Piccola Vela

Piccola Vela is a beautiful property, well maintained and with a number of places for groups to get together and talk. We loved our room, which was spacious and had a balcony overlooking the facility’s gardens. We also very much appreciated the staff, who were quite helpful and willing to please. The in-house restaurant was wonderful, and the breakfast buffet was fine and varied. Actually, we liked everything about the hotel!

Nothing, really. If you’re considering the hotel, you should note that it is a 5-10 minute walk from the center of Desenzano and the ferry dock. That wasn’t a problem for us at all (in fact, we liked the quiet), but if you have difficulty walking and want to be near the ferry and the lake, it might be a consideration for you.

The breakfast is included in the booking and they serve a great breakfast. Mainly this opens at 7:30 and servers till 10:30. Around 100m you can reach the lake. Location is awesome. We stayed in a family room and kids enjoyed their bunk beds. Small mini bar in the room and all needed to make a coffee. We enjoyed our beautiful 3 night and 4 day trip here. Would come again if i get a chance AND THE BEST PART WAS JACUZZI on terrace. We booked it for 3 time. The view are mind blowing.

Nothing to be honest.

Superbly designed hotel, quiet, elegant and clean facilities, hotel gardens are well maintained and preserved, the rooms are still in a good shape and the bathrooms are newly renovated with modern style. Amenities are available and refilled everyday. We have booked two types of rooms and both views were wonderful, the lake view and the garden view. The balconies were also beautiful in both rooms. The breakfast is served from 7:00 - 11:00 so it’s really convenient, also it has a wide variety of options salty or sweet breakfast and fresh/hot meals. The staff are friendly welcoming and smiling all the time offering their help. We had a wonderful time staying in Piccola vela. I recommend it.

The Air conditioner in the double room was ok but I believe it needs some renewal to be more efficient in the hot summer.

Easy to find, very helpful and welcoming staff who took my luggage to the room and offered to help me take it to the car when I was leaving, lovely garden room, great breakfast and enjoyable dinner served outside, two pools, space to relax inside and out, great recommendation for a restaurant on my first night when their restaurant was closed, private parking, close to town centre and lake.

The room needed more sockets and in places where you can easily get at them. I had to unplug a lamp to charge my phone, watch and Kindle - the socket was behind a heavy table and not easy to use. I also had to unplug the TV to boil the kettle - which meant the kettle had to be on the floor. Not an ideal position and at my age I am not keen on picking up a booking kettle from the floor!

hotel was very well decorated,outside the gardens very nice and tidy.for those who travel by car,very easy access (the whole road around the lake was easy and not traffic)very good that it included free parking,centre of thecity is at the left about 5 minutes on foot,but the way till there is very nice if you just go by the lake. breakfast for italian standrad was good (difficult to find good breakfast in italy ,comparing to greece ),i would prefer automatic coffee machine because i drink A LOT.

staff were lovely, breakfast was very good, location was very convenient. the garden was stunning and well protected from the wind meaning you could lie in the sun comfortably even though it was not super warm and the spa on the roof had a great view, and in the evening you could sit on the roof and have a spritz watching the sunset - delightful.

until I arrived I was not told the restaurant for snacks and dinner would be closed. the towels and the robes were old some were fraying and had holes in them.

From start to finish all staff at Piccolo Vela were friendly, spoke good English and made us feel very welcome. Our room was spacious and had a balcony with a beautiful view. The hotel was clean and spacious and all areas were quiet and perfect for a relaxing holiday. Attention to detail was excellent and all aspects of the outdoor spaces were beautiful. Even in the height of the summer season the pool area was never overcrowded and sunbathing round the pool was so relaxing. Breakfast was served between 7am and 11am and therefore, you could enjoy a beautiful, leisurely breakfast each morning. It was a 5-10 minute walk into Desenzano and we made use of the complimentary bike hire to cycle to different beaches around the lake. Although not the cheapest hotel, I would definitely recommend staying here if you want a quality hotel close to the town.

It's difficult to find fault with the hotel but if I was being really picky I would say that the lighting in our room wasn't great and therefore the room felt quite dark. A bin in the bedroom would have been useful.

Room was very comfortable and fabulous size. Staff were very accommodating and helpful.

Lack of charging points near the bed. Needed to remove bedside lamp to charge anything. Fridge and kettle only had one socket between them. Although a non smoking hotel it was obvious people smoked on the balcony (I observed it next door) hence this also infiltrated the room so smelled of smoke when we arrived.

The staff were amazing- super friendly and helpful, excellent customer service and nothing was too much trouble. Visited for my Husband’s 40th Birthday :-) Amazing facilities (pools, rooftop jacuzzi) and the place smelled divine! Romantic and classic feel with beautiful gardens!

Maybe adding a coffee machine in the room would give an extra bonus, but otherwise loved everything!

The room was excellent and a beautiful balcony. The breakfast had everything anyone wanted with plentiful supplies. There was shade and a pool at the back and sunshine and a pool at the front so they catered for everyone. The staff where obliging especially Christian who met us in the car park and carried our bags in, we had a small problem with a non flushing toilet which he came and sorted for us. We had had a really traumatic journey and arrived just after 10.00pm he was exceptionally helpful, friendly and a real tonic.

The water pressure at the hotel was varied and on a couple of occasions we had no water. The hotel owner seemed very aloof and made no effort even to say good morning to guests when he came across them
