Hotel Haromar

this is our 5th visit to this hotel. We love Calella and this is the perfect , reasonably priced hotel in an amazing location. There is always a warm welcome. Rooms are clean and comfortable and with a full sea view the location is amazing. Easy access via train from Barcelona or Girona. If driving , there is free parking 2 mins away. Free , really good wiifii, plus a simple but tasty buffet style breakfast. The bar and terrace is open from early till late and a lovely place just to sit. You wont find anything fancy here but then the prices reflect this. Take a travel kettle if you need too. The location is what we stay here for.

nothing, thats why we keep going back. Cant comment on anything we havent used or compare to other hotels in the area , but they are so much more expensive but without the views and easy to reach location.

The location is perfect for the Ironman events, its just across the road from the finish so you don't have far to travel after the event. Its also an ideal location when it came to my family, they had very little distance to travel to the Event/beach/local restaurants and of course, shops.... I have stayed in this hotel for the last last 3 years and it suits all my needs. The staff are really nice, the rooms are quite spacious in comparison to my friends rooms in other hotels and the breakfast is consistent, offering every thing you need. The beds are very good, clean and quite comfortable, resulting in a good nights sleep. Although the building itself is a bit dated, the facilities are fine and kept in good order. Its surprisingly quite for a large building, I think its because the hotel is located away from the busier areas and right next to the beach.

Adding chopped fruit to the breakfast area and offering scrambled/pouched eggs to the breakfast bar would be nice too. And maybe a couple of larger plates ?

The hotel is located just few steps from the beach, city centre and not too far from the train station. We had half board (breakfast/dinner) selection was huge, the meals changed every day and you could taste everything from salads, meat to sea food and desserts with fruit. Staff was very nice, especially the ladies in the dining room

It might have been only our room but the beds were super noisy, every single movement was followed by noise which is really uncomfortable especially at night Paper thin walls so get yourself a pair of ear plugs Just keep in mind that no drinks are included for lunch and dinner

The room was fine, the shower worked, the bed was comfortable, We had half board and both breakfast and dinner had several choices and there was plenty of it. The location, near to the town and the station, was ideal and just across the road was the beach. Plenty of bars and restaurants near if a change of menu was required.

My room was quite noisy as I was next to the lifts and right next to the housekeeping store. I was woken every morning at 7.30 by loud voices, slamming doors and banging, crashing carts while the cleaners prepared for their labours! No one else in our party had any problems, so I was just unlucky I guess.

The hotel is excellent value for money. Do not underestimate this hotel. Yes its cheaper than other hotels and maybe doesn't have the pop of others, but it is wonderful. Staff are excellent, hotel, rooms and surrounding areas always clean and not a bad experience had. Great location to beach too and a nice little pool to also dip into. Cannot complain.

Not a criticism, but potentially room specific air conditioning. It's either on, or off. One of our party found it a little too cold and would have preferred a temperature control.

The location was great. The breakfast was great too, also lunch and dinner. the beach and the swimming pool was amazing, very cool. The cleanness was impeccable.

No fridge in the room. my wife is allergic to gluten, she needed to buy her food in the supermarket to keep it inside the fridge. Then she just ate cookies and biscuits for 5 days and a row. The air conditioner was not good.

This hotel offers a value for money, no frills stay. Not the most modern and in need of a refurb but clean and well positioned. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We booked half board including a buffet dinner. The first night the buffet was poor and very little choice. The second night there was lots of choice and very good. The breakfast buffet was excellent with lots of choice. Would be quite happy to stay here again.

As previously mentioned, the buffet one evening was poor. Maybe too many people, who knows ? I mentioned it to one of the dining room staff but there was no explanation.

The reception staff were very kind. The restaurant staff were nice, especially the lady who wears glasses and speaks excellent German, which helped us and answered our questions.

The cleaning of the rooms was less than expected. The maids cleaning the rooms did not seem to welcome the customers. The amount of soap and shampoo was insufficient and the shampoo was never placed in the children's rooms. The elevator was not sufficient at breakfast or lunch times.

Quiet and ideal location for the beach and train station (to Barcelona). Staff on the whole are exceptionally lovely and welcoming: they couldn't do enough to make me feel safe and welcome as a solo female traveller. The fixtures and fittings are dated but it was incredible value for money and the ageing decor didn't bother me at all. The food was varied, delicious and plentiful; fruit, vegetables, rice, potatoes, fish, chicken, pork, beef, cheese, salads and many accompaniments. The lovely waiting staff were so kind and helpful, Debbie in particular made me feel very welcome and loved chatting to her. The hotel predominantly caters for Spanish, French, Dutch and German guests, which was excellent for me; I didn't care that I was the only British guest, I quite liked it! The small L shaped pool is perfectly functional with space for 6 sunbeds, a shower and smaller kiddie pool. There was a luggage room with shower and toilet for use later in the day after I'd checked out; towels and toiletries available in this space. My room was a side sea view (single room with balcony). The single bed was comfortable enough although the plastic sheet was very sweaty (to be expected) and the room was tiny but perfectly functional and fit for purpose. There was one plug socket in the bedroom next to the bed and one in the bathroom. The bathroom was well equipped and large with a bath, shower, toilet, bidet and wash basin. It was cleaned and the towels replaced daily. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would come back for sure. I had a wonderful time.

I'm starting this by saying the reception staff, waiting staff, chef and cleaners were absolutely top notch brilliant, friendly and welcoming; however one of the barman left a lot to be desired. He repeatedly stopped serving me mid-drink to serve other (non English) guests before me. I was made to feel unwelcome despite trying my best to communicate in Spanish and be friendly. It didn't just happen once, but almost every time I was getting a drink, which in the end started to annoy me. It spoiled my experience if I'm honest, I was nothing but polite and friendly and he treated me with distain, which I felt was unwarranted.

The hotel really is a 10 in value for your money! It has a good location and the staff was extremely friendly and the cleanliness of the rooms was great since I stayed 7 days and they always cleaned my room. The hotel has a fairly large room where you can do remote work, which was perfect for me. Therefore I recommend this hotel. What I would advise is to improve the number of power outlets in the telework room and despite the fact that the internet was quite fast, sometimes it went down for a couple of minutes

There were several dead pigeons on the terrace of the building in front of the hotel (that was abandoned apparently), although this is clearly not the fault of the hotel, it was still quite uncomfortable to go out on my balcony and see discomposed corpses
