Ceilidh Country Lodge

A beautiful location, with hardworking and friendly staff, who are doing their utmost to continue on the legacy of this lovely Cape Breton Lodge. They worked with us to ensure we got the most out of our stay when my sister’s flight to Halifax was delayed, with a member of staff staying up into the wee small hours so that we could check in and wake up with the gorgeous views of the Bras d’Or Lake. The breakfast is not fancy, but has exactly what you need to set you up for a day of sightseeing, hiking, or even just quietly taking in the beautifully kept gardens. The rooms and bathrooms were kept spotlessly clean by the housekeeping staff and were equipped with extremely comfortable beds, a good sized fridge, a coffee maker, clean towels and toiletries, an air conditioning unit, and more. Each room had a couple of comfy chairs outside, so you could enjoy the views and sunshine at ease. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and were very sad to leave…

Nothing. All our expectations were met, and exceeded.

The owner and managers were very personable, friendly and respectful. We ended up staying a second night, which was unplanned and when I reserved our room online, I received a call to verify our booking, when I arrived the Gentleman seemed genuinely pleased to see us return and gave us the sane room from the night before. The only thing that I could improve on with out whole experience would be tge breakfast, there was no charge but we opted to stop at Tim Hortons which is a 5 minute drive. Overall very pleased with our experience though, I highly recommend this place to anybody

Breakfast

The breakfast was perfect; loved the hot meal option. The A/C didn't work at first but I was able to play with it and eventually it worked. The rooms need a little TLC but they were comfortable and clean. Was surprised to see there was no microwave but owner explained why there are none in the rooms (fire safety issued). Location was perfect; nice view. The staff was amazing; we had so much fun with the owner when he got us mixed up with our son who also was booked to stay there but neither of us knew the other one was booked at the same place. It was hilarious.

The bedding looked new and good quality and the shower pressure and wifi reliability was really good. Everything was clean, newly painted and well-maintained, if older. The continental breakfast was in a pleasant dining room and included makings for breakfast sandwiches (eggs and sausage) beyond the usual toast, coffee and cereal. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the view of the lake was very pretty.

The facilities were older, and the bathroom and carpet could use updating.

The property is gorgeous and very close to the water front. Beautifully manicured lawn with chairs and fire pit. We forgot we were still in NS it really felt like we were some place else. The rooms were very clean, beds are comfortable. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Continental breakfast is provided and no extra cost. Parking is also available at no extra charge bonus! Conveniently located near gas stations and local restaurants! We had a great time would stay there again!

There is not a huge variety for breakfast but the essentials such as eggs, sausage, variety of cereal, breads and spreads, hot and cold beverages are provided. So despite there not being a huge variety we were still able to have a filling breakfast.

Room had a mini fridge to keep snacks cool. Chairs outside our room to sit and enjoy the sun set. Comfy beds, spacious rooms. Loved the screen door so I could leave my room door open and get natural light and no bugs. Owner was really friendly and helpful. Centrally located to do either East or West Cabot Trail.

The shower curtain kept coming into the showering space. Made showering difficult Weights would prevent that from happening. Our door also stuck a lot and there was a gap at the top of the screen door and inside door.

Beautiful and very clean place. I liked the attention to detail, they have a basket of toys and colouring items in the breakfast area for kids, toys outside for the Littles and even some games for the adults. Cute little chalk signs with inspirational messages, etc. The owner and all her staff were exceptional. They checked in on us when they saw us and made sure we had everything we needed. They even let us use their laundry facilities to wash/dry a few of our baby's things since we are on a month long trip. They even upgraded us to a larger room so that we would be more comfortable with our baby and dog. They went above and beyond, I can't say enough wonderful things about them, we are sad we couldn't stay longer. We will definetely be back.

The rooms are a bit outdated but it was very clean and so it really didn't matter. The room was cozy, and even had amenities like a REAL box of kleenex, none of that small sand paper stuff. We enjoyed our stay.

We had a lakeview from our second floor room. The beds were comfortable. Basic motel at lower price than most in the Badeck area. Walking distance to the centre of town with some awesome restaurants closeby.

The place is dated. Most furnishings, bathroom etc. seem like the originals used since the 1970s. Because guests park at your front door/window on the ground level or use the common balcony to access the upper rooms, there is isn't any privacy. You need to close your blinds and door to have privacy.

Location was beautiful staff were so friendly . Very clean , grounds were very pretty and well maintained.

Only minor suggestion is to remove old dated and large tv cabinet and mount tv on the wall would free up a lot of space in room.

Great location.

Our rooms was tired and musty smelling, it could use a revamp. The room above us had a jacuzzi tub and when the tenants fired it up AT MIDNIGHT..... we were rudely awoken to what sounded like a chainsaw buzzing through our ceiling. VERY annoying especially at such a late hour!! If it had happened on our first or second night instead of our last night, I would have spoken to the owners directly.
