Amara Signature Shanghai

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is fantastic with the metro station just a stone's throw away, making it incredibly convenient to get around the city. The highlight for me was definitely the breakfast – it was absolutely fantastic and provided a great start to my day.

The room is big and very comfortable. Pillow menu, auto curtains, rain shower. Desk for work, good size and TV menu.

The service by staff varies from friendly and not that warm. One of my bath towel has hole. Not that convenient though near subway, have to change line for attractions. Off the centre, so if you want to take taxi will cost more.

Very big and nice decorated room. The room service for food is exceptional. I had stomach issue during the stay and only wanted to have rice porridge. The hotel does have rice porridge in room service but only for breakfast time. When I called room service at 4pm, they were very kind and cooked rice porridge for me. Thank you.

There is occasional cigarette smoke seeping in through the rooms. Might need to enforce no smoking strictly. Need to pay for parking.

We loved the rooms, super spacious and the bath was pure luxury. The outdoor pool was an inner city oasis. The breakfast was a super relaxing experience and the staff were friendly and accommodating.

The only food we ate at the property was the breakfast. I had read reviews that it wasn’t very western/vegan/vegetarian friendly so I was fully aware of that when I booked (I’m a vegetarian) but travelling with a young family it is always the better the option. The options, although limited, were delicious and there is so many food options/meituan (food lockers at the hotel) there is lots to choose from.

The floor was not cleaned enough, you could see hairs and dust on the floor in the bathroom even though they cleaned the room every day

I’ve stayed at Amara multiple times over the last few months. The staff are very accommodating and responsive to any needs. The bed is super comfortable and I always sleep very well. The bathroom is much nicer than most hotels at this price point, very modern with a nice shower and very large separate tub. I had a mix up with one of my meals, but they quickly remedied it and went extra to make up for it. Lunch from the Thai restaurant is tasty and a good value.

Heat still can’t be adjusted in the winter, but they seem to be addressing this with engineering. It’s more comfortable now and the windows can be opened to help as well. I can sleep comfortably. Standard American breakfast is rather pricey for what you get

Location was perfect for me-everything i needed was close including our Shanghai Office Room was excellent and comfortable Breakfast was also excellent. No troubles getting anywhere form there.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room is spacious and very modern! Definitely a great place to stay, the breakfast buffet has many options
