Protea Hotel by Marriott Harrismith Montrose

Quiet, comfortable and clean, this is an excellent overnight stop when driving Durban - Joburg. The staff were very helpful and gave us the use of a wheelchair for my mom which made things easier. We had two rooms one downstairs and one upstairs, both were quiet, couldn't hear the N3 traffic at night. Beds were comfy, wifi reliable as I had to do some work zoom calls. Tea, coffee, biscuits in the room. Next time will try the dinner at the pub on the premise, they had the grill going which was very inviting. Would definitely stay again on our next trip down to Durban.

Suggest to make more than one room for disabled (i.e,, with railings in bathroom), as it was taken and would have been helpful for my elderly parents.

We arrived very early (5 hours before check in) and they accommodated us without any issues. The staff is incredible and always assisted when needed. I forgot my purse and they called us right away when we left and returned it to us when we got there-the service was amazing! The property is perfectly located if you want a rest night on your way to Durban as it’s right off the highway which was perfect! The bed slept great!!

Drains in our bathroom stank and we had to vhsmge rooms. In the second room the basin tap would not close properly and leaked heavily all night. Nescafe coffee sachets were terrible, probably old stock.

There was nothing to not like, we just needed a hot shower, cup of coffee and a bed to sleep in. Ticked all our boxes for our immediate needs. With it's location it's not exactly a holiday destination but instead a stop-over in transit hotel.

The location was great just off the. high way as we travelled from Johannesburg to Durban and this was a great location to rest fir our travels. Clean rooms, friendly staff, clean facilities and great breakfast.

To be quite honest I couldn't fault the hotel as it did serve its purpose that we booked it for. We only wanted a quick stop over from our journey and it met our expectations and needs perfectly. Thank you.

The proximity to the N3 made it very convenient to use. Yet, there were no noises from the hustle and bustle close by. The lodging is close to other amenities and foods. There is a nice little pub on the premises. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

If you have a problem with stairs, make sure to communicate this in advance. There is no elevator and limited downstairs rooms.

Location very convenient for my business. Safe on-site parking and prompt booking in at reception. Room spacious, clean and comfortable, with en-suite with good shower pressure. Surprisingly quiet considering situated so close to the N3 freeway!

The manual opening of the gate by a staff members-I arrived very late in the night,it’s not fair to the staff member,pls FIX THE GATE.

Food /breakfast or at least a drink to relax outside.... Would be awesome and made the stay!!
