Hollow on the Square City Hotel

Quick and friendly check-in. Well received by staff (were all willing to have conversation). Accommodation was spacious and comfortable. Slept soundly on very comfortable mattresses. Enjoyed the tea and coffee provided in room. Toiletries and enough towels were supplied for entire party. We were able to find parking (we were aware of additional cost of R75/day). Car parked outside but was visible from our room and security was on duty. Bathroom was spacious (bath and shower). Sleeper was ready and made up for our littlest in one of the rooms. Menu items at restaurant were slightly limited but catered for our needs. Rooms and hotel in general nice and clean. Breakfast was ample, and the variety (given the pandemic) was good - hot items were made to order. Our request for two rooms close to each other was accommodated. In-room fridge in one room was a bit old but it was clean inside.

Bathroom tiles are a bit outdated and could do with an upgrade. There are some signs of wear-and-tear on doors and entrance frames (easily fixed with a lick of paint). Quality of restaurant items ordered for supper could be improved. The chicken wings and nachos were good but the pizza base was over-done. TV channels (and Netflix) would not load in the one room. Stayed on 1st floor and ledge outside bedroom window wasn't clean - had some sand, leaves and cigarette butts on it (butts probably there because of guests, but it needs to be kept clean).

This property was ideal for our stay. The accommodations were very comfortable. Breakfast every morning was ideal, and the rooms were nice and big, more than enough space for two.

We didn’t like that the room’s lighting was lacking a bit. It would have been nice to have had a lamp or some kind if light in the sitting area, near the air conditioner. There was not much to do there at night, because there was no light. Additionally, two chairs at the long desk/table would have been ideal for the two of us to sit there at the same time.

Even though the hotel was full whilst I was there, it always felt spacious and very relaxed. Staff were great too - particularly 'Bonny' who was always keen to help and be on hand in the reception area to resolve any issue. He even accompanied me to the bank so I could withdraw some cash. And there were no problems with electricity despite the load shedding.

Nothing is perfect but it would be too picky to complain

Central place to go to near CITCC and good value for money compared to the bigger hotel brands. The room was very big and had a big desk.

The bed was a bit too hard for me. Wifi was slow during loadshedding times. Not much going in the ground floor restaurant compared to the other hotels/restaurants in the area but you can always go there instead.

The room was very spacious and clean. The location is really great and within walking distance of pretty much everything. The staff were really pleasant and very helpful

The WiFi signal in my room on the 4th floor was really weak whereas my colleagues who were on a different floor had no issues. After day 3 you get over the breakfast. The same things are served every day.

They did not accommodate my diet and I have requested that No pork to my break fast. Same menu everyday for seven days, was too much.I ended up not taking breakfast that is paid for.

We arrived early expecting to use the luggage facility and instead got access to our room. Staff are some of the most engaging and friendly we've come across. Room was huge, bath and shower and the bed was really comfortable. Fridge, tea and coffee maker. Very large in room safe. Great location, gop on hop off bus stop 300m away, waterfront twenty minute walk.

I liked the nice clean room. I liked the excellent breakfast. The staff was excellent and so very friendly. I always felt extremely safe although there were some homeless people around. The place was so well guarded and locked so I never felt unsafe. The guard walked me to my Uber that parked down the street The price was excellent.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and fresh. The staff was warm, friendly and welcoming. 24 hrs security. Felt safe for 2 female travelers.

The bath water took a bit long to get warm. Not a major issue but something to attend to since one don't want to waste water.

The hotel was clean, quiet and we'll maintained. Staff very accommodating.

It took a little while to appreciate how central the location was. I felt uncomfortable walking anywhere on my own as a woman as there were few people about. There was plenty of security staff though.
