Hôtel Le Dormeux

Highly recommended. A lovely old stylish hotel but with modern style rooms. It’s in the centre of a sleepy little town so even with the windows open ,as it was a warm night , it was easy to sleep. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom very clean and functional. Breakfast, while obviously continental, was excellent with delicious croissants, fresh bread, yoghurts and good coffee. No evening meals but we enjoyed our walk to Le Petit Charles which is small but excellent restaurant. Free public parking is adjacent to the hotel. Give yourself some time to explore the town too which has a fabulous green shady park alongside the river and canal and curls around the base of the amazing ruins of Charles VII’ castle. There are two tall towers remaining.

Air con would have been a plus given the heat, but we had a good fan and were fine.

The Hotel was very good, very clean. Super friendly hotel team who spoke very good English. They even made a restaurant suggestion and booked a table for me (Le Petit Charles, very good) Bedroom and bathroom were a good size. The bed was super comfortable. The shower was great. Breakfast had a great selection. The hotel team even suggested I put my motorcycle in the garage just for peace of mind. Great place overall.

Great to be able to sit on the terrace with a view of the mediæval mill and the sound of the river.

Nothing really - maybe allow guests to use the terrace in the evening with a security lock on the door. To be able to sit out on the terrace with a drink on a warm evening would be great, but appreciate this might not be possible.

Very friendly owner who made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice on the terrace. Good location near a very pretty park.

Nothing wrong at all with the hotel, however the village only had one restaurant still open, but that was excellent.

We stayed for 1 night on our way back from Spain. The hosts were welcoming, the room spacious and well equipped. There is a car park just next to the hotel. The place is very pleasant and tranquil, we had a walk to the nearby chateau and park, it was lovely.

The warm towel rail was a great surprise! We did not realise that the location was so very far from where we were when we decided to book the hotel but it was a lovely surprise when we arrived and we were closer to our final destination which was great.

Someone forgot to fill up the shower soap container but it was not a problem as there was a soap container at the basin.

The staff were fantastic, very friendly. The rooms were spotlessly clean and finished to a high standard. The beds were supremely comfortable and the area around the hotel very quite, leading to a great nights sleep. The breakfast was also superb.

Nothing to dislike, would stay at the Hotel again, and wished we had stayed longer!

This is a perfect stop over for anyone approaching Bourges. Easy to park, lovely rooms, sparkling bathrooms and nice hosts. Sadly many of the restaurants have closed due to Covid, but try 'Le petit Charles', which is easy walking distance, for a great meal. There are also takeaways. Nice breakfast too.

This is an excellent hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and looked after me following a 320mile journey. I was able to park my motorcycle in their garage overnight too. I would definitely stay here again, perhaps longer next time to explore the area, rather than just transiting through.

A kettle for tea and coffee would have been a bonus.
