Fairfield by Marriott Amritsar

The hotel is situated about 500m from Amritsar station and about 3.5km from the Golden temple. An ideal location if you are driving in Amritsar as the area near Golden temple is not ideal for driving your own car. The breakfast had quite a variety and hot kulchas, dosa, paratha and bhatura were available on demand. The staff at the restaurant and front desk were very friendly. Electric rickshaw takes between Rs. 100 to 150 from hotel to Golden temple. A taxi ride (return journey from Atari-Wagah in Toyota Etios) costed us Rs. 1600. There are various options available from the station and golden temple for Wagah.

Size of the bathroom is small for a four star property.

Breakfast was excellent tho’ I think South Indian dishes were not upto mark. There was good variety I particularly liked dessert dishes in which too there was wide variety

1. Access to the property is very inconvenient 2. Tho’ We had booked two rooms for four days, and had requested for an early check-in because of flight timings, and informed well in advance, our second room was not made available till evening. This caused inconvenience to us. 3. Tho’ we had paid for breakfast as well as dinner in our room tariff, we were charged extra for coffee as well as tea. I think it was unfair.

Good breakfast options but one thing that stood out and will stay forever was - AMRITSARI KULCHA MADE BY CHEF GURPREET - totally out of the world. You would not find a better Kulcha in entire Amritsar ,I can bet on that. Just amazing and the Chef and the entire staff are really welcoming and warm people, gave us a tour of their amazing kitchen where the magic is done by chef. One of the staff member Manorama made us feel very comfortable while dining explaining little things and made our stay memorable. Would love to come back to Amritsar to visit Golden Temple and just to have this amazing out of the world Kulcha. thank you for making this memorable.

Beds and pillows could have been better.

Very smooth reception and luggage delivery in the room. Exceptionally good breakfast. The Amritsari Kulchas, eggs to order and stuffed parathas of different varieties were very nice. The decor was good. The room was of a good size and the storage space and bathroom were both good. The staff in the front desk and those at the breakfast service were exceptionally competent and polite.

The bed was not at all comfortable and that is the only reason why I am rating this as 8 and not 9. The springs were not firm enough. Since the hotel was in the middle of the city, it did not have a great front view.

Everything was perfect except the shower only had two settings - scalding hot and boiling hot. So had to wash in the bathroom sink like a bucket bath.

Someone charged a taxi to my friends room and wanted us to pay for it. We had a private driver who also told the reception desk we were with him all day. Reception did not want to believe any of us. We had to threaten denying all charges and let the credit card company deal with that fraudulent charge - turning a small problem into a very large one. We had to spend about 20 minutes talking to several managers before it was resolved. Reception needs to be more diligent about other guests charging things to wrong room numbers.

-Breakfast was good -superior room was spacious -staff was nice (but I think some may work to long, or have to work to long, some looked exhausted) As seeing them in the early morning and late evening and next day too, doesn't give a good impression an international employer. Never seen this at a Radisson Hotel. We liked to sit in the evening at the Restaurants and had some beverages. It was very ni e to get some small snacks to the Beer/ Cocktails. They where nice, specially the Pani Puri and the Tacos (on different evenings. If we are back in Amritsar, we definitely would choose Fairfield Marriott, no doubt, again.

Swimming pool a bit small, to many pigeon's around. A net could help. There was a fridge/minibar but empty. No International TV channels! We had 2 bed rooms, friends mattress was ok, my one was uncomfortable. Waked uo 2 times,, room 321, maybe someone check this.

The food was delicious and the staff members were very courteous and quite helpful.

The maintenance and upkeep of the hotel needs to be improved. There were small broken panels here and there. The room intercom in our room wasn't working when we stepped in and the wires were disconnected. The panel was hanging from the wall. Even the washroom floors weren't clean at the edges.and the hair dryer wasn't working.

The friendly hotel staff made all the difference . Everybody right from the Front Desk to Housekeeping to the Restaurant staff was extremely customer oriented and helpful. The Front Desk was very accommodating . We arrived from Pune and reached the Hotel by 0600 . We left our luggage in the Cloak Room and went to the Golden Temple . The Front Desk called up at 1100 hours and told us that the room was ready ( Normal check in was at 1500 hours) . We were initially given an inward facing room and once we expressed our concern , Gaganpreet shifted us within 15 mins to another room with a view which overlooked the pool. Our stay included B/F and dinner . Both meals were at Kava . The food throughout our stay was simply awesome . We had wanted to sample authentic punjabi dishes and we got our fill during the four days . Diksha at Kava was very welcoming and so was Monika . Special mention must be made for Chef Gurpreet who went the extra mile to give us really delicious preparations of Amritsari Kulcha/ Chole-Panjabi Kadi/ Chawal - Palak Saag (made Sarson Saag style) / Makki de Roti . We also sampled delicious Aloo -Puri . We had gone with a bucket list of street food outlets to sample but the lip smacking food at Kava ensured that the bucket list would have to wait for the next trip . Sonpreet -Gaurav and Puran Miya at Kava gave us personalised attention and we felt very much at home .

I had a wonderful stay at the Fairfield. All of the staff displayed remarkable hospitality… I was particularly impressed by the restaurant staff and I did mention this when I checked out too - both the front of house service as well as the delicious food coming out of the kitchen. I highly recommend… and wouldn’t hesitate to book again upon my next visit to Amritsar. Thank you to all the team at the Fairfield!

Your staff was Awesome. I would like to acknowledge your staff at the Kava rest during breakfast they were so so humble n pleasant excellent service. Sandeep Brijesh,Sonpreet, Ranjit made a an excellent kachori my style. 1 special person caught my eye , your floor cleaner he was so prompt when someone broke a glass. He stands by the tea corner n watches everywhere n spots whenever he was needed. He was a young man with a turban. I just felt he too needed to be seen 😊. My 1st visit was excellent so next time I'll definitely stay at Marriott. Thank u all.
