Cocoon Stachus

I booked this hotel because I saw a great offer at booking.com, offering me a discount of 30%. I selected it and when it comes to pay I was charged the entire amount. I went back at the page and I tried to get a screenshot of my cellphone but a black image was saved... Anyway, I proceeded for paying and I was charged the entire amount! When I complained, the hotel told me that it was booking.com fault and when I complained to the latter the asked me for a screenshot to prove it!!!! It's the last time that I used booking.com but I think that the hotels should be aware of the offering that concerned them.

Check in went smoothly and the room was ready. We have stayed at this hotel every time we come to Munich for the past 10 years. The rooms, while small when compared to the US, are typical in size for European hotels, and the layout is very efficient. Soundproofing allowed us to have a quiet sleep even though we were in the center of a large city. Gratis seltzerwater was a nice touch when coming back from an excursion. There is a nice Indian restaurant across the street, and a good Asian restaurant and some quite good Turkish-Middle eastern places half a block away in the next street. No need to walk far for dinner. The hotel is a short walk away from the main train station (no need to hire a taxi even with luggage), which is very convenient for travelers, because it also has excellent connections to the airport. We will be back again on our next visit to Munich. We always feel comfortable and the staff is friendly and speaks English.

The staff is great. Svetlana and Chris are simply amazing: friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They answered every question, provided advice and help, and ensured that our experience was as comfortable as possible. The room was clean and functional. The bed was very comfortable, with good mattress, pillows, blankets, and linens. New, fresh towels were replaced promptly on request. The hotel offers free water fountain refills (still and sparkling) in the lobby (which neighborhood eateries sell for circa 4 euros per bottle). There are many places around to find a quick bite to eat, ranging from Pizza Hut and KFC to Asian/Vietnamese to Middle Eastern. The train station is a short 5-minute walk away. Many tourist landmarks are a short walk away and full of restaurants serving traditional Bavarian food. We walked and also rented bikes from Radius bikes at the train station to get around.

The only con (I don't know if this is an issue in other rooms) was that the spot in the ceiling holding the hook for the hanging chair was cracked, produced tiny crumbs of plaster falling down every time we tried to either sit in that chair or simply walked by and happened to accidentally touch it. This made it impossible to use the chair, which is the hotel's trademark: there are hanging chairs in the lobby that are very comfortable and well-fixed to the ceiling We did not complain because this was not something that could be fixed immediately and because our overall experience in every other aspect was very positive.

The room was clean, comfortable and big enough, the staff was friendly, there was air conditioning, and the price was super fair considering how centrally located the hotel is. It's also in a quiet side street, so even the rooms out to the front shouldn't be too noisy. The breakfast was a buffet with everything you could want so it was definitely worth the 17€ you pay for it.

Towels and sheets only get changed per request, which is no problem and great for the environment. The only problem was that there weren't enough places to hang the used towels to dry in the room.

This is the first time for me in Münich, I am telling you guys this is one of the most beautiful hotels you would stay in in this amazing city🇩🇪 The great thing about Cocoon Stachus hotel is not only the good location and affordable price, but it is also the lovely, friendly, and professional staff at this hotel. The staff that handle our check in need to improve his ability to handle the guest. We've booked the hotel a day before because we arrive early morning the next day. Without asking or checking our booking, he was not allowed us to check in even we've mentioned almost 3 times that we have made our booking from the day before. What makes us very dissapointed was he not even say sorry for his mistake. But the staff in afternoon shift was very helpful.

- Very modern and clean room and hotel overall. We had a deluxe room with a big shower, sink and separate toilet (with its own small sink). The windows in the shower were funny. We also had a nice couch and a TV that you could turn towards the couch or the bed. - Location is very close to the main train station, Karlsplatz (Stachus, this is where we took our public transport whenever we went anywhere) and city center (Marienplatz). They're all within walking distance, even for a lazy person like me. - The breakfast was pretty nice. You don't have a giant buffet but there was still a variety of tasty things to choose from. - The staff at the reception and during breakfast was friendly.

- On pictures we saw a bathtub next to the shower as well as a hanging chair. Unfortunately our deluxe room did not have either. - The hotel is located close to everything, BUT our street looked a bit run down and dirty with "weird people" hanging around. I'd have definitely felt uncomfortable walking around at night as a woman without my partner. - The ventilation in our separate toilet could've been better and the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak. - The walls were a bit thin so we could hear our "neighbours" sometimes.

Location was mixed. Nearby public transportation and a reasonable walk to Old Town were a definite plus; surrounding neighborhood of hotel was a little shabby. Breakfast was good and the hot food varied from day to day. Staff members were excellent -- helpful and considerate. Room was nice size as was the spacious bathroom. However, for an elderly person there were no safety bars to get in/out of shower or tub. Many large clean towels.

Needs better overhead lighting in room for reading maps and books. Safety bars in shower and tub needed. A courtesy computer for travelers to use so as to do research and print out airline boarding passes (three of the four "internet cafes" near hotel no longer are operating, despite advertising otherwise).

great location. nice facilities.

the shower was all glass (not frosted glass) & was right next to the bed (not in a bathroom). there was a building directly across the street with large windows, so we had to close the curtains to shower. also, the shower door was also the toilet door (sliding door), so you couldn’t have privacy in the toilet if someone was showering & if you don’t close the door to shower water gets on the carpet. it worked out fine, just a weird set-up and would be really awkward if it’s friends traveling together rather than a couple/family.

Cozy hotel. Fast check-in, check-out. Close to the metro and the train station. Value for money.

We weren't informed about the housekeeping service through check-in! If you need your room to be cleaned you have to go to the reception a day before. I went at 11:00am (the 3rd day of our stay) and was told that the housekeeping manager had only one housekeeper that day and didn't have time to clean up our room. The receptionist also stated that the vouchers for opting out of room service are only if you book the room direclty to the hotel (green rate). You can get clean towels from the reception at any time though. For the room, the shower has clear glass walls that made you visible to others in your room.
