Clayton Hotel Cardiff

Location was perfect. Staff warm friendly and went above and beyond. Big thank you to the lovely lady who check us in, and did little chocolate plate for friends 50th birthday.

Breakfast big disappointment. Quality poor. Waited long time for replacement scrambled egg (not worth the wait) were not told we could have other egg choices. Buffet not kept topped up. Pastry choice poor. Tables not cleared. Staff couldn’t cope with the amount of customers. For a very nice hotel breakfast didn’t live up to it. I’m afraid not at all value for money. Should of opted out of breakfast and gone to weatherspoons opposite.

Hotel was very close to the BR station which was ideal, as well as being right on the edge of a vibrant city centre which meant getting into the the city was very easy. Room was much as expected and was very quiet, with a decent sized TV wall mounted. Bathroom was good, with a combination bath and shower and the bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning was good which was definitely a bonus as the temperature outside was in the 30's. Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, ample selection of foods catering for all needs.

Albeit located right on the edge of the city centre you had to cross over a busy road in order to gain access to the City which wasn't ideal. Room wise I was given a large family size room with a double and single bed which was ok, but would have preferred having a better seating area instead of the single bed. Bathroom wise would have preferred a large walk in shower instead of the combination bath and shower. Compared to previous stays thought it was a bit expensive

From start to finish the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were there for my husband’s birthday we walked into the room to find balloons, chocolates and a card from the hotel so lovely the little touches like that really make a difference. The room was well equipped and the views of Cardiff were superb. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent. This is our second visit to the hotel and it certainly won’t be the last. The location to town is brilliant and we parked in the station car park a short 5 minute walk.

Selfish guests slamming doors at all hours which of course is not the hotel’s fault.

The breakfast was okay, but it could be more extensive. The mushrooms and potatoes ran out and there was no variety of pastries. The selection of jam and marmalade should have been packaged in packets rather than in a jug and spoon for everyone to use. Not a very clean method. The location of the Clayton hotel was fantastic. It is close to the train station and all the shops

Breakfast could have been better but the staff especially Gina was brilliant.

Hotel is in a perfect location, near enough to all public transport and located at the bottom end of the city centre. The staff are some of the friendliest I've ever dealt with during a stay. Breakfast was cooked nicely with a good spread. Rooms have fantastic air conditioning too.

The executive room I stayed in was very underwhelming and definitely did not have an executive feel to it. Was a cramped room and absolutely not worth the upgrade cost I paid seeking a nicer experience, it felt on par with standard rooms I've stayed in while in other Clayton hotels.

I had a great stay at Clayton hotel. The staff were very helpful and flexible with my needs. Janelle was very helpful! I was new to Cardiff, and had many questions, and she was very helpful! I have been to many hotels, but the flexibility and kindness of the staff at this hotel was incredible. Although slightly expensive for me, I would love to go back!

Couldn't have picked a better location. Very nice rooms and dinner was fabulous

Staff at reception didn't know the correct time for breakfast. I was told 6am, went to the restaurant at 6 and was told.by the chef it wasn't opened until half 6. Proceeded down to reception to ask the gentleman who told me 6am that they were closed and he thought differently. I then asked if he could ring the taxi company for me to move up my booking from 6:30 to 6am and he refused to do so. Wasn't very happy about this. Another gentleman rang us a taxi a 6:40 as the booked one had not arrived.

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable beds and perfect location. SO easy to get to from Cardiff Central train station. Plenty of tea and coffee, plenty of towels etc.

No mini fridge in the room to keep things in for my plans the next day. The plumbing sounds like it needs looking at, as the sink makes lots of noise after it's used and the shower pressure is awful. Little things like no shower cap are noticed. I was also kept awake by what sounded like a security guard trying his best to move someone along outside our room in the night (he was doing a good job), but I didn't sleep very well as a result and had to catch an esrly train home to an all day class, so struggled.

The hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the city centre and so close to the stadium for events Room was clean and comfortable Staff are so very helpful and I loved the security on returning to the hotel after a concert 24hr pizzas is a fantastic idea

I understand that as a business you need to capitalise on events, but £320 was pricey for a 1 night stay for a room that is usually around £80-£90 and then a charge of breakfast on top

The Hotel was very near to the Railway station, 2 minutes walk, Also very near to the Castle and the Night Market, Lot of food and shopping options, The site seeing bus also goes near the hotel. Apart from the check-in experience other things were fine

It was Raining when we arrived, the check in staff were not helpful, i asked for an umbrella they flatly refused, I had to spend GBP 20 and buy overpriced but bad quality umbrellas from the Station shop. They also did not allow us to check in early even though it was already 1430 and check-in time was 1500, finally we got our room keys at 1515 Hrs., we had to wait at the lobby, our clothes slightly wet from the rains.
