We had a lovely room and the staff were fantastic. Breakfast was excellent. We asked to stay an extra night and they offered to move us to a room away from the conference which was arriving. Beautiful building and location.

Things like curtains which were shorter than their linings because they had shrunk in the wash. Curtains stained from water leak. Windows misted up because double glazed unit has blown. We were told it's going to close for refurbishment and it needs it but I dread to think what that will do to already expensive prices.

everything was great.

other guests a breakfast being awkward with the staff, and eventually getting their breakfast for free, through no fault of the staff. It was a shame to see the hard work of the staff rewarded in this way

Breakfast was lovely and you cannot get a better view. We had the best view from room 9 and if was summer time our balcony was enormous with stunning views the perfect place to sit and take in the view.

The hotel its self had a lovely atmosphere but beginning to look a little tired in places in need of an upgrade, which we were told was on the cards for this year.

View from the room overlooking the lake was exceptional as it was also from the conservatory. The stillness of the lake from late evening to the dawn was so peaceful. The views allowed for observation of the varying weather conditions from Sun to rain with rainbows thrown in for good measure.

The bathroom was lacking in areas (loose seat, but it was very clean just not as modern for an hotel of this standing. The other aspects of the hotel, staff and views more than made up for what we personally observed as lacking. Our stay was just prior to the hotel starting a full refurbishment of the hotel which I understand will be of very high standard.

Room was big bathroom big lovely couldn't of asked for anything more

When I booked the price was £452. When I finished the booking with no extras it was £575 so NOT HAPPY with price. Although the room was lovely heating not working had to bring in small heaters which was great. The lady in reception no idea what accent it was but couldn't understand what she was trying to say after a few times of asking her to repeat felt rude to ask her to slow down and repeat found that very overwhelming when we first arrived. Didn't like the menu. Have been to alot of place in the northeast with the same type of menu ( crab & Lobster) one of my favourite so I no what I like that's why I picked the hotel. The menu didn't have much choice and was repeated every night

the location is spectacular, with the lounges, dining room and terraces all facing the beautiful views of the lake. our room had a lake view and a private balcony overlooking the lake. gardens were beautifully kept with seating and even deck chairs spaced around. room was large with very comfy bed and selection of pillows, white company toiletries, ultra soft robes and slippers. the staff were extremely helpful and professional, but still friendly. superb service. my husband was given a birthday card, chocolates and a special birthday mint choc dessert. breakfast menu was extensive and enjoyable. dinner was amazing. a fantastic time to spend a special birthday.

there were some minor flaws in the decor of the room, but I would not let these detract from the overwhelming vista of the location.

Excellent friendly and efficient staff. Some very nice historical features to the buildings, and the lakeside location is exceptionally beautiful. Bedroom excellent in size, and extremely comfortable mattress.

Overall, although the hotel is very well appointed, on close inspection it has quite a few tired-looking corners, in terms of decoration and finish. The room's bathroom, especially, although of a good size, was in a really quite poor state, with missing shower tiles, poor grouting, and generally dated units. We gathered that a major refurbishment is being started in September, lasting a year, and perhaps this will address some of these concerns. It is clear that, by comparison with other highly rated hotels in the vicinity, the lack of pool/spa facilities is seen by many as a disadvantage. If such facilities are introduced, we hope that the more traditional features of the hotel are not compromised. The reception area is strangely unpromising for a hotel of this standard.

Our room was in the Lake House. It was spacious and clean with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. The view from the balcony was gorgeous. The bathroom was spacious and had all the necessary items and towels. The rain shower is just amazing. A torrent of nice hot water! The breakfast and dinner options were good and the dishes were excellent. We sat in the conservatory for both the meals. The view from the conservatory is just gorgeous making for an excellent meal experience. The staff was very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. We just stayed one night but had an excellent stay at Langdale.

Nothing not to like!

View from the room was very nice, and unexpectedly we had a small tv room attached to the bedroom which was a nice surprise. The staff were very friendly and gave us free coffee while we waited for our room to be made up. Setting was very nice, enjoyed walking the grounds and looking at the scenery.

The décor is dated, gives a slight feeling on uncleanliness but its an old building and comes with the territory, however i think a refurbishment is due. There is a piano in one of the main social rooms downstairs, I think that needs to be shut/locked/signed so people don't use it after 10:00 as one guest somehow thought it would be a good idea to badly play a tune on a out of key piano at 10:00 on the night we stayed, not appropriate behaviour but I guess some people weren't born with a respectful gene.

What a Magnificent place to stay! The staff were wonderful. The unimpeded views of the water and hill as & mountain beyond we’re just amazing! A great selection of delicious Meals! So much to love

The water pressure in our wonderfully appointed bathroom is the only (tiny) blot on their record. The shower is gorgeous but the pressure does not match. That being said I cannot imagine how hard it was to pipe water through a historic building so I suspect it is a common issue in buildings like this. The Bath more than fulfills it’s promise of luxury
