Nepali Ghar Hotel

The room is spacious and very cozy, comfortable bed and very nicely decorated. The woodwork inside the hotel is just amazing! We also ordered room service and the food was delicious! It was definitely worth the value.

Nepali Ghar is a great hotel, and I enjoyed my stay there. The staff are fantastic, very helpful and polite. The decor is lovely, tasteful and sophisticated and the hotel is thoughtfully designed throughout. The rooms are very clean and comfortable complete with kettle and tea & coffee, water and refillable bathroom items rather than individual small plastic packets, which is great. The reception area, restaurant and rooms are heated in the winter months, and this makes staying in and working from the hotel a pleasant experience. The wifi is good. There is a complimentary lounge with sofas and tables, plus a lovely terrace which is a nice quiet place to relax whilst having a cuppa and a biscuit. Breakfast is good, with a good range of choice, including fruit, pastries, cereals, salads, hot and cold drinks plus cooked items, which during my stay were cooked to order. The restaurant is fine and has the usual range of items available in tourist restaurants - a few Nepali & Indian dishes, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, chow mein etc. The bar is also nice in the courtyard, with very well made cocktails and a good range of beers and wines. There are many other restaurants, coffee shops etc within very short walking distance. The location is great for Thamel, and the hotel is surprisingly quiet despite being so central, an oasis of calm. Complimentary yoga in the mornings is a fantastic bonus! Nepali Ghar is my favourite place to stay in Thamel Kathmandu - I have been travelling to Kathmandu regularly for over a decade.

Stayed for 2 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful. Reception did an awesome job on helping us print documents, and showed us how to use their in-room TV. Beautifully designed hotel. The bathroom was clean and modern. Room was clean and spacious. There are fly screened windows. And even a sliding shower door! Location was central to Kathmandu city. Felt safe staying here with the 24/7 security guard. The roof top bar/restaurant is a hidden gem. They had peaceful zen music playing which made dining really enjoyable. A real cosy vibe. And the view from the outside roof-top was spectacular! I would highly recommend their chicken bolognese, it was delicious! Overall a great hotel with good standards for Kathmandu.

Beware the bathroom floor tiles are extremely slippery, especially if you're wearing their in-room slippers (I slipped a few times). Water pressure coming out of the vanity tap/shower head is weak and hot water was a hit and miss at times. Woke up in the middle of the night with 3 enormous sized mosquito bites. As I was chewing on my food at their restaurant, I had to spit out a piece of metal scourer! It hurt my teeth and gums, and the F&B attendant did not wipe it off my bill. In-room towels were not checked, there were brown stains on them. Also wasn't a fan of their bottled water, it tasted like plastic and was acidic on my teeth.

I LOVED everything about this hotel. It was my first time in Nepal and Im SO happy I booked Nepali Ghar. Their attention to detail and just the building itself makes you feel like you've stumbled across a secret mountaineers (luxury) lodge - with people coming and going from the Mountain. Sitting around the outside bar/ fireplace - sharing stories. Honestly - it was perfect. PLUS, it's immaculately clean, the staff are world class, the inroom dining food is some of the best Ive had anywhere and you couldnt ask for a better location. I am recommending it to anyone who will listen! :)

The doors have a weird buzzer system that buzz if you dont close the door properly. Weird.

great restaurant and bar. the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. free yoga at 6:30 am. the breakfast was huge! they have refillable products in the bathroom which was nice. lots of TV stations. we slept with the windows open (see below) and it was a bit loud at night.

The aircon didn’t work. it made for an uncomfortable sleep as the comforters are heavy. they explained that the entire floor either needs to be hot or cold on the first night and the second night that it was broken.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed doing christmas, and this place had the perfect cozy vibe for a stay doing the christmas holiday. The room was incredible clean and very comfortable. The staff was also very helpful.

We had the hotels christmas buffet/dinner on the 24th of december. It was a great experience overall but unfortunately the food wasn't very tasteful which was a shame when everything else was great. We came pretty early but the buffet had already run out off soup and meat, so we had to only eat the side dishes. It was the same issue for the breakfast buffet that wasn't very taseful even thougt the selection was good.

This hotel is beautiful and a work of art. As other reviewers have stated, the hotel and rooms are even better than the photos suggest. From the welcoming lobby and staff, to the stunning rooms, I would highly recommend staying here as a peaceful sanctuary to come back to from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. The beds and bedding were luxurious and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent. We stayed again on our return to Kathmandu. The location was great, on an adjacent road to Thamel Marg. Wish we could have made more use of the daily complementary tea and biscuits on the roof top lounge/terrace.

First the location of the hotel was great. Its just on the border of Thamel, so it’s not so crowded but not too quiet either. There are plenty of restaurants/cafes/souvenir stores nearby so I recommend exploring the area. The service of the staff were as expected. Extremely nice as soon as we stepped out of our taxi. We were greeted warmly and even offered refreshments. After having our luggage taken to our room, we were given a quick tour of the hotel. Any questions we had were answered and resolved instantly. Me and my partner booked a double bed executive suite and was amazed by the room setup. As expected, it’s clean though they could do some deeper cleaning, but it was never a huge issue. We were also on the 4th floor, where the view from the balcony was amazing. Finally, the restaurant located on the ground floor had indoor and outdoor seating. For dinner they were showing the world cup as it wasn’t available in our room TV. It was no problem as it was cool and had great food.

The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast is wonderful, and the location is perfect; central and yet a quiet little oasis in busy Khatmandu. The manager upgraded my room due to a noise issue in the previous room, and I had a lovely suit with the most comfortable bed.

There's really nothing I can say I didn't like as the staff ensures your stay is as comfortable as they can possibly make it.
