First Hotel Breiseth

The staff were very friendly and always helpful, even when the information I was seeking was not holiday related. (E.g, in November i'll be moving to Lillehammer to live/work and the staff, especially Ann Cecilie, gave me lots of helpful information regarding this). The breakfast buffet was one of the best i've ever encountered - fantastic choice.

My room was very comfortable but the only thing it lacked was a small chest of drawers. I stayed at the hotel for 10 nights and the hotel provided 5 clothes hangers, which was enough to hang my jackets and trousers. However, the rest of my clothes had to be kept in my suitcase under the bed.

The breakfast was very good. The breakfast room has big windows and looks out onto the street. The parking lot is right next to the hotel and was easy to access. The parking is free. The room and bed were very comfortable and clean. We appreciated the coffee and tea in the lobby and in the room. The staff was friendly. The only downside is that the hotel is older and the rugs are worn and showing their age, as are some of the furnishings. But the important things, like the comfort of the bed and the cleanliness of the room, were very good. The hotel is very convenient to the lovely downtown, which was walking distance away.

Excellent location right near the railway station and walking distance to the tourist sights. Very pleasant and welcoming staff. Lovely character building with lots of interesting artwork. Loved the accommodation made for us in a room that had a two person attic area separated from our adult son's sleeping space below. Old style comfort. Really loved the terry robes and slippers. Great breakfast in a bright room with lots of room. Lots of choices, and good, healthy foods. Liked the real china used. Appreciated the way you could adjust the heat in the room.

Our only concern was the possibility that we might lose one of their unusual keys.

There is a lot to like. It's a venerable facility--125 years old, but with nice updates. The staff is unusually kind and accommodating. They seemed genuinely proud to be working in this historic hotel. The views from the rooms (I stayed in 2) are extraordinary. The breakfast is extensive and excellent. The location is perfect--close to the train station and also close to the center of town, with good shops and restaurants nearby.

I had to change rooms and take a more expensive upgrade, but that was not the hotel's fault, but rather problematic planning on my part. The staff at the front desk were gracious about working with me on this, though.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Central location. Nice breakfast. For some people this would be a negative, but I appreciated that it has clearly been while since the hotel was remodeled. I've stayed in some very flashy hotels in Oslo and while its fun, the constant remodeling has a massive environmental impact. The facilities here are a little worn, but it was clean and comfortable and didnt feel like it was desperate to be trendy.

When I arrived I had no idea where to park. Wound up parking illegally and went inside to ask. All worked out okay but would appreciate clear signage.

Cozy hotel located in the heart of Lillehammer. Awesome breakfast with plenty of options. Lounge with free coffee and fireplace (no fire while there). Sauna (did not use). Friendly reception staff took their time to talk and give out info. Pretty clean room with clean linens and large comfy bed. Small bathroom. Roomy shower cabin. Wi-Fi OK (signal oscillating). Free parking. Good experience over all. I will book again.

I've stayed 5 nights. No room service the first 4 nights. No one emptied the trash bins for 4 or 5 days. They changed the linens after 4 nights. I've slept on one more night after. I still left a chocolate box as a gift for the cleaning lady as a power of example. No welcome gift for Genius 2. Carpet in the room is worn out. Street view facing offices (room 212). TV with some channels - one international. Not enough shelves for clothing. Needs more hangers for 2 people. Two large armchairs in the room that fil-up a lot of space. One is enough.

Breakfast buffet was excellent, a variety of warm meal options most welcome in the cold weather. Location right next to the train station, the downtown shopping street and restaurants, still the room was very quiet and not a sound to be heard from any outside traffic.

I was surprised that the room was not serviced, bed not made or trash taken out each day. According to staff this is some sort of policy, they did provide the service when requested. In my opinion, guests should be made aware in advance that they have to ask for daily cleaning of the room.

Perfect location, easy access to trains and buses, to art gallery and the main street (Storgate) for shopping. The hotel itself has a gallery as well. Every room had pictures, probably copies, of artists who have stayed there in the early 20th century. Breakfasts were tremendous. Beds were very comfortable. Free tea and coffee in the lounge were a Godsend.

I really can't think of anything except for the TV was limited to 5 channels. But I don't go on holiday to watch television.

A truly amazing place to stay at when visiting Lillehammer, especially for this price. The location is perfect (right next to the station, close to the main walking street), the receptionist was very friendly and helpful, the room was very clean. You also get extremely good value for what you pay, for example: the (included!) breakfast didn’t miss anything! Also, the hotel has a nice atmosphere due to all the paintings that are there (I think a lot of them are paintings on Lillehammer). Next time I’m visiting Lillehammer I will definitely stay here. (Just don’t expect much from the room itself, but as said before: good value for what you pay!) (Also, there is a sauna!)

People at desk very helpful learning about Thora Breiseth’s history ; the artists who came for the lighting and stayed. Now famous artists came at Thora’s request. Gabriela (wonderful lady at desk) made it come alive. Breiseth Hotel was a stone’s throw from the train station (literally). The hotel is late 19th century. I visited the Olympic facilities where indignities were inflicted on one figure skater. Do yourself a favor…stay there! Oh breakfasts were awesome!
