Hotel San Francisco Plaza

location was good as it is close to downtown, the hotel interior is STUNNING. the price did not include breakfast, which we were fine with as we were only staying one night. i would love to stay here again

the wifi was absolutely garbage and did not connect at all. this was really the only major con. the tv was small and not the greatest quality and the bed was a bit on the hard side, but these were things i could look past. when using the bathroom sink, the drain seemed to be clogged so the sink would fill with water.

The hotel is in Guadalajara Central. Most downtown sites are in walking distance if you are a walker. The staff were quick to respond to requests, friendly and helpful. The star⭐in our book is the evening front desk clerk Juan!!! He speaks English, knows the town and will look up information to assist you. Juan made a call to Office Depot for me to ask them to secure my special water bottle I had left behind. Sure enough, the next day, retrieving the bottle was simple.

Really, what can I say, yes the place is "dated" but so am I. That's what adds to the hotel's and my charm.

The hotel is in 120 year old buildings that were once comprised of 3 large houses, each of those houses had an indoor patio. The buildings were merged into a hotel in the 1970’s. It’s a beautiful place to stay, very colonial. It isn’t “new” but it has amazing charm and for $40 a night was great! The hotel staff were helpful and it was clean. There is also a nice hotel restaurant that makes a nice dinner and a breakfast buffet for an additional charge, people from the surrounding area came to enjoy the breakfast on a relaxing patio.

The hotel’s location isn’t the best. I searched for it using “City Center” but that can also means not in a good part of town. The taxi driver said it is a historic area of town but it isn’t a tourist center of town. Lots of local people were catching public buses and our taxi driver told us not to leave the hotel at night. Practically you will need to take a 30-minute taxi ride from the airport or a 20-minute taxi ride from the bus station. If I had known this I would have chosen a hotel closer to the airport, the taxi driver said nicer hotels are located closer to the airport.

The rooms were basic but did the job. We booked 3 rooms. Only 1 room (room 40) had a moldy smell. Only stayed for 1 night so toughed it out and did not report it to management. Other than that, it was in a great location near lots of good restaurants. And walking distance to many tourist spots. Great little corner bar right across the street as well!

My room (40) smelled like mold. Possibly water behind the closet cabinet. Or behind the walls of the bathroom. Was very potent smell.

We were given an amazing room on the main floor although there is an elevator. Beautiful colonial architecture. The breakfast was very good 2 of 3 mornings. Great shower.

Initially the square out front was a little off putting as there was a lot of litter and street people but I was never approached by anyone for a handout and ended up sitting in the square myself people watching and enjoying the sun. I can't say the same would happen in Canada. Good little 711 on the corner.

The location was fantastic. The hotel is beautiful. Staff was friendly. We paid to have breakfast daily. It was a good variety of buffet style. If you wanted something different you could have asked the staff. Breakfast is from 8-11am. They did have breakfast one morning at a different hotel 2 blocks away. I would recommend this hotel, but, I would stay further in the back area as the noise does carry from the open lobby area, especially, if you get a room above as we did.

The noise in the hotel carried because it's an open area in the lobby area since it's wide open to the 2nd floor. There were 2 bars across from the hotel where you could heard karaoke & music till late hours. There are many rooms in the back area & I think if I stay again, which, I'm good with doing, I would stay further from the entry rooms above. Other than that, it's would have rated a 10 out of 10.

Location was very central - just a few moments from the historic downtown.

It would have been nice if there was a policy of enforcing 'quiet hours' late at night and early in the morning. We were constantly amazed at the number of guests who were yelling and screaming in the corridors well after midnight and early in the morning with no respect for other guests.

The look of the hotel was great. I really enjoyed the small courtyard. The bathrooms were updated and had plenty of hot water. The room service was unexpected but welcomed. I enjoyed the fresh towels every day. They also had inexpensive laundry service available. It was a short walk to the center. The service at the restaurant was great but the food was a bit underwhelming. The staff in general was very friendly and always willing to answer our questions.

The beds are very firm. Overall, the bedding could do with some updating. The pillows were very tired looking and yellowed. One of our pillow cases had a strange stain but housekeeping changed it out. The floors looked clean but could have used mopping. I wore my flip flops so that my feet wouldn't get dirty. Overall, I feel like it was a good deal.

The location is very central. Our purpose was to go shopping and this location was a good middle ground to either walk or take a taxi to commute.

The rooms are spacious and clean, internet in the rooms were spotty. Trying to stream a movie or tv show was difficult as the connection was in and out. The bed was super stiff and it made us miss our mattress at home.

Enjoyed the breakfast. Especially the ladies who were in charge of the buffet. The head housekeeper did an amazing job of making sure everything was okay with the room. The front desk was helpful as well. I loved that it was an old historical building.

The first room I was assigned smelled of mildew and the Wi-Fi didn't work well in that part of the hotel. I asked to be moved and they put me in a very nice room with a huge bathroom! The Wi-Fi worked much better in the new location.
