Bamboo Cottages

One of the best places we stayed in vietnam - everything is understated perfection! the staff are amazing, views incredible and the sea is like a big warm bathtub on your doorstep. great range of veggie food and beautiful setting for your meals. Free kayaks and a pool table. we originally booked for 4 nights and then extended to 7 - so glad we did! added bonus that they are striving to be plastic free so you don’t get all the massive amounts of plastic encountered when staying else where. great place to feel close to nature amongst the mayhem and major development on the rest of the island

The staff is very friendly and extremely supportive: I had issues with my phone and everyone helped me beyond expectations to finally solve it. Bamboo cottages is located a bit far away from the city which is good because you can enjoy the wonderful beach all by yourself. The beach is sandy, the water warm, calm and crystal clear. The restaurant provides an excellent selection of local food, all arranged and prepared very carefully. The tables are both inside and outside, right in front of the sea. The room is big, comfortable and has all you need to enjoy your stay, mine was facing the sea directly which is magnificent. Thank you all the staff of Bamboo Cottages, a true gem in Phu Quoc!

Together with my aunt and uncle I stayed the laat week of our trip to Vietnam on Phu Quoc. We had an amazing time at the Bamboo cottage. The houses are beautiful and clean, I had a house with a few on the sea. When you lay in bed you can here the sound of the waves, I like that verg much. Nice shower outside, surounded by the Gecko’s🙂 On my birthday they decoraded my room with baloons and flowers! Whe stayed there at christmas time and one Christmas evening they arranged a nice meal that we shared all together with other guests of the Bamboo Cottage and the family that own the Bamboo cottage. The servers were amazing and very nice, the food is also very good and the smoothies were amazing!!

This is such a great place to relax. Everything works well and staff are super kind. I read some reviews that made me unsure but after staying here I can only say that those people must be speaking of another place. It’s not a 5 star resort nor does it want to be. There are resorts like that in the island. If you’re looking for that, book that. Here is harmony with yourself and nature. Going to sleep with the sound of the sea waves it’s so refreshing. You wake up energised. Food is really excellent and there wasn’t one meal I didn’t enjoy. Would love to come back and stay again.

People complaining about the state of the road??? Seriously? It’s like 2 minutes of bad road. Is that so serious?

The room was amazing, big and well decorated just a few steps from the water. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Very good breakfast, with vietnamese options. Beside the day we arrived, it was super quiet. Phu Quoc is a very strange island, with the kind of tourism that we try to avoid, so, the Bamboo Cottages was perfect. Very simple and they try to keep things the most natural possible and all the bungalows are made with local materials.

The beach has lots of garbage (all island is like that), they try to clean it everyday, but the trash keeps coming. They suffered a lot with Covid, so now, they are trying to update the resort, but a lot of things are not quite good. For example, there is not hot water in the bedrooms, sometimes the electricy went down, some bungalows are not operating and very old (some are being rebuild). But honestly, if I had to return to Phu Quoc, I will return to Bamboo Cottages for sure. Even with these little hipcups on the way, I prefer simple and natural resorts like this one, instead the big ones that promotes a unsustainable tourism.

It is very isolated, far from other hotels or bars, so it was quite and peaceful. Has it's private beach and very cosy dining place at the beach. Cottage was beachfront and it's amazing to wake up to the sound of the ocean and with gorgeous view. Location is also great, as it's close to city where one can get something to eat, do laundry or catch a beautiful sunset ad well as travel to other beaches. There was almost no people and we felt very special where almost all the place was only for us. Stuff if nice and helpful, tries their best to make us feel comfortable. Place is cleaned every day and fresh towels are put.

I have read so many bed reviews about this place that I want to explain something: There are sometimes gecos, but it's notmal, it's everywhere and they are harmless, does not make sense to complain about it. The last 2 km of the road are not great especially for walking, so get your scooter and enjoy the ride, for us it was a trade off for quite location. Laundry is pricey, so go to the nearest city and do it for 20k per kilo, if you don't want to pay more. We always had electricity, internet and water, there was only no warm water on the last night, but cold water is still usable and it's nice. Food is nice but almost no meat, going out for a meal is easy if u have a scooter

Lovely peaceful location despite construction works nearby (may depend on the location of the bungalow), very friendly & helpful staff, hammocs if you like, very good food and restaurant/bar always open

The room was clean, well decorated and comfortable and exactly as described in the pictures; the bed was very comfy and had a mosquito net. It is a truly relaxing place on a remote beach with a lot of plant and animals species around. Hearing the birds and geckos and the waves crashing is a truly natural feel. The food was very good though some items were a bit pricey. We had a lot of fun with a kayak that we borrowed from the property.

Our room didn't have a fridge, which we knew before. But there was no common fridge for drinks we had bought beforehand (because we knew it is a remote location). So we had to ask the staff everytime to hand us some of our stuff from the bar fridge, which felt weird. There should be at least a source of cold water or an accessible common fridge for guests. Unfortunately trash keeps washing ashore and polutes this little tropical paradise. This is not the property's fault, but cleaning the beach more often would definitely make the place much better.

- Bamboo Cottages’ personnel was extremely profesional. - The place is just amazing. it’s away from everything and it keeps it’s charm. - They never used plastic. - The food was was yummy. There were a few things missing from the menu (dessert) but it was still good. - The drinks such as smoothies were the best that I has tried in Vietnam. There were also things missing from the menu such as cocktails and wine but I managed to get my own wine from the store. - I rented the scooter from them and managed to visit other places. - I was also able to go for a long walk around the beach. I had to go through other hotels but it was not a problem. - Everything was so clean - They had two cute dogs at the property. I don’t know if they belong there or not but all the guess were dog lovers so we really appreciate their presence. They needed some love ! - I had the front room beach (#14) and it was great. The rooms right in front of the beach were the best ones. I just open my door and I was a few steps away from the beach. The rooms at the back didn’t face the beach. - The beach was like a huge pool. The waves are so small. It was excellent to go swimming. - They kayaks were also a great addition to go around.
