Thon Hotel Trondheim

Check in was no problem. Filled up a form, got handed the keycards, and right in to the elevator we went. I requested to get a room on one of the higher floors and we got one on the top floor! We paid for the cheapest possible price, and the room was bigger than I expected. The floors are SOLID in the room we were in. I don't know why I wanted to point that out but I recall I did either a hop or a stomp, and nothing. Just felt like I was standing on a gigantic slab of this heavy and solid cement... on the top floor! There is a small refrigerator and a water heater with a small selection of tea, coffee, sugar and creamers. You can cast your own entertainment on the TV (which was relatively easy to connect to) or just watch the local and international channels if you fancy that. THE BREAKFAST THOUGH. It's an absolute best. The reason why we chose this hotel over other same price range hotels is because the breakfast was best rated of the bunch and I can attest to that. The breakfast is indeed as good as they say. There is SO much to choose from. My partner and I will forever praise the "kladdkake" they have there. The small sausages would be my favorite savoury item, the taste of them is so good. Check out was not a problem either. Gave them our keycards, got asked if we wanted a receipt and voila, done! The staff were great. They said hi everytime we were in the lobby.

Not that it was a problem for our partner and I, but if you want to stay at the top floor (7th floor), elevator is only accessible to the 6th floor and then you'd have to take the stairs to get to the top. Could be good to know if you rely on the elevator. As for the hotel room, you can't fully open the windows which was a little bit of a disadvantage as I don't want to see my own reflection/light reflection while recording videos of the view. I'm a short person, but I've bumped into the diagonal wall/ceiling a number of times when trying to get into bed. But it's just a matter of moving the bed a bit farther away during the stay.

I loved the fact that it was only 1 km from the hospital where my husband had been admitted. My room was a single and was quite sufficient for my needs. The breakfast buffet was really great. They had many vegetarian, vegan, gluten free options, for those that needed it.

Parking in Trondheim is very, hmm interesting, you are only allowed to park for 2-3 hours at a time before moving your vehicle. Many of the parking structures have signs saying "Gas powered vehicles prohibited", this was crazy! Unfortunately, I was unaware of the parking below the hotel. It was not free, but at least you could leave your car for as long as necessary. I ended up staying another night and was able to take advantage of it then. Being in the heart of the city, it naturally, was quite noisy. Fortunately, I was able to block it out and slept fine, but for light sleepers, it would be a nightmare. Had it not been so warm, I would have closed my window, but that wasn't an option.

The bed and pillows are incredibly comfortable. The room was super clean. The staff is nice. The breakfast had an amazing selection of sweet and savory treats. The cold selection was great! It also had a good local selection that made it easy to try some Norwegian items. The location is great. It's very quiet considering that it is in the city center. I would always stay there again.

Breakfast items that should be warm (scrambled egg, sausages, potatoes,...) were cold. They are placed in a regular bowl and not into something that keeps them warm. But everything was very tasty still.

Sitauted at Trondheim Torg, very central, close to many bars, cafes, restaurants and shops. Walking distance to main places of interest including museums and cathedral.

No complaints about the hotel. I was there during a period of heavy Corona restrictions so almost everything was closed

it was clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was great and the staff was helpful and friendly.

it was a very hot day and we couldn’t open the windows but a tiny bit. Our room was on the seventh floor and the elevator goes to the sixth floor. It wasn’t the worst thing, but it was a little strange.

The location is at the heart of the city center. So it's easy to visit most of the tourist locations. Also it's nearby the university buildings in the center. The breakfast is very good. A lot of choice in food and enough tables to sit on.

I like the hotel's location - it is close to everywhere and has a passage to the shopping mall next to the elevator. The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast was excellent (different kinds of food, smoothies, etc.), and I appreciated the lactose-free and gluten-free offers.

Very well located in the city center. Kind and professional staff. Good choice for breakfast. They had one ready to take away for me on the last day as I was leaving very early.

At some point I could hear the tv or the discussion of the neighbors through the walls. The mattress was not totally comfortable. Quite expensive: the quality/price ratio was not as good as similar hotels where I stayed in Norway.

Location is good, you are close to everything. Respect for the breakfast buffet!! There was everything you need and in a good Quality.
