John Oxley Motel

Hotel was cheap and I could park my new car in front of my room and keep an eye on it. The outside lights turned off around 9.30pm to stop people hanging around outside.

There was another guest staying that made me feel uncomfortable traveling alone. Constantly sitting outside the room watching everyone’s comings and goings. The smell of his cigarettes wafted into my room all night. Rooms are not soundproof. People were coming home late and chatting outside until very late. Suggest moving the smokers table to the gravel section front of the hotel so that everyone doesn’t have to smell it.

Exceptional value for money. The building looked very ordinary from the outside, but our room exceeded my expectation. The room was clean and tastefully furnished. There was 'real' milk in the fridge (not UHT) and there were little packets of biscuits as well. We were originally allocated an upstairs room, but we were offered a downstairs one by the front-desk staff. This was really appreciated, as we are two 'old ducks'.

When the car park was full in the morning, it was a little difficult to drive out. But these two 'old ducks' were able to, so it wasn't much of a problem.

This is the 2nd time we've stayed here. I'm sorry to say when you first see the motel you think "oh no". BUT we were in room 8 both stays and it was quite nice. It's away from the road so no noise and quite a comfortable room with a microwave, toaster and jug. It also had a double bed as well as a single one with a separate bathroom. I don't know what other rooms are like but #8 is great. Check in is quick and easy and walking distance to some shops. Great value place.

Parking is a little cramped but doable.

This little motel gets full marks from me for value for money. My room was very clean, neat, modernised, very modern bathroom, comfortable bed, good little kitchen area including fridge and microwave, good desk area with 2 chairs, space for luggage, small but adequate cupboard for hanging clothes, aircon. The room was not huge but certainly adequate because of the clever use of space. Even at a higher price, this place would've got a high mark from me but for the very low price, this place is unbeatable.

While effective, the aircon unit (which is quite new) was a fraction noisy. Had I wanted to leave it on at night, I suspect it might've kept me awake. As it turns out, I didn't need it on at night, having warmed the room during the evening. I stayed here in July so the weather was cold outside. The motel is not in the centre of town but driving there takes less than 5 minutes.

The room was exceptionally clean and looked like it had been refurbished, new tiles, vanity, wardrobe etc. I was pleasantly surprised as it was the first one I looked at and chose it because it was cheap and i only needed to stay one night. Very close to everything in Port Mac

There isnt much that i didnt like, good value for money and I presume that there is probably work being done, hence the mini skip out the front

Newly renovated facility in room 8, very professionally completed. Thus, very clean and fresh, with decent beds (Queen and Single). Standard features include, Bar Fridge, Microwave, Toaster, and Jug, with base WIFI offered. There are ample bench and hanging spaces. The bath area has a sliding door, which reduces space. The location is good. An excellent price for the night. A property to return to if in the area.

Not much, the upper parking is a pain to reverse from due to the angle, this can be rectified by reversing into the space.

The room was renovated, beautiful bathroom and room had everything I needed - microwave, fridge etc. The service was excellent - fresh towels and amenities everyday. All very clean - exceeded my expectations.

The airconditioner was a 'window rattler', was very noisy which was obviously particularly noticeable at night whilst trying to sleep. Had a tight carpark.

Initially we thought, mmmm looks dodgy and my PM family frowned but guess what! This place is great. Ok, not 5 star where my brother stayed but hey, it was very clean, the bed was awesome, it was quiet, it had a kitchen and no shower over bath. Ticked all boxes for us and the young manager is doing a grand job. Well done.

I needed to get on the laptop Saturday morning for work and no inside table but a minor consideration and besides, I should not have wanted to work.

The location was excellent. The manager was very good, and the room was amazingly clean. It was not very big, not very small - perfect for family of 4 which we used. Also it had a small kitchen with Electric cooktop, fridge and some basic utensils. Overall, the room, service and location was very good.

Really could not complain about anything, everything was satisfactory. The only missing part was Breakfast, however the motel was built on a fairly small area, so it was all good. My recommendation to the owner is to do some maintenance and repair work to the parking.

The room was immaculate. Very comfortable. Enough cutlery for a takeaway meal and for making my own light breakfast. I enjoyed my afternoon walk. Excellent pedestrian proximity to T/A food .

The parking was a little squeezy and I was nervous about reversing to the turning bay. I also struggled to find ordinary TV channels, as I am not a regular user of pay TV. Eventually found what I wanted.
