AC Hotel by Marriott Gainesville Downtown

a bit austere for my liking. Had stayed at AC in Sarasota recently and felt that it was much more interesting and had a very upbeat vibe. Parking/valet was a problem. We did valet and it took a very long time to get our car even though there were 2 valets who were really hustling. Also, the buffet wasn’t impressive, although the egg dish was delicious.

We needed special accommodations as one of us is disabled. The hotel kindly put us in a room with greater accessibility.

$30 / night for parking seems a bit steep, but the valet staff were excellent. The AC unit made a loud double-click noise each time it turned on or off. That took some getting used to.

The location and hotel itself can't be beat if one is planning a trip to the university area of Gainesville. It is right across from campus and is close to midtown and the stadium. The hotel room was spacious and comfortable, and had all the amenities needed to make our family's stay there pleasant.

One has to use valet parking there, and although the valet team was friendly and prompt in providing us our car when we needed it, the wait time to receive cars when there are a lot of guests staying at the hotel (i.e. during important college sports events and graduation season) must be longer.

The valet should be free since it's the only way to park (Marriott uses every chance to screw you out of money). The pool was freezing cold even though it was hot outside, it really makes it unusable. The restroom sink in the pool wasn't working. The toilet in the room clogged.

We loved the interior of the hotel. The room was spotless, modern and relaxing. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The location directly across from the University of Florida was very convenient.

The parking was a bit of a hassle being at the back of the building and a few flights up, but it worked. The street behind the hotel was a bit sketchy -- it seemed like most of the houses were probably off-campus student housing where students had never cleaned up from their last party (and the one before that).

Good location. Up to date. Clean. Friendly. Nice view from our room.

Room cleaning has to be requested. We didn’t know this and were disappointed when we returned to see that our room hadn’t been made up.

The hotel is in a great location and has all modern comforts and amenities. The staff is friendly as well.

I do not think there should be a valet charge and parking charge. There should be one charge only as I think $60/day for both is an unreasonable price for a city like Gainesville.

Almost impossible to find the entrance. The entrance is on an obscure side street. The signage is poor. Directions are non-existent. I know the area do I navigated the back streets until I finally found it.

The location is by far the best asset. Close to campus and close to food/shopping.

Housekeeping knocked on our door twice before 10:00 asking if we were leaving. If I'm staying in a hotel, I want to sleep as late as I would like and don't want to be bothered in the morning by staff wanting to know when I'm leaving.

The location was great!! Not far my from restaurants not and the pool on the roof was awesome!!

This place is a bit too pricey not to give complimentary breakfast.
