Mercure Bologna Centro

Mixed feelings. Right across from the train station: that's both good and bad. Central, yes, and an easy walk to the touristic points, but also peopled with dodgy characters. Was accosted one night by a gang of three, who were evidently non-Italian. Not the hotel's fault, of course. Friendly receptionist (top marks), but the first room was unbearably warm, and opening the window meant the noise from the busy road till late + mosquitoes. Changed the room for the second night, which looked over into the garden. So, nice, except for the disgusting mound in the bath. Great value for money, though.

Breakfast had a good variety of food and drink with helpful staff. Bar we used the bar for a couple of drinks before bedtime each evening again the staff were very helpful and we were delighted with the choice of drinks. My wife particularly liked the choice of fruit for her Pimms It was also good to see 7 year old Havana Club on sale as well.

The electrics in the hotel urgently need to be replaced; there was an issue of used soap bars bring removed and not replaced a small but annoying issue

Hotel has excellent staff who want you to enjoy this wonderful city, 10 years ago this would be an awesome hotel, 2022 it is a fair hotel, Staff helped make my stay as very relaxed.

The tiny bedrooms, i am from UK London and used to more space, I visit USA a lot and these rooms and beds would not be acceptable in any US location, I stayed in Rimini for a week after this hotel and they had massive rooms with plenty of space for 2 double beds, This hotel uses 2 single beds together so a twin room is 2 single beds which is poor in todays market, The price was quite high too. luckily there is plenty to do in the city which is a stone throw away, so forget your small bedroom and go enjoy the space outside, basically needs a huge update

The reception was very efficient. We got our request for a quiet room. The air conditioning was quiet and effective. The room was clean with coffee/tea, 2 complimentary bottles of water in the fridge, conditioning shampoo, shower gel and soap. A good selection of channels on the TV - including BBC World. A quiet, shady garden to sit in. The hotel was opposite the main railway station and it was easy to get to the airport.

The decor was old - but didn’t affect us. The shower was in the bath and there was a danger of slipping.

The location is great especially if you ate planning to visit some of the places by train. We went to Firenze it took only 37 minutes by train. Train station across the road. The citiy center is only a short walk. The staff are very friendly. The garden view rooms are ideal and peaceful. No noise disturbance from traffic and sirens.

hotel need renovation. The breakfast buffet was basic but not so cheap.

The seventies style gives this hotel some character rather than just looking dated. The room was a good size and exceeded my expectations. There is as a courtyard at the back of the hotel giving us a nice garden view from the bedroom. The bathroom looked nice although the shower was a bit awkward. The location was incredible. Just 1 minute from the train station.

One of the showers was clogged, and the bathrooms, in general, were a little run-down. But the staff offered to change the room all together because they couldn't fix the problem right away... Again, the customer service was amazing.

Excellent Hotel. Nice old vibe that I really enjoy. Excellent value for the breakfast. I was initially worried about the proximity to the train station, because sometimes that is a thing, but not an issue at all. A few small food places near by and a proper market at the station across the street. It is actually perfect for doing day trips in the region which is what I was doing.

For me the hotel is ideally located, within walking distance of all the attractions , and minutes away from the excellent train station. Breakfast was ideal for me, and reasonably priced.

I find it hard to find fault. There was a kettle in the room, but no coffee or tea sachets, and no cups . Would have been nice to have these, or why provide a kettle ?

The room was an excellent size and very comfortable, as well as facilities such as a good sized fridge. The bathroom had a good space, with a bathtub and shower. Continental breakfast, contained local items (such as chocolate croissant and bologna bologna), which allowed us to experience an Italian breakfast. The location of the hotel was excellent, 5 minutes walking from the train station and 15 minutes walking from the city centre. Many options of market and restaurants in the surroundings.

Nothing to really hurt, but the bathroom was a bit old. The bedroom windows didn't close properly, which made it a little difficult to sleep. The organization for breakfast was also a bit confusing, I think due to the care taken with COVID-19.
