THE ASHWOOD INN

The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. The unique room layout is excellent for a family (main bed downstairs and loft area above for kids), especially teens who want some privacy. Beds are so comfortable even our kid who is an early riser slept in and said it was because of this. The whole place is kept very clean. The restaurant food is delicious! The pool and sauna are wonderful. He wooded area behind the hotel has lovely walking trails and a delightful wedding venue. Last time we loved having s'mores at the fire pit, but this time the weather got in the way. This was our second visit and we will be back, for sure.

Pool was supposed to be open from 8am but at 8.45am was still closed. I suspect this was because everyone was checking out after a long weekend and they assumed no-one would use it, but I was looking forward to a morning swim before departure. Not a huge deal though.

No breakfast (nearby Tim Horton's(!) Clean facilities. Pleasant young woman at reception on arrival. Very good parking. Very quiet.

Only communication with staff after arrival was required to be by text message. It felt like the hotel considered itself at the heart of a renewed Covid epidemic... and therefore extremely impersonal.

Lovely room, covid friendly check in process appreciated. Really appreciated the microwave and the fridge as very few food outlets (along Lake Huron shore) are open and running on a regular schedule. Local grocery stores have great prepared meals to enjoy in your room.

When I travel with my elderly mother I book at motels so that it is all one floor and I can part right in front of the room for luggage carrying purposes. Unfortunately if you are assigned the odd numbered rooms you have to carry your luggage through the property, no parking on that side of the building. I did not ask to be reassigned so it might be possible that they would have moved us had I pursued it.

We asked for more towels and they were delivered on time.We had to book a time for the indoor pool due to covid restrictions. We actually forgot to book our time but we were able to enjoy a full hour of swimming. The manager was accommodating. The facility is clean overall. No odours with 2 entrances in and out of our suite . The family suite has a cottage feel and is clean . I would just say there are some surfaces needing a little more cleaning like the kleenex dispenser in the bathroom but overall I would stay here again. Many thanks to staff and owner. Check in and check out was simple and my questions were answered very quickly by text or email..

It felt like a country property - it has a cottage feel with small touches (ie old school clock); it was clean and renovated. It was clear that there is pride in ownership. Communication was clear and frequent through texting, and check in and out was the best I have ever experienced.

It was not well-lit at night and there was not an external pathway to our room aside from Ken through a patio restaurant that was closed fairly early. Plus, when we tried to inquire about getting to our room safely and easily, front desk was closed early so that we had to wait outside a bit to get assistance after returning from a later dinner in Bayfield.

The Ashwood Inn is extremely well run and the staff are very quick to respond, very helpful and caring about their guests. They went out of their way to offer helpful suggestions. The place is very clean and has everything you need. There are special touches - Kawartha ice-cream, delicious Indian restaurant, individual outdoor firepits, indoor pool, small walking trail in the woods right behind the hotel. A lot of thought has gone into giving guests the best experience within COVID restrictions. The family suite was amazing. Kids loved having their own loft room. What a great design!

We loved the private trail just a few steps away from our room. The food at the Inn's tandoori house was simply delicious. The firepit was a great bonus, I wish we had known about the firepit from before then we would have come prepared for the night. The night sky was absolutely breathtaking at Ashwood Inn. Great patio with beautiful lights for the evening time.

There were too many bees and flies, but that could have also been due to the season. We stayed during end of August and September.

Our stay was wonderful in this hotel. Rooms are clean and it was adjacent to the pool area which we really love. The staff are nice and very accommodating. It was kind of last minute when we decided to arrive early and they arrange it right away. I also like the text hotline feature of the hotel. It was easy way to communicate. You can book your spot for the pool per hour which makes you use the pool area privately. Overall, it was really a good experience. I'd love to book again someday!
