Staff was amazingly friendly. I told them I was going to check out early and they even made a breakfast basket. Location was convenient. The Inn had great food. Room was very clean and had hardwood floors.

Discolored water. It's been a long standing issue of the surrounding area for at least several years. They provide water to drink (2 bottles that get changed each day) . The water looks brownish due to the tannins. Eventually I mustered up the courage to shower in it and all was fine. They have a water cooler nearby to refill water but when I used it it was empty. The door sizings are a bit off (maybe due to the weather and expansion of the wood) but after putting extra pressure to close it it would make a loud slamming noise. Maybe noise dampeners for under the door would help due to the noise from the hallway.

everything was great - the entire staff was friendly, even the owner asked us multiple times if we were satisfied, and everyone took time to chat with us as if we were old friends; the continental breakfast (included) was quite good; large room with fridge and coffee/tea facilities; extremely clean; rooms serviced daily; nice restaurant on site with tasty traditional Newfoundland fare; we got lucky and enjoyed free Saturday night entertainment during dinner; super quiet; at night; great place to stay if you plan on taking the Mistaken Point fossil hike and/or want to visit nearby Cape Race

there was nothing not to like - after two days there the place felt like home due to the friendly ambience created by the staff and owner. Thank you John and crew!

I was impressed by the outdoor garden in the back and outdoor social/entertainment area when we first entered as it was pretty and not something that I had seen at any other hotel on this 15-day trip. The inside and outside of this hotel is really elegant and artistic and would be right at home in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, or the Muskokas. It is an aesthetically beautiful boutique hotel that has a hip lower town Quebec city gallery feel to its interior it but with an unmistakeable warmth that you rarely find anywhere in the world. I have travelled to 24 countries and extensively in Eastern Canada and can only think of a few hotels where the service was this great and made this much of an impression. What truly shines are the people that work there. Staff were beyond outstanding, wear multiple hats and you could see and truly feel that they work hard to make this a special and personable stay! This is a great hotel for anyone travelling as the staff went above and beyond to help our young family. Incredibly kind and helpful to us and our children. Easily the kindest staff we met on a 15-day journey and so helpful. We only stayed one night and immediately we felt like we were staying at a hotel belonging to good friends that we hadn't seen in a long time - the staff and locals were so welcoming and personable. An extremely kind local gentleman even offered and gave us a ride to the beach when my young son and I were walking around and exploring the town. The real jewel in the crown of this hotel is a lovely staff member named Colleen. Colleen was so patient and loving to listen to our children's stories, have warm and entertaining conversations with them and accomodate them/us whenever we had a question...and we had many. She is a true gem of a person and embodies the genuine warmth, personal connection and hospitality of Newfoundland. My kids are still talking about her! Thank you for helping us to end off this trip on a high note!

Nothing. This was the best hotel stay on the entire trip (15 hotels/days) and easily one of the best hotel stays that I have ever had.

The hotel was spotless, up-to-date, and spacious. The staff made us feel so welcome, and did many extra little things for us. I especially want to thank you for the garden behind the hotel, where I enjoyed a couple of peaceful hours in an Adirondack chair, enjoying the view. What an exceptional experience! And of course, perfectly located for the Mistaken Point experience the next day.

The meals were delicious and a gluten-free meal was possible - it would be nice to have gluten-free items at the breakfast as well.

Quiet cozy rooms and a fabulous restaurant on site. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I accidentally locked my keys in my rental car and the staff found someone to drive us to meet are tour guide for the UNESCO archaeology fossil tour. They also arranged for a driver to pick us after the tour. When we returned to the inn, the handyman had figured out how to get my keys in the trunk so we could continue our travels. This was an extraordinary effort by the staff!

Nothing but an extraordinary experience!

I loved my stay at the Edge of Avalon Inn. The staff were absolutely wonderful. Big shoutout to John who allowed me to use the dining area to participate in a zoom interview. The room was renovated and clean. The restaurant in the Inn is lovely with an incredible view of the town/ocean. The food was also very good. There isn't much going on in the town, so the Inn is the only bar/restaurant in the area. On a plus side, the grocery store is located right beside the Inn. I would recommend to anyone travelling the Irish Loop.

The restaurant closes early, which is expected during off season. No other dislikes of the Inn. It was a wonderful stay.

The property is well maintained and we liked that there was a restaurant attached. The food was very good and the service was excellent. We liked that the business was family owned and operated, they took care of their business, very well. There was a continental breakfast included, which was quite good.

There early wasn’t anything to complain about.

Breakfast was nice, typical continental breakfast. Food in general was delicious.

I fortunately there was a lot of door banging late at night and it was challenging to sleep. Everything from the hall echoed throughout the room.
