The breakfast is good, with enough options to choose from. The location is great and within a walking distance of the main attractions. The staff was great and helped us book a taxi to the airport.

my room was at the back of the property and the window faced a tiny airspace between two walls - AKA almost like not having a window. some people said the front area of the hotel is too noisy.. well, the back is dark and airless. I had a good stay because I was only there for 1 night and the location is extremely convenient to explore Catania Center, but I would have not liked to stay in that dark room for a longer stay.

Nice hotel close to the centre of the old town. Parking was arranged in advance by the hotel staff which was very helpful. the room had a vaulted ceiling and fine decor.The reception was well staffed and were very welcoming.

The surrounding area was a bit unkempt with litter etc but this was not really any fault of the hotel.Some of the bathroom area was a bit cramped and attention was needed to the shower cubicle which wouldn't shut easily because the door runners had broken off.(reported on departure) The hotel bar was temporarily closed for no apparent reason so we had to go out to find a cold drink after we had checked in.

Excellent, helpful front desk Staff , no issue to difficult to solve, very forthcoming and professional. Excellent location - close to all main attractions yet quiet enough to provide some rest after hectic day of sightseeing. Go and discover rooftop terrace.

Breakfast is a dissapointment , very basic - comparing to food available outside hotel a bit expensive and avarage quality - waiters non existent. Some fresh vegetables and a bit of an attention from breakfast Staff would have been a great start of the day. Shower at peak hours can be a challenge due to low water pressure at higher (4) floors.

Our room was very large and comfortable - almost a suite. Good breakfast buffet. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location within the historic central area and easy walking distance to all the main sites.

Only problem was parking - we had a rental car and the hotel does provide very limited on street parking. They basically charge a daily fee so that one of their staff finds somewhere on the street to park the vehicle for you. This doesn't feel particularly secure, and when we dropped off the car we were charged by the rental company for a small scratch on the plastic front bumper of the car which I know we did not do at any time we were actually driving the car, so I suspect it may have happened during the day the car spent parked in the narrow but busy street outside the hotel

Very comfortable hotel, big and comfortable room, very high ceiling so a lot of air, hardwood floor, absolutely clean, big and comfortable bed and cozy bed linen set, convenient bathroom, AC, suitcase stands, nice lobby, stuff-super professional and friendly, good breakfast- everything that you need, and super location in the heart of city close to everything.

We arrived in the middle of a very busy festival evening in central Catania, and perhaps expected that to continue into the hotel as it is located quite close to the central palazzos. Cool marble flooring, quiet ambience in the foyer and most helpful staff got us off on a great footing. Having asked for a quiet room (4th floor) I still expected street noise, but it was very quiet every night, thank you! Spotlessly clean room, very comfortable bedding, lots of hot water and towels. Continental style breakfast was average standard but lifted by delicious fresh pastries so a nudge up there. The hotel was very clean throughout what I saw, staff were lovely, and the location is perfect being a few minutes walk in any direction to pretty much all you would wish for walking around this pleasant city. Great restaurants within 250 metres. This is a lovely small independent hotel, well priced for its very central location, and very clean. A pleasant welcoming hotel for couples on a city break.

For some, our room might be viewed as a little tired in bathroom fittings, but made up for it in cleanliness, comfort and hot water. In fairness, we had asked for the quietest room and were offered another on arrival should we not prefer the one allocated. We did not take up the offer, but again it was a nice gesture.

We were driving and the hotel basically sorted out the parking (quiet time of year) which was very helpful. The hotel is extremely well situated, virtually falling out into the main squares. We hadn’t booked breakfast as we wanted to have lunch or just eat around as and when, rather than fill up first thing. Something we shall remember to do in the future if possible. Il Principe must be a bit of a Catanian institution as a private family run hotel. We would stay again.

We really only used the hotel as a convenient place to rest the head otherwise we were out in the town, so is nothing for us to dislike.

filthy dusty bedspread. poor hygiene throughout. not enough bath towels - we got 2 really needed 4. bathtub drain not working properly. needs to be cleaned. There was a lot of loud noise from restaurant terrace just outside our window (1st floor room) every night until 1:30 AM ON A Thursday. we could not sleep ruined our day. they should not serve drinks and ? food just outside a guest window. Awful.

The location couldn't be better for exploring Catania on foot. Great restaurants nearby as well. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed, and the hotel was kept in great state overall!

The hotel has a roof garden which seemed neglected and has so much potential to be a great place for guests to hang out.
