Hotel Willow Banks

Location is fine if you need to get access to nearby spots as a traveller. Being on the mall road you won't get nature's touch or mountain view. There's just a city view. And also vehicles are not allowed on mall road so you can roam around anywhere. There are a lot of shops for eateries and brands to shop from.

There's no mountain view. No bonfire, not such a happening place to chill. There's just a bar(over-priced)

Shimla mall road has very few options as most hotels are located away from the mall. This hotel is one of those few options if you like to stay on the mall road. The hotel is almost heritage like, but very well maintained. Rooms size were good and staff was prompt. Food was excellent. You need to park your car at the Shimla Central parking and from there you need to take the public lift to reach the hotel. You can call a porter (on paid basis) to carry your luggage up to the hotel. Hotel can give you number of the porter beforehand and they will help you in parking and carry your luggage.

There is no on-premise parking, which of course is due to the fact that no cars are allowed on Shimla mall road. But, this is the main USP of the hotel that its on the mall.

The location is the best part of the property. The restaurants in house are superb and among the best in the city. Breakfast spread was nice and nicely spread. Staff were helpful and offering suggestions prior to arrival and helping out during checkout with luggage and porter services is nice touch. Property has a lot to offer.

There is so much the property can offer if it markets itself well in the room. Too soft with Guest. I was bothered with staff not being strict with Guests who make nuisance late at night. Dinner buffet should be advertised better

Its one of the few hotels with balcony rooms so its worth it . Premium rooms were spacious but definitely in need of repairs.

Dressing desk had a crack and bathtub showed recent fixture feel. FOOD is to be avoided. We ordered dal chawal and it was basically no salt and no texture and taste. For lesser rate you will get amazing food outside. Very nice indian restaurants available and prefer choosing parcels over room service. A little pricey for what you get back

1. LOCATION - Just 200m on left of THE LIFT on MALL ROAD once you come out of the lift from Cart rd below (parking) on to MALL rd. 2. Balcony rooms have best wholesome views of Shimla. 3. The Shimla Times Cafe of it with spectacular views and cocktail is super (though expensive).

1. The breakfast, esp the tea. It's mediocre (the place is same as Eighteen 57 Cafe that you see from outside on MALL ROAD).

the amount charged was bit high. Need to look into the room charges. early morning request for tea was denied, so not sure about midnight room service for food and drink.

Located only a 5 minute walk from the tourism lift, Hotel Willow Banks is perfectly situation on Mall road near all the main tourist attractions. Even better are the views from my room balcony, overlooking the hillside and valley. The room was clean and cozy. They provided a heater, which was nice because their is no central heating and the room gets quite chilly in the winter. The included breakfast was incredible!; Indian-style breakfast made to perfection. There is also a restaurant and rooftop sky bar on property, which is very convenient if you’d rather not venture too far for dinner. The facilities could be updated a bit; however, the bathroom and room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful, as well, with responding in quick time and helping to arrange transfers to and from the railway station to the hotel. The price, although a bit high for the season, I thought was reasonable for the service and quality of stay. I was very happy and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shimla.

Only issues I had during my stay were weak internet connection, if not non at all. Although there had been a snow storm, and therefore, the reception said that it was working to restore WiFi service. Another small issue was water temperature, if showing in the evening, was like warm. I prefer a hot shower, especially in the winter. In the mornings, however, the shower temperature was perfect.

Warm welcoming staff. Hotel needs a bit of renovation though. The tiles in the master bathroom are coming out and need to be fixed. It would be nice if the cushion are replaced as some of them are ripped. All in all a very comfortable and hassle free stay. Enjoyed my small get-away. Thanks

Old charm hotel right on the famous Mall road, overlooking the town of Shimla. Fabulous views. Breakfast was good too. Pretty impressed with managing outsourced porter service and the COVID SOP guidelines being followed.

The heating system could be better. Not sure if this was due to COVID-19 restrictions that heating wasn't on or if they don't have a central heating. Couldn't figure that at all. However, it wasn't that the heating pillars were ineffective. It isn't a negative but rather something they could look at improving though I can imagine their challenge with being a vintage hotel... 🙈
