Southern Sun Newlands

We went for the ICC T20 World Cup Womens Cricket so this was the perfect location for us! 5 minute wak to the ground. The staff where absolutely amazing went out their way to make us feel welcome and help us with everything. They went above and beyond when it came to taking care of us while we were there. We had an excursion so would have missed breakfast so they packed us a generous bag of food to take with us. This was the perfect place for us and many of our tour company's did come and pick us up from the hotel which was nice as we were just outside Cape Town main city. The hotel management staff and all the other staff members were amazing! Thanks for the amazing service you provided!

We were in for one night only, choosing to overnight in Cape Town, having flown in late and planning to leave early for the Cederberg. Unbelievably, for an "international" airport, there is nothing in close proximity, and the logical thing to do- head off to the N1 or along the N2- is not something I'd risk late at night. So, off to Newlands we went. The hotel is fine. Big rooms, comfortable beds, decent bathrooms and clean. The breakfast was better than average. Staff were helpful and friendly. It served its purpose admirably, and we departed well rested and well fed.

Extra effort made for the two oceans runners (early special buffet breakfasts, special celebration of runners after running with medals, music and archway). Lovely friendly staff. Very comfortable beds. Lovely full breakfast with great complimentary drink options. Excellent location to the start and finish of the two oceans marathon.

An on site gym would have been convenient (although virgin active gym, of which I am a member is really close by). On the Saturday we came in after the marathon after 1pm and the room was not made up yet. The cleaner came in after we had arrived...way too late if you are exhausted and needing to rest. The hot water tap in the basin was not working.

The staff is very friendly and made us feel at home,my kids were also catered for in the first floor play area, very safe also!!as for the breakfast buffet it's just exceptional. Definitely it's a place to stay in when I visit Cape Town again!! Lorenzo en Cindy you deserve a winning Trophy 🏆 very friendly guys!!

Nothing I didn't like about the hotel, it's just a five star inside en outside including the cleaning staff that listen to request.

Back up power! Stayed B&B before, but never again with the power cuts. Newlands Sun backup power made my stay a pleasure. Staff very friendly and approachable. Great breakfast. Access to UCT sports science for gym a big bonus.

Room AC noisy, but manager said new units being installed in phases later this year. Dinner experience mixed - toasted sandwich and chips should be easy to get right. Room key cards kept having to be reset by front desk.

The environment was so friendly especially the staff just to mention few Lucia this girl she deserves a promotion her customer care is exceptional however other staff Kelyne Joseph the main Chef will come around frequently to ask you if everything is fine. My compliments to the entire team

Welcoming was great with the the goodies on the ground floor and the stuff was great on desktop.

I think one of your stuff member need to change her attitude towards people she need to be friendly and have a very good attitude,because we did pay to stay the and have a right to eat the breakfast with our familys,otherwise everyone was good to us

The combination of fabulous staff, convenient location and great amenities made for a comfortable and relaxing visit. The amazing staff was the biggest highlight! Everyone made themselves available any time we needed anything, in particular Rogers, Zodidi, Sydney, Hazel and Nikita. The cleaning staff were attentive and the room was sparkling clean after every service. The breakfast staff were absolutely fantastic, we had everything we needed and everyone had a smile behind their masks! Breakfast was delicious also, thanks to the kitchen staff! The gentlemen in charge of the parking lot were always incredibly friendly any time we were coming or going. Check in and check out was smooth as well. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in and the linens are excellent quality! The view of the mountain from our room was spectacular and the location of the hotel is perfect for anything we needed. The ability to use the gym was an additional bonus!

we would have loved some extra breakfast options, such as the option to order pancakes from the kitchen.

I stayed with my family for 5 nights. The hotel is located at a very strategic place which is near all facilities, includingCavendish mall and minutes drive to V&A and botanical garden. The staffs were welcoming and the rooms are super clean. One of the floor managers Hazel came to see us with a nice smile whilst we were having our breakfast to check if all is well and make sure everything is as per our expectations. Highly recommended. Value for money.
