast buffet.

rickity little lift to take you down for access to the bottom pool, part beach view rooms and beach. although the attendants were kind and helpful. the staircase was not well used as it was not obvious which way to go. not enough sun shades on top pool and bottom pool (had only 2 ). the attendants were helpful but in the heat of 35 degrees it didn’t make sense.

breakfast was very good. So also the location of the property was good. The ambience was excellent. Very courteous and helpful staff. The view from the room was breathtaking. Garden and the greenery very well maintained.

This is not exactly a complaint. The property is located on a hillock. Living quarters are spread over the property and some of them are located in downward slopes. Elderly persons find it tiresome to access upper part of the property. May be the management must advise the elderly guests to opt for easily accessible rooms though these rooms may not have good view.

A very nice, well maintained picturesque property. Ocean view room really had a good view of the ocean. Good food. Courteous and efficient staff. Front office people specially Mr. Praveen was very helpful in making sight seeing arrangements and airport transfer.

No private beach as described. The access to the beach is through some not so clean area outside property. Beach itself is just ok. May is a bad time to go because of rains and no shelter or shack nearby in the beach. Also high waves and not safe to venture beyond the very edge in this season. In a nutshell, property is wonderful but the beach can be disappointing.

The accommodations were adequate, has everything that you would require. Staff was amazing. Special mention Akhil and Shree Lal. Courteous and went the extra mile. Always friendly and helpful. Great spread for breakfast. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Relaxing atmosphere with all the facilities at hand.

Beautiful hotel, great setting and lovely rooms. The staff are helpful and the food at the restaurant is wonderful, likewise the landscaped gardens. Highly recommended.

It’s quite a steep walk from the beach to the reception area, though you can order the electric tuk-tuk.

The resort is simply fabulous. The speawling property is full of greenary, colourful flowers, shady trees and comfortable hammocks. The swimming pool is great, life guards are very attentive, cleanliness is top notch. It has private access to a serene beach with special benches for travancore guests and also a lifeguard to make sure of our safety.

The food is not too great. I wish they had a better selection of kerela special dishes.

The location is great. Hotel rooms and views are exceptional. The staff was very warm and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you just intend to just stay and not looking for spa.

The ayurveda massage was good but the towel or accesories used were disgusting and highly unhygienic. Will be a great stay if you avoid this.

The peace and tranquility, helpful and attentive staff (particularly at meal times), excellent buffet and a la carte menu, comfortable lodgings and well-kept gardens, made for a memorable stay.

A bit out of the way, but this also adds to the peace and tranquility.
