Heartland Hotel Auckland Airport

It was great to have 24/7 free shuttle, it was humid hot in Auckland and opened the door of my room and the A/C was on and the room was a nice temperature. Ordered room service and settled in to watch some TV before sleeping. The hotel is close to the airport, my room was on the 3rd floor I didn’t get any outside noise waking me up during the night. The room has a spa bath that I didn’t realise until the morning. The shuttle drivers were really great they helped me with my bags and mobility walker.

The food was quite pricey $30 for a beacon sandwich I ended up just getting a bowl of chips with aioli and tomato sauce. I didn’t receive a fork & there weren’t any in the room. I didn’t realise that the shower was above the bath, having bad knees I couldn’t risk having a shower, I couldn’t see a slip resistant mat to put in the bottom of the bath. But I was only there one night and can cope without a shower for one day.

Comfort and cleanliness is top notch, and the proximity of rooms to other family. We had a meal at the restaurant and that was lovely.

Airport transfers - the directions given in the first call when enquiring where to go upon arrival at the international airport were not clear. On the second call, they were clearer but I think still missed important information in that it is a long walk to get to the location of the transfer. I had elderly family members who are challenged with their mobility for longer distances, and I feel that needs to be important in the communication of availability of transfers. If I had known it was that far for them, I would've made other arrangements. Accom - our room was located next to the central air conditioning units and it was noisy in the middle of the night/early morning.

The hotel was within close proximity to the airport, great shuttle service from the terminal pick up point and to our car rental depot near by. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and were great assisting us with arranging shuttle pick up us. The room was spacious with a good size bed, seating area, and a nice bathroom. We enjoyed the food in the restaurant too, both evening meal and breakfast.

The bed could have been more comfortable, it was a little too soft for our liking, but the bedding and pillows were good quality and very clean. Some of the carpets were looking very tired in places, both within the room and along the corridors, but in fairness to the venue, there were notices displayed indicating new carpet was due to be laid in the near future.

I received very clear instructions from the hotel on how to call for the shuttle upon arrival at the airport. The wait for the shuttle was not too long and the drivers on both trips were pleasant. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and spacious, if somewhat dated. The refrigerator was a good size. Having a desk and an eating table was nice. We only stayed one night, but felt the room was big enough it would have been comfortable for an extended stay. There was a portable fan in the room, but we did not need it because the AC was working well.

Because both of us use a CPAP machine to sleep, it is very helpful to have power outlets on both sides of the bed. This room did not. We travel with a power strip with a long cord for this reason, but it is somewhat inconvenient to have to crawl around on the floor to plug it in, then send it under the bed to reach the other side. The shower was quite narrow, and the shower curtain clingy. For older folks it is difficult to step over into a tub to shower. While our room was a comfortable temperature, it was quite warm in the public areas. We were not overly impressed with the options and quality of food in the restaurant.

Was a fantastic last minute deal, which was amazing value for money and suited our needs of close to the airport before our morning flight the following day. Staff were AMAZING! (From the Maulik on front desk, to the resturant team, to who we think was the manageress who personally showed us to our room and even pushed our bag trolley, to the brilliant, friendly shuttle driver to the airport). The kids absolutely loved the pool. Rooms were clean, tidy and very spacious. The pizza in the restaurant was DELICIOUS! DEFINATELY RECOMMENDED!

The only thing we could say was that the water was off for maintainece when we arrived, but we were allowed to check in before normal time (thanks!) And it was back on by the time we normally would have arrived so this was not at all a problem or inconvenience to us at all and the staff were great about it and explaining. So not really even a problem.

The room was very comfortable, though smelt a little musty. My thanks to Bessie on reception who made my arrival very warm and welcoming. The shuttle service the next morning to the airport was excellent as was the pick up service on our return to NZ. I'm sorry I didn't get the name of the driver as he was great.

I was disappointed that when I was in Japan I discovered that I had left 3 items in the hotel room. I sent a message to the hotel via their scenichotels website as I could not find an email address directly to Heartland. On my return to NZ I asked at reception about these items and was told that there were no items noted in the Housekeeping notes. No offer was made to recheck with Housekeeping, even though I told the man on the counter that they were in a drawer. I was dismissed. I am staying at the hotel again on Monday 9th October as this is prebooked, however, would not stay again as I have lost confidence in the staff.

The shuttle driver was very welcoming and engaging - I forgot his name but it was the Russian fellow. ?Hammad. Very friendly and a great introduction to staying at the hotel. Bathroom facilities / amenities were great and it was very clean. I stayed in room 207. It's always pleasing to have laundry facilities nearby also for guests to use.

The only shortcoming was that the front desk clerk didn't really say much upon check in - perhaps because it was the early hours of the morning? I wasn't asked for my passport/ID just for a credit card and there was no explanation about breakfast, other amenities etc - it was more like "here's your room key, its down the hall upstairs" Air conditioning unit to the room was aged and was oddly located directly above the main door to the room, which meant neither of the beds / bedroom was in direct face of the air conditioning which I imagine would be a problem if it was peak summer weather.

I have stayed previously and really like the closeness to the airport. The staff at reception, restaurant and bar are some of the best and we really enjoyed being in their company.

I didn’t like that the staff member who was abused by a tourist because he didn’t want a “quiet room” on the bottom floor was spoken to like he was and could not defend himself. We had him straight after the rude guest and he was very helpful and I seen his demeanor change when the man come back down. Definitely was a case of the customer is not always right.

Location plus airport shuttle were the drawcards for me as it was then only a 7-minute walk from hotel to my car rental. It was so convenient I cancelled my return hotel and re-booked here too, dropping gear then car in reverse. Forever grateful to the staff for then squeezing me on an already-full shuttle early the next morning to the airport. Rooms both times were comfortable, good beds, some nice toiletries, cups and jug. Pity I wasn't there long enough to enjoy the extravagant 1-bedroom apartment I got last-minute for the return trip, but it was certainly roomy! Also wonderfully quiet - the studio room on my first night was facing the main highway and a bit noisier. Average value for money, I think. Not the cheapest, nor the most expensive when it comes to airport accom. Ate in the restaurant once and enjoyed the meal. Good takeaway coffee from the bar/barista in the reception area, very handy for a quick getaway onto the road. I will very likely re-book here again.

Everything. They were so welcoming and accommodating. Nothing was a problem. Awesome restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. The reception team and shuttle driver helped me so much. I am 20 weeks pregnant and my daughter (10) and I were heading to the Gold Coast to join my husband (our family is moving here and he had been gone for 8 weeks already). They lifted all my suitcases (we had so many) for me, stored the suitcases overnight so that I didn’t have to take them to my room. Then they loaded them back onto trolleys and into the shuttle for me. It was a difficult time saying bye to my family and their kindness and care meant a lot. The restaurant staff gave us a beautiful family farewell dining experience (we booked for ten people) for our final night in NZ. The rooms are just perfect and the shuttle is super convenient. I highly recommend staying here if you are travelling.
