Beautifully, tastefully done hotel that feels like the quaint rustic yet luxurious, well-kept stone house you imagine for a perfect stay in Provence. Our room was set off from the main multi-story hotel, behind the breakfast room in its own back garden area. It felt exquisitely private and quiet, like our very own guest house. The garden with the tables was so lovely for a drink on a sunny spring afternoon. All the common rooms with all the charming bookshelves of charming books on Provence made it so inviting to just curl up somewhere and learn about the region. The location is good, set off from the bustle of busy Avignon, 5 min drive or 35 min walk, and feels relaxed and sophisticated roaming around outside the hotel. We caught the Saturday brocante market with great fresh seafood, a few mins walk from the hotel. Staff was very hospitable and kind. Tea and pastries available all day was an appreciated addition to our stay.

The 10 minute unloading area was full when we arrived (with a parked car, not just unloading themselves), so we made it work by parking down the street between poles.

The Hotel De L'Atelier is in a very old beautiful building which has been very thoughtfully restored with close attention to detail. Our room was perfect. Ultra clean, very good shower room, comfy beds and good Air con. We also had a great view over the hotel's terrace. Staff could not have been more helpful. Our receptionist was British and explained about the history of the hotel. The hotel is in a old central part of Villeneuve and once you negotiated the very narrow streets we were given a map ( although only 2 mins away) of where secure parking was. We intend to have a city break here in the future as the the main town of Avignon is only 20 mins walk away.

Nothing to do with the hotel but a warning for drivers. We arrived on the other side of Avignon at rush hour. Queues of traffic four lanes going into one across the bridge. Every body in a hurry. Took us half an hour to do a kilometre. If we had gone round Avignon and approached it from the other side we would have missed all that. Don't always do what the Sat Nav says!

What an absolute gem of a hotel! You can feel the history and you want to be a part of it. Absolutely gorgeous rooms. The courtyard is out of a movie! The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. We loved this hotel and would absolutely return to this charming property.

My mother is visually impaired and it was a bit difficult for her to get around as it was a little dark going up the stairs to her room. However I did not tell the staff about this beforehand. They were so friendly that I am sure the would have situated our rooms differently with some warning so this is not the fault of the hotel. A bit of a walk to central Avignon so plan to get a taxi if you don't enjoy walking long distances.

Perfect hotel to explore Avignon, whilst it is out of the centre, it is in a close village nearby, which is much less touristy but still full of lots of choices of restaurants. It is easy to walk into Avignon and we also got a little ferry boat across near the famous bridge, which the staff of the hotel recommended. It was a great way to enter the city. The hotel was very pretty and peaceful the courtyard was lovely to have breakfast in. The roof terrace was really nice and made the hotel feel even more spacious. The room was snug but very comfortable and we had our own terrace overlooking the garden, it was really sweet. We also really loved the completely water/tea/coffee that was available, it was perfect for coming in after a hot day and a really lovely personal touch.

I cannot fault anything in the hotel, the only thing we could say is we wish the hotel had informed us that many restaurants are shut on Mondays. If we had known we could have pre booked a restaurant. We asked a staff member for a recommendation on the day and they recommended Maison Bronzini, which looked lovely from the outside, however as not much was open it was already fully booked. Had we have known in advance there wasn’t many options on Mondays, we would have booked in advance.

This is a lovely hotel - we hadn't realised, when we booked that it was slightly outside the city of Avignon, but were really pleased in the end as Villeneuve-lès-Avignon is beautiful and transport in and out of Avignon by bus is very quick and straightforward. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a real sense of relaxation and calm, including soft sofas to relax on when we came back from dinner and tea, coffee and biscuits available for guests, which we really appreciated. Breakfast was a huge and generous spread and could be eaten in a delightful courtyard garden or inside the cosy breakfast room. Lots of little nooks and terraces to sit on and the place had a real charm, I can see why it is popular.

I can't think of anything

Fantastic location, friendly staff, very comfortable bed. Room itself was lovely. Staff were fantastic and a highlight. We left an item behind and they made contact to return it, and followed up to ensure it had arrived. Breakfast was great.

Ground floor bedroom windows open straight onto courtyard where other guests have breakfast or chill out during the day. The noise is distracting, but the lack of privacy was an issue, particularly at night when you can’t have a window shutter open if you want privacy.

The hotel is well situated in city center, there are many restaurants within short walking distance. Free public parking is available not so far from the hotel. The personnel staff at the reception was very supportive. The size of the room is okay. And some free food / hot beverage are available at the side of reception.

I expected a safe in the room and a small refrigerator as this class of hotel. The bath equipment is a bit outdated, it was a bit hard to adjust water temperature though it was not critical.

An unexpected surprise - the place was a true hidden gem. We didn't know what to expect, and this place exceeded our expectations in every way imaginable. Historic building (that was initially a cardinal's residence or something like that), charming decorations but very modern amenities, great breakfast, and superb location in the middle of old town.

Really nothing to add - a pleasant surprise all around.

We had the most lovely stay at Hotel De L'Atelier. We stayed for two nights, and wished that we stayed longer. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I will highly recommend anyone to stay here. The hotel is so centrally located in the most authentic Tuscan building - yet with all the modern amenities. The breakfast served each morning were a delight.

This place is even better in person! Usually with this older period properties, they can look a little run-down in person but this place was fresh and bright! Good sized room, recently painted and with modern shower - a big plus in a place like this! Free pastries and drinks all day is a nice touch too. Beautiful gardens and little village in general. Near Avignon centre can actually be really stressful, especially with a car, so for us the area was an oasis full of locals
