The breakfast was excellent although my partner who had the hot option every morning told me that the plate was cold and the 'hot' option was only mildly warm. This could easily be addressed but overall the breakfast was varied and very enjoyable and the breakfast room warm and inviting. The staff in the dining area were particularly good ( and this included in the evening). The bedroom was spacious, warm and cosy, and also very clean. The ski bus stops just outside the front door, and the hotel is walking distance to the train station, a valuable point when arriving and departing.

The log fire remained unlit the whole week we were there. This was a big disappointment. The sitting and bar area completely lacks ambience. I don't know if it is ever lit. We were told there was a problem with the chimney. The evening dinner menu is extremely limited. We each had the salmon one night which was excellent. We had the vegetable lasagne another evening which had been re-heated and was poor. We had the impression that the hotel was not very keen to have evening diners. The hotel could be fantastic if it got the fire working and always had it on, and also if the evening dinner menu was bigger and more inviting.

I had plans to travel between Bergen and Oslo by train and decided to break up the journey with an overnight in Geilo, expecting to have a lovely hiking break in the middle of the 7-hour train ride... Unfortunately, Storm Hans hit and it was not ideal conditions for hiking (!) and quite a few people staying at the hotel (myself included) ended up temporarily stranded due to the flooding. A *massive* thanks to the hotel staff for letting travellers like me stay inside during the day whilst figuring out/waiting for our alternative travel arrangements. It also sounded like the staff were doing their utmost to accommodate people who needed to stay an extra night or two in Geilo - I'm sure there are a lot of very grateful people!

Beautiful decor inside, rustic and full of artefacts with inviting corners with comfy armchairs . Breakfast was great with a good choice and fresh food. Dinner was lovely but the service was quite slow. Long wait between seating and being served but the food was great. Being a diabetic I asked if it was possible to get green vegetables instead of potatoes. My wish was not only granted but the portions were enormous. Lovely food. All in all great value for money .

Music at breakfast time was a bit loud. Silence is better sometimes :) but it's only a small detail.

The hotel is nicely decorated & around 120 years old. It looks like you have made a journey in time and very stylish. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. We could get coffee/tea downstairs any time which was great. The best part is the lobby/restaurant area: it has nice coaches next to the fireplace where we chilled in the evening with the book. Highly recommended just to relax in a quite & nice atmosphere.

The road to the hotel is bumpy & has a lot of construction. Be prepared if coming by car!

I really enjoyed my stay. There was no kettle in the room but when we asked for hot water, the receptionist showed us how to use the coffee machine for that. It was also among the most impressive breakfast buffets I’ve ever seen—not only was there bacon, ham, 3 or 4 kinds of eggs, a meaty stew, there was smoked salmon, paté, all kinds tinned herring and mackerel, and a waffle machine. Plus the usual continental breakfast spread of bread, cheese and cereals.

Great breakfast with a lot of choice : egg/bacon, cereals, waffle, some gluten free options, fruits, fresh bread, cheese and deli meats. Good location. The rooms were spacious. I liked the heating floor in the bathroom (must really be great in the winter). Good soundproofing, I didn't hear a noise

Would have liked an espresso machine at breakfast. The curtains were not blackout enough. I found the beds a bit soft but slept well.

Its really cozy and modern hotel. Rooms was regular size - typical for today's modern hotels. Clean and comfortable beds. Modern & minimalistic bathroom. Nice view from room window outside. Can't complain much. More than I could ask for one night stay.

I am used a bit to different breakfast set. Don't get me wrong - there where still plenty of choice. Simply not really what I usually get in bigger cities. Nothing more to add here.

Beautiful hotel conveniently situated on the ski bus route, comfortable beds, power shower, food breakfast, had a delicious meal in the restaurant (recommend the salmon). Good breakfast. Helpful staff.

Would recommend booking a Geilo taxi to get to the hotel on arrival at the station as even though it’s not far, the paths were treacherously icy so walking with luggage, or ski gear was challenging. Would have loved an English TV channel or ability to stream Netflix etc.

Vegetarian lasagne was stodgy with not much veg and no passata. At breakfast the fried egg had bacon on the top and there was a potato and mushroom mix but had sausages in it. However the other breakfast offerings were to a good standard. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room

Staff is extremely nice and helpful. they even upgraded us once upon arrival and let us do an early check in. Location is perfect close to the train station and main stores.

I’d make use of the sauna and wellness Center much more as it is a real added value. A hairdryer available in every room is a must
