Merchant Quarters Apartments

Loved the location and with the apartment being on the 9th floor provided exceptional views of the mersey which was great to watch all the different types of river traffic 👍 Also very quiet and with parking next to the building took the stress out of finding a secure place to leave the car. Plenty of towels were provided and also an additional 2 sets were available as the apartment can sleep up to six .

The apartment was a little run down in places, cracked work surfaces and a badly damaged wooden floor that lead onto the patio, which was locked as suspect the water damage was caused by a door not sealing properly, a shame really as we would have liked to have had the option of using the patio...also the beds weren't that comfortable 😒

The room was very well appointed and the kitchen functioned well. Everything was clean and tidy and undamaged. The view from the 10th storey balcony over the River Mersey was A1+. The WiFi functioned very well. When I encountered a problem the staff proved v helpful. For what I paid for the room the quality was excellent.

Finding it was a little difficult and the signage / instructions regarding parking were a little lacking. The door entry system left something to be desired in that if one did not lurch like Usain Bolt from the keypad to the door the door had locked itself again by the time one arrived. The card for the WiFi code was utterly useless, thus requiring a phone call.

Spacious, tidy and comfortable apartment overlooking a busy road and with a nice view towards downtown, but situated sufficiently high to make traffic noise barely audible. All the amenities you would need. I did not find the bed too soft or too hard, just perfect for me. Would definitely stay again.

Although the big heatwave was over, it was still quite hot in the apartment despite everything I tried to do. Also their fire alarm system is connected to the large hotel in the same building, increasing the chance that it goes off all of a sudden for no apparent reason. Happened to me once in the middle of the day just as I came in from my walk, I was quite shocked and it went on for several minutes, so loud that made it impossible to do anything.

The location was excellent close to a multi-storey car park , easy access to the Royal Albert Dockyard and within a short walking distance of local amenities and the city centre . High standard of cleanliness . Superb views over the river Mersea . Peaceful .

Apartment 28 urgently needs maintenance . The bathroom required the plumbing to be checked - the toilet took 15mins to refill for flushing and during this time the shower temperature could not be regulated as there was no cold water . Some of the tiles on the balcony were loose making it an unstable walking area . The patio door did not close securely . A bare minimum of kitchen equipment was provided and no hair dryer available

It was central location close to city centre with beautiful views of the city.

The ensuite bathroom smelt like drains, the main bathroom toilet didn't flush properly, we were only able to flush it 3x over the course of the wknd. The general cleanliness was ok the floor in the main bathroom had toenail clippings on it. I ask for a late check out which I received notification to say it had been granted at no extra cost, to then have cleaning lady turn up at 11 am to say we needed to check out as she was here to clean. After speaking to the management we were told we could get ready and have a late checkout but if we could leave sooner as they had another party arriving at 14.30.

The location was excellent and the view from the apartment was exceptional. The hotel below was useful for getting a coffee or a taxi or a meal.

The check-in / check-out procedure was quite lax. The beds were a little soft for us and they moved on the polished floor. There was no ventilation in the apartment other than to open the balcony door. There were no instructions on how to operate the heating system. A chair would have been useful in the bedroom. The entrance code entry was a little problematic and difficult to see when it was dark.

the decor was a little tired with some signs of damp on the lounge wall and the bathroom floor is in need of a major repair as the tiles have lifted and the grout is missing in places! we were unable to prep any food in the kitchen as there were no kitchen knives in the drawer, there was however a chopping board in the cupboard…. there were also no tea spoons that we could find, but we obviously managed with a desert spoon!

Absolutely loved everything. the view was amazing, if i stayed again i would definitely prefer the waterfront view though! All amenities there. even a iron and a lot of storage for clothing. amazing balcony and staff were so lovely let us keep our bags in the room until we had to leave for the airport :)

The only thing i didn’t like were the pillows in the bedroom they were rock solid and not comfortable, which could be easily sorted with newer pillows on the bed.

The best thing about this apartment was our view! We could have sat in there and looked out at the cruse ships all day long. The apartment was very spacious, bigger than the photos looked. It was only a short walk to the city centre and the venue for a gig we went to! Staff where very easy to contact and replied fast. Would recommend it to anyone!

The bed in the master room could have been a bit bigger, and bathrooms could be updated and a little TLC to freshen up the place!
