Gran Melia Jakarta

So, this is my second review of this property as we stayed here twice during our time in Jakarta. Both times we found the staff to be very attentive to our needs. When we traveled to the Airport on our last day, they packed breakfast to-go because we left so early in the morning. This hotel is in a great location and easy to access from the main highways in Jakarta. Our room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful view of South Jakarta. The food choices in the lobby restaurant were vast offering Asian, Western, and European menu items. Our coffee cups were always full and there were multiple juice choices as well. The one thing that was especially impressive was the response to our criticisms from the first stay at the property. We were contacted by both the housekeeping supervisor and General Manager with regard to our observations. They expressed genuine concern for our complaints and made every effort to rectify these issues. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a location where you are their first priority.

There was an issue with some of the food ordered in the lobby lounge which was quickly addressed by management. There were a lot of conferences being held on-site and many of the attendees were smoking in the side rooms making the first-floor corridors and the lounge area smell like smoke. The small cafe on the ground level was unable to charge back to our room so we needed to pay cash for some items we purchased there. There are very few options to purchase needed items such as feminine hygiene products or basic toiletries at or near the property.

First and foremost, my wife and I agree that the staff here was very pleasant. They were always welcoming and knew me by name. While we didn't utilize the spa services, we did enjoy room service, swam in the pool, and exercised in the fitness center. Our overall experience was great, we would definitely consider staying again in the future.

So, the few things we felt could improve are as follows: - Several items from the kitchen seemed to be undercooked and poorly prepared. My wife is a personal chef and found that the bubur was watery, nasi uduk was undercooked and nasi goreng from the lounge was not fresh. She stated that it tasted like it may have been made earlier in the day and reheated. -As an Operation Manager, I felt the facility is showing its age. Some of the hallways were dank with a faint smell of mildew. There were tiles missing in the pool, the bathroom had dirty corners, the grout between tiles was missing, paint in the hallway was smug and a little dirty. All of the fore-mentioned items are easily correctable with maintenance and upkeep.

The hotel is beautiful and has all the amenities needed: comfy beds, quiet rooms, friendly staff, pool, gym, restaurants, coffee bar. It is a bit older, but that doesn't matter. They manage to keep it really nice. Breakfast was excellent with a huge variety in different foods.

I went to the restaurant once and was very disappointed with the food (mold on the parmesan cheese, the fries sounded super exquisite in the menu, but in the end they were just regular string fries). Maybe it was just a bad day because the breakfast was always excellent and everything was fresh.

The hotel is very modern, large and is a great place to stay for a short stay or work related event in Jakarta. The facilities were excellent and the staff were super helpful and friendly. The gym is very modern and is very large with a lot of space. The pool area is great. There is a mosque nearby which is lovely for Jummah.

The location is definitely not for tourists. I tried to walk from the hotel but there are simple no restaurants or shops near by. You will have to take a taxi if you want to go anywhere.

The breakfast choice was great, they had different food for a variety of tastes. They had food from around the Asia region. The juices were freshly squeezed. So many choices. I had booked at short notice - booked the day before and had asked for a surprise for my wife, as it was our wedding anniversary, didn't think anything could be done at such a short notice. Checked in and found they had upgraded us to another room. Got back from dinner that night and found a surprise "Happy Anniversary" cake on our writing desk in the room. Thank you Gran Melia.

Via this way we would like to thank you for a most wonderful stay. Our time at Gran Melia was beyond expectations. It was a very special trip for us, as it was the first travel experience with our little baby Joya. With her being only 4 weeks old, it was quite a trip from Jakarta to Bali, flying for the first time and staying a few nights away from home. We couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay!

Nothing! Would really book again if we are in Jakarta.

Staff very atentive and were a great help when we left a personal item in the room after checking out. The FO manager was very helpful in making sure the item was returned to us by a friend who collected it on our behalf.

shower room floor tile sealant was moldy and needed to be repaired or replaced

The staff very friendly. Breakfast amazing good. Check in and out very fast. Good smell in whole hotel. To go to the room you have several elevators to choose from so you never wait long. Walking distance if you like to walk a bit to Ambassador Mal and many embassy near by.

The in room food wasn't good the first time but they took it back and we got it new. Took a bit time to wait for it but it was tasty. For apologize we got late check out. Thanks we will return to Grand Melia

The Gran Melia's breakfast is exceptional. It has a wide variety of choice and is well executed. The reception staff is very pleasant and Management is very attentive to detail.

The property is in need of a refurbishment, even though it is still in an acceptable state. The service at the breakfast room is sometimes inconsistent, although the staff is always well-meaning.

+The lobby area +Restaurants (third the Japanese and the local Restaurant, bithnof them offer very good value for money). +price of the room. Good value, considering the inventory is aged. Room size is above average and the rooms are quite. +hotel staff was attentive, friendly and helpfull

-bathroom could use an upgrade. Shower had partially clogged -Windows need urgent cleaning. Had a room on a high floor which would provide nice views (if Windows would be clean).
