Postojna Cave Hotel Jama

Very friendly staff and a nice hotel. Perfect location.

We were two days there. The dinner was excellent on the first evening, and on the second one way worse. As if there was another kitchen staff on the second evening.

Right next to the entrance to the cave. Modern rooms and hotel. Big free parking lot. During the day there are lots of options for food and drinks. Breakfast is ok.

Nothing to do after hours (17:00ish...). Every thing is closed and nothing to do for dinner. Dinner in the hotel is buffet only and not that good!! There are couple of restaurants onsite and they are all closed for dinner!

The male receptionist was sooo lovely. Wish I had got his name but he was so happy to help us! Not everyone at reception was nice but he made us feel very welcome. Our room was on the 5th floor with a lovely view over the river and the mountains which we loved. We had a bath which was nice but the shower head was leaking. The room was not very clean and the toilet needs to be replaced because it's all scratched so it looks dirty. There were dust bunnies everywhere and the bed wasn't very well made. But not a big deal, it wasn't dirty just dusty. Other than that, we had a good night's sleep and the views were beautiful. Super handy location if you want to visit the cave first thing in the morning. The restaurant and the food were fabulous, definitely recommend. The breakfast was okay. I'd recommend this hotel if you're staying overnight in Postojna.

Everything except…

I might be wrong, but from the parking lot, I didn’t see a flat surface where you could drag your suitcases. I had to literally pick up my heavy suitcase and carry it up the stairs.

The reception and bar/ restaurant staff is very professional, friendly, approachable and helpful. The room we got was very comfortable (not too big but just fine) and clean, and with an amazing view. The location of the hotel is excellent to visit the Predjama Castle, Postojna Cave, Vivarium and EXPO all in one day. It is rather busy with all the tourist groups, so would not stay there for a week, but just fine if one wants to do a quick sightseeing. We loved the Secret Rooms tour! We were allowed to take it in the evening, after 21.00h, great fun to finish off an exciting day of sightseeing!

The buffet dinner served by hotel restaurant is varied but all in all rather expensive and not that great in quality. Understandable that buffet dinner is an easier option for big groups of travelers, but as individual guests, we would rather have had an option to select a la carte, even if there were only a few simple options.

The room was clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast and you could walk to the Postojna Cave. Their shuttle bus took us to Predjama Castle which meant we parked the car and didn't have to use it again till we left 2 days later. It's an easy 15 minute walk to downtown.

The hotel restaurant only offered a buffet at night. Since all of the other restaurants in the immediate area close at 5:30pm, the buffet is your only option. We made due by picking up a sandwich to eat in our room later but would have been happier with an a la carte option in the hotel.

The rooms are nicely designed, nicer than the average 4-star hotel. Staff was very helpful, e.g. when having trouble with Wifi in our room, they solved the issue immediately.

The location is solely for tourists and some what remote from a town. Obviously that is fine for visiting the famous caves at that spot, but to us it was just a stop-over in touring the country. The restaurant only offers a dinner buffet. It's okay, but not what you expect for a 4-start place.

The location was great!!! Just a 5 minute walk to the caves. The hotel was nice and the rooms were very good. The breakfast was good but the food at the park and the restaurant are another story. Months prior to our arrival someone at the front desk helped us arrange transportation for 8 to Lake Bled with a stop at the castle. They always answered my questions via e mail very promptly. I would stay here again but I would bring my own food.

Decided to have lunch at the cafe downstairs. The tea was great but that is where it ends. The food was terrible. Took one bite of the hamburger and that was it. The potato dish was the only thing that was eatable. We were hoping that dinner at the restaurant would be good but unfortunately it wasn't. The only dish that was good was the fish dish. The hotel needs to hire better chefs.

Returning after a gap of nearly six years and we were not disappointed. Fabulous suite…. One of the best we have ever stayed in. Staff were excellent, especially the main chap at the front desk…. great customer service and spoke what appeared to be about 20 languages! Wonderful setting next to the caves…. Very peaceful and calming - a great place to recharge. The caves were even more awe inspiring than they were before - truly magnificent and so well organised. Our guide was brilliant - obviously loved his job and knew a lot!

We honestly can’t fault any aspect of our stay.

Place directly 100 meters from the Postojna Cave entrance. Nice staff. Good local wine from the hotel bar.

After arriving in the evening I was trapped in the malfunctioning elevator. Fortunately, the situation was quickly resolved. Breakfast could have been more varied for the price of the hotel. Check out at 10 a.m. does not allow visiting the cave morning with luggage left in the room.
