Daiwa Roynet Hotel Yamagata Ekimae

A short (2-5 minutes) walk away from the train station, and even closer to a major bus terminal. The bathroom is fantastic. So much space. Great water pressure. All recent appliances (Toto brand, if I remember correctly). There is a good convenience store downstairs. The breakfast was way above average. Staff were as competent and polite as you'd expect from this chain. They speak English and are willing to help. Free drip coffee pouches! It's a wonder to me how other hotel chains can get away with not offering this basic service.

It would be great if they offered a bicycle rental service. Yamagata is a city with beautiful (ancient or modern) architecture scattered around that deserves exploring, and the sights become even more fascinating at sunset as the sunlight grazes the buildings. Plus, it is a flat city with decent cycling infrastructure.

Nice modern hotel with a compact room that has everything, including a oval shape bathtub with bath powder provided at the reception area. The water pressure is very good. Buffet breakfast was sumptous with choice of Japan and American set. Overall a pleasant stay. Will stay again.

parking is via an automated car park system. It has a limit to the size of the car that it can handled. Our car was a Mitsubishi Delica MPV. It was too big. We were guided to another multistorey car park about 50m away, with a fair daily rate. it was a slight inconvenient if it is raining and we have to walk across the street to pick up the car. Otherwise it is not a big deal. The daily parking rate was reasonable.

The food was great I have no complaints there. The bathroom was amazing. I wish I had that bathroom in my house. It gave me great ideas so when I build my own home I am going to find the same style and same fixtures. Super amazing.

The bed could have been softer and it really needs bigger plump pillows.The room was a decent size but the mattress was just to thin to be comfortable for my wife and I. We like a soft plump pillow but those were the same as the mattress. Don't misunderstand it was a great stay but for it to be five stars in my book those two items should be addressed.

The room and the bathroom are the most spacious I have seen so far into my 16th-day trip from Hokkaido down to Yamagata. The location is a short walk to JR station and is surrounded by numerous eateries. The hotel also provided bath salt, which is an added bonus. Wifi connection is speedy, and in-room TV provides connection via Chromecast. The hotel and facilities are modern and clean! I will definitely return to stay if there is a chance to be back!

It would have been perfect if the hotel had provided a second pillow. Apart from that, I don't see any negative points about this place.

Location was superb being only a 5 minute walk to Yamagata station and having access to a 7/11 on the ground floor and restaurants nearby. The hotel room was clean, modern, and spacious, with an extremely large bed and bathroom, and an amazing view of the city out the window. It was hands down the best hotel room we've stayed in yet! Not to mention the price was great value for money. Last but not least, the staff, who were extremely nice and friendly. Special thank you to Matsuda who checked us in and was very welcoming. Would definitely stay here again :)

The room was modern and comfortable, with great views over the city and surrounding countryside. Location was extremely convenient.

The hotel car park was full, so I had to park elsewhere, which wasn't a big problem just a minor inconvenience since we had large suitcases. When loading our heavy luggage into the car after checkout the parking attendant was a little rude. We had no other option than to pull up outside the hotel rear entrance and quickly load the cases, but the attendant wasn't happy with this. Anyway, it was a good chance to practice my Japanese in such a situation.

The hotel is in a central position, near the railway station, in an area with a lot of restaurants and shop. At 1st floor there is a direct access to a convenience-store, so useful in case you need something last minute. Check-in time very fast. The rooms are quite small - but this seems to be the standard in Japan - whereas the bathroom is bigger than the standard, with big shower box and bath-tub. Possibility to choose between asian or western breakfast.

The breakfast is offered as a pre-fixed set, no buffet. It is not possible to take what you want, and the quantities are a bit small.

Fantastic hotel room with decent amount of space. We stayed here for skiing at Zao Onsen and it was so nice to come back to freshly made comfortable beds and a huge warm shower with amazing water pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful and location was great with easy 2 minute walk to the train and bus stations as well as various restaurants. We will definitely come here again!

There could be more storage space (ie more hanging hooks on the walls to hang towels and clothes)

Very clean, room has good amount of space, the bath was big and beautiful. The room has big floor to ceiling window overlooking the city. The hotel was very close to the train station and restaurants, bars and convenience stores. The functional space were nice, clean and beautiful. It was very good value for money.

Maybe a comment about the western breakfast. It has the same price as Japanese breakfast but the western breakfast isn’t as good and doesn’t have a lot of variety.
