La pagliera

I usually never write reviews but this B&B, being exceptional, deserves an exception. The house is beautiful (every details have been meticulously thought out), the breakfast delicious, and the host a truly wonderful guy. La Pagliera is a piece of art in every aspect of the term : art in its architecture, decoration, and art of living. Three weeks in Sicily and it’s the best place by far. Grazie Francesco, you’re a legend !

'La Pagiera' a gem of a B&B,nestled in the landscape of the Valley of the Temples, is a farmhouse from the early 19th century, which has been remodeled according to the latest standards of restoration and renovation, meets all the criteria of modern hotels. Extremely tasteful, lovingly executed down to the smallest detail, it meets every requirement. It's the mix that counts. Modern architecture combined with wonderful antiques. The rooms are equipped with everything the traveler expects. Here, too, the most loving details from the history of Sicily paired with very extravagant furniture elements. The view from the large entrance hall and most of the rooms is towards the Valley of the Temples. Every evening you can see three of them beautifully illuminated. The roof terrace with a view of the nearby sea is an additional gem. A small tea kitchen is also available there. Last but not least: Susi and Francesco, the owner couple, run their small hotel with a lot of charm, kindness and competence. The breakfast, lovingly freshly prepared by Francesco, is second to none. It's not just perfect, it's just terrific. The travelers who do not want to discover this wonderful island with its magical landscape and many outstanding art and cultural treasures on their own, Francesco is a knowledgeable, humorous guide who drives you everywhere in his Mercedes Van and never forgets the culinary experience. La Pagliera hosts Susi and Ciccio offered the most wonderful and genuine hospitality. Ciccio has a wonderful sense of Italian humour. We enjoyed their company and delicious surprises at breakfast - the breakfast itself was beyond a normal breakfast showcasing different Sicilian delicacies each day. The caponata from Ciccio’s grandmother’s recipe was an absolute highlight. La Pagliera situated in Valle dei Templi is a passionately restored home, very comfortable and tastefully decorated, especially with the view of an iconic temple from our bedroom and shower. Susi gave us a thoughtful gift of oregano and a creatively packaged sweet treat on our departure. You both deserve ten stars!

I didn't want to leave! Francesco was so warm and welcoming and made us feel like it was our home. From the moment we got there I didn't want to leave and we hadn't even been upstairs yet. The home is beautiful, exactly like the photos, The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot an powerful and there's a cute terrace to sit outside. We drove and there is space to park right outside. Breakfast is INSANELY good! We were staying as part of our honeymoon and our friends had emailed ahead so Francesco set up a gift from them of a bottle of fizz and nibbles with some music downstairs which was the loveliest thing ever. He also told the restaurant that he helped us book and so they gave us the table by the window that over looked the temples. You can see the temples from the rooms and they are a 10 minute drive if that, the location is much better than central Agrigento for them. I really don't feel like I am doing La Pagliera justice, it's hard to describe just how brilliant it is. We're already looking at when we can go back!

I loved everything.

We spent two nights at La pagliera. We enjoyed the customisation, in particular the breakfast! The dinning experience is fantastic. Every little surprises just lightened up our days. We relaxed and enjoyed our breakfast with good hands. Francesco and Suzi are very welcoming. Drinks and snacks ate ready upon our arrival. Not to mention, the place is full with history and hertiage. We enjoyed every moment in La Pagliera. You can look at the valley of the temples just out from the window :) We already looking forward to meet Francesco and Suzi agsin!!

Nothing nothing!

Exquisite property-atmospheric villa tastefully renovated by owner Suzy with beautiful views of the valley of the temples. Owner Francesco oversaw the sumptuous breakfast-fresh local produce, interesting treats-recommended and booked restaurants for dinner, organised taxis and even picked us up at short notice from the bus station when no taxis were to be had. He made sure we were on time for the day's only bus to Gela-drove us to the station and saw us onto it. A terrific place to stay

From the superb pre-check in communication, your arrival, and throughout your stay; La Pagliera will continually find ways to exceed your best expectations. La Pagliera is a masterpiece of craftmanship incorporating the rich heritage of a Sicilian farm house with all the modern touches of comfort and provision one could hope for. One look at Ciccio's kitchen will have you anticipating the breakfast he will serve you the next morning. In his own words... He will prepare you to experience heaven itself! If you're considering a stay near or in Agrigento, look no further -- your fond memories will thank you!

Having to leave... We just didn't want to!

the house has perfect location, completely new and very stylishly decorated. It is pleasant and very comfortable to be in it. Beautiful view from the window on the valley of the temples. it is especially important to note that here you can get the perfect service from the owner, useful information on how to spend an interesting time. Farancesco helped to make reservations in best restaurants, so we felt as welcome guests. We arrived for two nights, but did not want to leave, we stayed one more night. This is a wonderful place where you need to come for 5-7 days and relax on beautiful beaches, visit historical sites.

La pagliera was the best and most memorable place we stayed while in Sicily. Ciccio and Susi have transformed a barn into a gorgeous, welcoming, intimate, comfortable B&B. Each special architectural detail and furnishing has an interesting story. Our host, Ciccio, was very personable and entertaining. He exudes love for Susi, this property and Sicily. The breakfast food was abundant, unique and delicious. La pagliera is truly special.

We truly can’t say enough about our stay in La Pagliera. Ciccio and Susi are absolutely amazing hosts, not to mention that the premises of La Pagliera are astounding and the specially curated breakfasts were to die for!
