Daiwa Roynet Hotel Matsuyama

Location: it was in the middle of everything. A waslking distance from the ropeway entrance of Matsuyama Castle, and tram going to Dōgō Onsen is just a stone's throw away. Plenty of shopping mall and restaurants around to choose from Room: it was bigger than what you would expect from a hotel chain catered for Japanese businessmen. It also has separate tub and shower room, which is a rarity

Everyone working seemed cold enough. Although professional and willing to assist if you ask them to, it's rather impersonal and too mechanical by Japanese standards. Not the typical Japanese hospitality one would expect

We liked the facilities

We had an annoying coversation about parking: The reception Clerck did not speak Englisg, so he translated every sentence from Japanese to English on the hotel's computer, and than copies it on a piece of paper and showed it to us. This was not a pleasant situation. In such a big chain hotel not to have a screen that can be shared with customers instead of copyinv every sentence by hand

Excellent location, comfortable beds, and no issues with the room size. Great bathroom, all the amenities you would need. There is a restaurant downstairs they use for the breakfast buffet etc if needed. The combini down the road a few steps away was very convenient, as well as the shotengai Okaido a hop skip and a jump away. I love Matsuyama!

I have nothing to gripe about. It was a great stay! If anything, I wish I was there longer than 4 nights!

The room was amazing. It had a full sized bath area with rain-shower. Although this ate into the main area of the room, the actual sleeping area did not feel claustrophobic. The location of the hotel was about five minutes work to the ropeway to Matsuyama Castle. We could easily move around the city as there is a major tram stop. We did not try the breakfast unfortunately as it was fully booked on the days we were there.

We arrived late in the evening and the hotel parking lot was completely full. Thankfully, there were several cash-parking areas just next to it and the parking attendant was happy to direct us to one with available lots.

Location was very close to a convenient streetcar stop and the main shopping arcade. One really nice bonus was the washer/dryers, which were reasonably priced and very easy to use (price includes detergent). Relatively spacious rooms and an excellent breakfast buffet.

I was hoping for a large Japanese bath, but apparently that's not Roynet's thing. The bath in the room, however, was completely adequate.

Well appointed hotel in a very central location. Nippon Rent-a-car directly opposite, which was very handy for car pick-up. Enjoyed our stay here. Not much English spoken by staff.

Not an issue for us but bed was firm (which some may not like) We found it comfortable nonetheless. Restaurant is a separate (Italian restaurant) business downstairs. A good selection of food for breakfast but no cereal if that's what you prefer.

Decent location although tram ride or 20 min walk needed to reach rail station. A 5 min walk to the park beneath the castle and surrounding forest. Plenty of restaurants within easy reach. Wonderful breakfast and attentive kitchen staff.

The room itself was very nice, and was pretty spacious. The bed was large, and a second pillow is provided in the room as standard (meaning you don't have to ask!). The staff are polite and professional, too. The hotel itself is in a great location next to Okaido tram station, and nearby the base of the castle. The breakfast selection was pretty decent - they had good croissants and coffee. If I returned to Matsuyama, I would definitely stay here.

The only minor complaint I had is that the breakfast room gets pretty crowded, and in some cases you may have to wait a short while to enter.

The room was fabulous especially the layout of the bathroom, well planned and thoughtful. The location was perfect , near the major shopping area and also to Matsuyama castle. The laundry room was a bonus.

Size of the room is just nice. Not too small. The facilities are well maintained. The staff is helpful. Like the bathtub clean.

Do not have a shelter for entrance as it's reception 2nd floor . We got wet as we checked in on raining day.
