Romantik Hotel Markusturm

Beautifully appointed room on the 3rd floor facing the main street. The window opens to a view of the streets and the tower next to the hotel. The room is big and spacious with comfy bed. The included breakfast of cereal, eggs(scrambled or fried), bread, fresh fruits, coffee and tea was glorious. The staff was excellent and super attentive. Hero helped to carry our luggage to the third floor. Highly recommended hotel

The family room was very large for the 4 of us (2 adults + a 12yr & 15 yr old). The use of space in the room was impressive. Even though it was very warm in Germany throughout our travel dates, the hotel accommodated us with 2 fans. The staff was very helpful and gracious. The hotel was so charming, with German antiques around every corner. The location was perfect for walking around Rothenburg. The breakfast was delicious. When we checked in, they told us they would make breakfast to order, whatever we liked, and they did!. Food was delicious and fresh! Water available in the lobby was refreshing on a hot summer day. Valet parking was wonderful.

Nothing; would absolutely stay again!

The hotel is a relatively straightforward 20min walk from the train station but lots of cobblestones to negotiate with wheeled luggage. Taxi is an option. As with all of central Rothenburg, the hotel building itself was delightful. My room was on level 1, with two flights of stairs to negotiate. They do offer a porter to help with luggage but I managed myself. My room consisted of a separate seating area, with a large desk/table and tv and a separate bedroom and bathroom. The bed was a European double - two singles pushed together. There was a free standing fan in the bedroom but no air-conditioning. I imagine it could get quite warm in hotter weather. The windows opened on to a quiet side street and it was possible to sleep with them open. Rothenburg was very quiet in the mornings an evenings, with mostly day trippers. Breakfast was not buffet but to order. I had one meal in the restaurant which was lovely - thought not at all what I ordered :) I think there were some language problems for the wait staff caused by my Aussie accent. The hotel is well located to all the sights as central Rothenburg is very small.

The only issue was lack of information in the room about the hotel itself (at least I couldn't find any) e.g.that there is a master switch on the bedroom wall that you have to turn on for anything to work, breakfast and restaurant hours, tv channels etc.

Everything about this hotel was incredible. We had a small issue getting our car to the front of the hotel due to some construction. I walked and the owner greeted me, threw on her coat, and personally came with me to direct us down the proper roads. The room was beautiful, spacious, and the bathroom was gorgeous. Location could not have been better. Right in the center of everything. On the morning of check-out, we met the other owner and he welcomed us to breakfast and treated us so graciously, offering us everything we could ever want. Highly recommend!!

I really appreciated the location of the hotel. It was very central, our room was way nicer than even the pictures showed, and I appreciated that they parked our car for us. I would not have wanted to find parking on my own.

They closed their restaurant for the All Saints Holiday and the next few days. As we live in Europe I wasn't terribly surprised but it would be a nice note to include for guests staying ahead of time. As one night we had to scramble for a meal. Many other places only were open for their own guests and would not take us.

The spacious room and the bathtub. The quietness of the street and how comfortable the bed and vibe of the whole place was. The whole hotel just had a quaint and nice feeling to it. There was a very sweet lady at the counter who was just as much of a cat lover as I was and she was always smiling and warm. Nero the cat sometimes makes an appearance to greet guests and he is an absolute gentleman. The breakfast was very scrumptious and delicious too.

I wished I was able to order what I want for breakfast because the hotel served quite a bit of food I couldn't finish all of it and had to waste some.

I accidentally booked the apartment associated with the hotel when I made the reservation. I didn't know this until I arrived and they told me, much to my surprise. The apartment was around the corner so they show us the place and said we could stay in the hotel in a room or have the apartment. Well - who wouldn't want a large nicely furnished apartment right in the heart of town! The staff even came over and cleaned in the mornings which surprised me - I don't get that in an Airbnb. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant the first night and it was excellent. Took our chance on different places in town the next day for meals but were disappointed by the contrast. So, back to the hotel for breakfast our last morning and it was exceptional, especially for the price. All in all - a great place to stay!

We stayed at the Hotel Markusturm for two nights, it’s our second time of staying at the hotel. the central location is fantastic, restaurants and bakeries right on the doorstep. We had our two dogs with us and we’re made to feel very welcome. The staff our just fantastic, we had driven a long way and ended up hitting delay after delay which meant we didn’t end up arriving at the hotel until 1:30am!! despite the owner normally leaving at midnight, she stayed and welcomed us which meant we didn’t have to sleep a night in the car. We were so very grateful.

Lovely central hotel. Real sense of history. Staff were helpful and spoke multiple languages. Comfy well equipped rooms. Good breakfast choice, quality and great coffee. A very well run hotel in the heart of the town. Quiet spot as well.

It was exceptionally and unseasonably hot weather and a nice fan was provided. But, I think a supply of back up old fashioned fans which blast out cold air would be more effective. Our room was overly warm.

Great location near the market square. Very cool spot for photography. Comfortable and large apartment for a family of 5. For a family of 4/5, whole apartments seem hard to come by so this is a good find. They have only 2.

We were not disappointed at all with the apartment. Big enough and spacious rooms. However the photographs used to advertise could be of better quality and show the size of the room(s) rather than close up shots that give no clue to the space.
